Surely, there must have been some debauched behaviour that you want to confess to Mother Heidi? Fess up darling and cleanse your soul.

This is me and my perfect gelding Jordan. This was his third trip to FPP and he was very happy and mellow.

Behind, to the right (bay pony), is Sinful Pony and the Sinful Pony galloping by.

Behind, obscured somewhat by Mr. Jordan, is Brittney and Crumpet -- Crumpet was not on her best behavior today.

It was a glorious day, with nearly western skies, moderate temps (in mid-November!!!) and lots of good cheer.

This is Michael Bertozzi (think bears and tots and you'll say it right), and he is the owner of Cavallo Farm along with his wife Marie. He was riding Marie's horse Prince (formally aka King's Ransom, but affectionately known as Hannibal Lechter or scarface--note the scar on forehead).

Prince was "up" on the glorious day.

This is Ana, daughter of Mike and Marie, giving the camera one last look before heading home. She was a real trooper and seemed to enjoy her day at the park sans pony.

Meet Susie, aka Suzie-Q (hey, that's what her car license plate says!) riding a Cavallo school horse named Snoopy, who was gleeful today ("Yippee -- I'm off the property and no one can stop me now!!!) .

Normally, Susie would be riding the famous Billy, but Inverness was too busy dirt-biking him around herself (unfortunately the people manning my camera did not get a picture of Sir Billy--I do hope he got mugged by another camera).

The perfect Miss Maam and her entourage made the trip, Janet, Elghund and Cactus Lil, Clive's Mom and HN73, Auntie Pat and Aimee. Inverness, larosa90, sinfulpony, Kennett Square, hordes of pumpkins from the Cavallo patch, Moesha and Xani, we compared notes and became concerned that we may have already frightened off N2Jumpers. /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Miniwelsh, newly arrived back east from Wisconsin took Pockets pony for a spin and Fairweather with her magnificent duo blew us away with their jumping abilities.

lisamarie8, hard to recognize with out her war wounds was there along with bgoosewood and Trixie. breezymeadow was my favorite (well, until Moesha arrived and took Wings for a spin) as she not only was true to her word and fell immediately in love with HER Dust Bunny, but brought along a fabulous potato salad.

I will continue with the list of attendees but must stop right here to share breezymeadows' culinary contribution!

Meet Laura. She rides Cleo. Cleo and Crumpet had a cat fight on the way over (two older snarky mares who dominate different herds -- they once lived together but the vet bills got to be too high as the kicking became more accurate). Neither mare was in a good mood when they started, however, Cleo cheered up a bit as shown in this picture.

In the background on the right is Michael on Prince and I think it's Susie and Snoopy on the right

Pockets the Gumby pony is a blast, although I must say Miss Amy rides him far better than I - she had him soaring over the cross country course. He did pack me through the water jump twice, all the while calling to his best bud Wings back at the trailer. I have never seen a pony able to jump while calling at the same time!

Poor Mr. Monty is exhausted and hasn't moved since we got home...he is, to say the least, madly in love with Fairweather's Zoe.

It was so wonderful to meet everyone and put faces with names - I haven't laughed so hard in so long!

Miniwelsh schooled our little loud mouth while Aimee and Auntie Pat made a side trip to the antique glass show.

Aimee had made a desultory round of the course early in the day along with me and Wings, who just KNEW what was going on and decided to be a green three year old TB.

After the hiatus away from Frying Pan, Miss Aimee put things together and worked Pockets, causing a flutter in my Auntie heart as we watched her gallop the lower jumps in the open field.

Homemade bread, brownies, cookies, cakes, vegies platters! We had barbecue and meatballs, hot dogs and smoked turkey breast, Maryland stuffed ham that was superlative.

We had bean salad and cole slaw, fantabulous potato salad, cheeses and casseroles, HN73's wonderful hors d'ouvres of cheddar pastry wrapped stuffed olives.

We ate and rode and rode and ate and talked and bragged and lied and rode some more. When it was time to pack things up, many people took home packages of their party favorites.

This, though, had to be the all time left over /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Horses, people and multiple doggies were tired out from the fun.

Those silly people at the jumper show were BUYING food around front in the dusty parking lot while we were carousing and having a delightful time out back.

We actually did, on at least one occasion, have to say "Yes we are from the Chronicle of the Horse, no we are not having a competition"
Then added in in an undertone "(bulletin board, not sanctioned, no, you're not getting in the magazine and this isn't the annual company picnic)"

Our Grizzles dog got to come and she was delighted, although I (being a mean mom) required her to spend most of the time in the RV with the door open which is SOOOOO HARD when a dog must be good.

I hope someone has pics of her. I have pics of other peoples dogs, I am such a MEAN mom! /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Heidi, I dont think I licked anybody's face, but my poor ears heard snippits of conversation such as "Get the dogs humping again so I can take a picture"
<Ouuuuch! My freekin eeears...a-la-Todd Flanders"
I dont know how it happened, but a few Mimosa's actually had me ruthlessly jumping over hither and yon...
(I think I'm the only one that pee'd in the woods..hey, when you gotta go, you gotta go!)
I jumped some things I didnt think I'd ever do, especially on my "not-quite-right TB, Mark"

After getting my fill of heart-stopping jumps and almost getting dumped in the mucky water, I happily handed the reins over to Trixie, and she rode Markie all over the place.
Ms. JAGold, simply took my (and a few others) breath away! That girl has quite the set of B@lls on her. She rode my wonderful, irreplacable Phoenix over almost every jump out there. What a WONDERFUL ride she gave that horse! I cant wait to share the pictures that are certainly coming from Lisa and Trixie.

The food was AMAZING and the company outstanding as usual. I dont think I've ever had so much fun with a group of "strangers" as I've had in the last few months with this particular group. Everybody is just so amazing, and so supportive and nice...Not something you find often in the competitive horse world.

I was definately the proud mother, as both of my boys FAR exceeded any expectation i've ever held for any horse i've owned. They simply took my breath away watching them go over these scary, solid jumps. Driving home, I was thinking about the letter I would write to both horses' breeders/previous owners. Sadly enough, I found tears forming when I thought about today...and how happy they would be to see such magic unfold in pictures taken by wonderful people that would make their way onto refrigerators, walls and greeting cards.

Next time I come however, i will most certainly bring my hunt whips to drive Kennett Square away from trying to steal my beloved boys /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Well, I'm wiped out...will share more in the AM.
Today was magical. Thanks to everyone for an unmatchable day.

What more could you ask for???? Before I lay my stuffed-to-bursting little body down to rest, just want to say:

Loved attaching faces to "online personas".

Loved meeting everyone, including the ever-charismatic ETBW & Mr. Wings.

Was pleasantly surprised to find Fairweather & I have Thoroughbreds by the same sire & a keen interest in Melodisk offspring.

Love my new little "Dust Bunny" to bits, as did Mr. Breezymeadow as soon as he saw her. (You'll be pleased to hear, ETBW, that we had her hopping around the kitchen & meeting the rest of the furry gang all evening.)

Was pleased as punch that my "peep salad" was such a hit. Even though I made a point of stating a disclaimer that the peeps had been "ageing" since Easter - & NOT like a fine wine - some were sacrificed to a few sugar addicts.

Will now try to drift blissfully off to sleep - but somehow cannot erase from my mind a picture of MiniWelsh's Monty lieing on his back in his little doggy bed smoking a cigarette. . . .

Auntie Pat left me with the disks full of pics she shot! I have been trying to not post the ones she took (except for the Peep salad, that was too much temptation).

She is coming over to my office this afternoon to collect the disks and drop off the school fundraiser cheesecakes.

While the camera technically belongs to Mr. Wings and I take loads of pictures, Auntie Pat has become a real whiz with it and she swoops it up whenever there are photo opportunities presented.

Here she is on camera alert, coming at me with a vengance! /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Of course, I spent the entire day playing "sit around and wait" at a horse show sans the Dunn-monster, who will be left at home until after I've had time to ride him again.

Of course, someone told me last night he pulled a shoe Saturday evening, so we wouldn't have been able to do anything yesterday anyhow.

However, after Miss Maam pulled out a tooth just for the occasion and didn't receive quite the amount of attention that she requires, she took her party off to the car!! /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

It was great to meet everyone and to put some faces to names. The spread was incredible and a better day couldn't have been ordered. It was so nice to see so many happy ponies out the field. They and their riders were having so a blast!

A side note, I do apologize for the jrmasm family wearing their anti-social hats. We had been at an awards banquet the night before and were all exhausted!!

I was a little relieved when we got home last night and didn't find a dog in our car. I really expected Miss Maam to steal either Zoe or Monty to add to her collection of dogs!

We had a great time despite the two screaming idiots of horses that someone brought. Wait, that was us.

It was a good experience for the baby to get out. She routinely travels for her training but she has not had to deal with all of the activity that was going on at FPP. There was no excuse for the big goober, although he did settle enough for me to jump him around the big field. Ten years old and still a big baby!

The food was great and I was particulary impresses by the peeps salad. That was inspirational.

What a great day at FPP! Phoenix is a wonder-horse and was fabulous to ride. I have a good alibi if I steal him, because Kennet Square was heard making similar threats...

Miss Maam was as adorable in person as in photos, and narrated her photo album and show season for me. She almost skipped the last picture, but when prompted by her mother, she said, "oh, that's me and Todd."

Also, I can now rest assured that there is absolutely nothing under my car, because Grizzels-the-dog checked it quite thoroughly for me.

The Mr., the pup and I crashed on couches when we got home and slept soundly for at least an hour.

ETBW's- those fabu chairs belong to Ms. HN73 as well, she was just kind enough to let us rest our tired behinds on them.

Annie and her Polar and me and my Clive had great fun exploring around the park. We decided that braving the water (thanks Navaho!) was our biggest accomplishment, but we are coming back to attempt the stairs! Fairweather and her trusty steeds were definately an inspiration.

See you all soon!

OK, I have to admit, I was so blown away by how good my girl was going XC the first time, that I hardly could do anything but say, "She was awesome".

I had a great time riding around with Hector's mom (whose screenname I forgot). She gave me a lovely lead through the water the first time, then Pico was super!

I also realized when I got home that I have a camp stove and other supplies in my trailer!

Next time, I'll plan on staying longer. What a great group.

Thanks Fairweather for inviting me.

Hmm, hadn't thought of taking the son to lessons over w/ Kennett Square, he has a very cute pony, but Tinker requires riding in the ring, and he wants to have an autopilot pony. She is autopilot on trails.

I did manage to not do any saddle fittings...this was a play day for me. /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

So many names and faces, and since I haven't been reading on here for a long time, many were new. I was very impressed at the great turnout and cannot wait to see the pictures that Fairweather took of Pico and I.

Ok, let me just tell you how much fun my horse had, never mind me.

This was only the SECOND time in his life he'd seen jumps beside the plain white poles I have at home.

Once he figured out the water wasn't going to kill him, he thought it was the most fantastic thing in the world. He literally LEAPT in and galloped out. I am so proud of him. I want photos of THAT!

I suppose, by leaving behind my table AND chairs, that I am officially a "fritter head"? My mom would say its the "little people", that want us to get together again soon! (You know, they make you leave stuff behind!)

I can't wait to go again. Neither can Navaho, who was so tired this morning, he decided it would just be easier to lay down and eat hay.

Wings, I had no idea you got a photo of us! Yea! (At least my heels are down!)

Oh, and I didn't take any BBQ because we ATE SO MUCH OF IT WHILE WE WERE THERE!!!

At one point I had a plate of MEAT.

What a fantastic time! Its great to see friends, old and new.

so I mostly ended up schooling by myself.

Belle has done one Beginner Novice event, but we schooled over most of the Novice fences, and a couple of training.

We did the brand new fence that replaced "the crank", the training side of the water (just the bank in/out, not the big log), the big white coop (not the most graceful), the ditch and log (my personal bugaboo), lovers leap (at a trot, and starting with individual fences), the helsinki at the end of the ring, the steps (she LOVES those), the training logs in, and coming out of, the far woods, as well as most of the fences in the start field.

Belle clearly thinks this is great fun, and didn't find any of it hard (though she LOOKED at a couple of them).

Since there were no takers for "I brought an extra horse for someone to ride" (Tootsie, where were you?),and the jumper show was only just starting the 2'9" division at 2:30 (whch meant they wouldn't have started the 3' to 3'6" division till well after dark), I took Music out for a school too.

Music reaffirmed that CC is still NOT her favorite phase, though she is perfectly capable. We went clear over our "bugaboo" fence (the ditch and rail). The first time she saw that, in competition, she wouldn't go within 5 strides of it. We also did some solid training (and a couple of Prelim, I think) fences, to remind her that being sloppy with her feet is NOT the way to go. The big stone wall, the full Training water combination (both ways), the big wall, the "box" (don't know the real name) going into the woods, the training logs in the woods and the prelim (I assume) logs coming out of the woods, thwe agon of logs, the white coop, and so on.

The Helsinki was where she really taught herself a lesson. She came in under it, and had to really twist to make it over without touching it. Second time through she did it perfectly.

In between, I got to feast on the various offerings. The smoked turkey and the little apple pastries were particularly memorable. And I ate more brownies and chocolate cookies than I ought to.

It was nice to put faces and horses with the names, though I am afraid I will not be able to keep them straight for long.

Sorry Janet. I had posted I could not make it, but it probebly got lost in the shuffle. Two weeks ago my horse again came up lame. On thurday I look him to the vet and he said Navicular. Then he got nuclear cintigraphy done, and then he said navicular and a fractured coffin bone. /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I also had to work at the barn, since my instuctur is on vacation. My horse also got new shoes at nine in the morning, and I just could not make it out. Maybe next time....

No locker room speeches. No playbooks. No contracts or free agents. Not even a word spoken between teammates. Doesn't that make it the greatest of all team sports?

Lisamarie ,you have got to post that tabletop jump picture. It is absolutely breathtaking! Plus, the fact that we made poor Pheonix jump it TWICE just so you could get a picture means you just have to post it.

My own (sadly, non digital) pics are developing as I write this. Hopefully at least a few of the 50+ snaps I took will come out. I can only hope that my camera's autofocus was able to compensate for my having a few of Lisamaries mimosas!

I think that is the best picture I have of her jumping.

She hesitated, slightly, just before this point- after her front end was up, but before she pushed off with her hind end. i think she was just double checking the landing sode. Anyway, that put me ahead of her. And I am going to blame that for my leg swinging back to.

I must send HUGE accolades to the always-prepared LisaMarie with her bountiful stash of Mimosa's. I KNEW there was a reason you all got me to jump everything /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
And a special thanks to both she and Dogchushu for snapping what is sure to be WONDERFUL pics of my beloved babies...

Trixie...Yep, I have a roll here! Got it developed, you should have one and a half in your mega-bag somewhere /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

As For Zoey...Well, I have a sad ending to her torrid love affair. Poor Zoey has had her first taste of a real man. Love em and Leave em. It is such a sorrowful lesson for a young girl to learn. Monty promised a phone call, but I keep telling Zoey you have to wait at least 24 hours...they never call the next day after such a torrid affair.
Well, Zoey was inconsolable. I tried cheering her up, she even got a bath (she's actually white and fluffy now and LOOKIN' HOT!) Well, I took her to the barn, I took her to the store...I took her to the tack store where she promptly attempted suicide via RAT POISEN!
Zoey is now sitting hooked up to a Vitamin K drip with charcoal chaser. Ugh. /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

She'll recover, but of course she had me a little worried. When you give it up so easy to a first love, you risk this type of thing...
Hmmmmm...

In any regard, I'm home with Dog Number One, after a very tumultuous day. Vet came out for regular stuff...Checking eyes, checking the gargantu-lump in Phinny's head, and all that fun stuff. Vet washed Phin's tear ducts out and found that one may be damaged from his knock on the noggin...

So...on to the fun stuff...Lisa! Where are Those PICS???

After I bit the dust on that one jump, I kind of forgot, then remembered later. YEA, when I went out again with VASaddlefitter, I followed her and he just loved it. We did them twice. Then I followed her over those 3 logs that he was scared of, downhill and it was a piece of cake. Will try it uphill next time. VASF's pretty mare was a great leader!! And it was her first time out.

OH, and another thing that happened that I forgot about but thought was so funny. When I was waiting to go in for my second puddle jumper class, there were all these people, horses, dogs, dust & confusion and in the midst I heard someone yell really loud "HA HA" (like from the Simpsons) Heheeee, maybe you had to be there, I was ROFL /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Not quite! But the poor H literally ate dust. I let a tired H head towards this jump with no impulsion, he missjudged the ground line and ended up stepping into the jump, then scrambling over, landing on his shins on the other side. And boy did it take forever, it was like in slow motion. I could hear FW saying "uh oh," "oops" "okay" He ended up kind of sliding on his belly, then got up and kept going. Since he stayed completely balanced during the whole thing, I was able to stay on. We did it again and he was fine. Then we called it a day! /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif He came home with dirty galloping boots and that's all.

I've still got a silly grin, ear to ear, from Sunday. It was SO fun. When can we do it again?

I also watched Hector heroically stay upright after he missed the groundline on that one fence. It did not ride well. The bigger option next to it, caused less problems from my short time watching.

Thanks again bgoosewood for accompanying me around. I was feeling a bit shy (now, all those lurking who KNOW me from other forums, pick your jaw up) as I hadn't posted on here often. I was a smidge worried that..oh, I dunno....it was silly.

Kennett Square said that the woman in the black and red jacket, very cute blond hair, sitting with her back to the jumpers on the end of the table, had asked about Jordan's breeding.

Here it is:

Sire: Ayes Turn (1977) by Best Turn out of Winking Aye

Dam: Persnickty Angel

Breeder: Phyllis Dawson (yes, she of the 1988 Seoul Olympics). She and her farm partner Jeanine started him and I bought him as a 3 yr old. They did a great job with him and have a top notch operation going.
