I've fulfilled at least one resolution from New Year 2001 - I've met Moesha. And much to my delight, he's a wonderful, witty, compassionate person and an accomplished and caring horseman.

Plus, he knows all the best bars.

20. Thing you would change most about the BB - Personally, I like the dungeon idea.

Caring people who want to help, and if you have a question, there is always somebody here who knows the answer.

Linda Allen and the AHSA rules reorganization thing (initiated by a question and prodding from Snowbird, I have to add). Linda's incredible energy and committment to improving the sport led to me getting involved in a lot of things and getting to know a lot of people I never, ever, would have had the opportunity to otherwise -- and it all came out of this BB.

23. In general - how was 2001 for you?
Personally, not bad, not bad at all. I've been very blessed -- something I need to keep in mind more often.

22. Has any - one/thing/topic - changed the way you live? In terms of? Many things have made me who I am today. Are you talking about the bb having an influence? Probably. I spend a lot of time here. There is much knowledge to share and from which we can all learn.
23. In general - how was 2001 for you? Fabulous. And a very "growing" year. I sent Willow to Canada, which was a huge deal for me. I turned 30, which has been fantastic. I started working out and have achieved many personal goals for becoming a better person.

Action-Packed, baby: recovered sufficiently from BAD car accident to ride, started teaching professionally, started new relationship with new stable, and got my credentials, got a new horse, sold about 3 of my own plus about 50 of a friend's, coached professionally at shows for the first time, major shake up of life routine, found out new horse might be pregnant- found out she wasn't, sold and bought (each) about 3 saddles, bought whole new horsey wardrobe for me and horsey, had a LOT of fun with Hubby and had lots of time to really enjoy myself and my own life, and realized I really like the way I live my life.

2. Thread that has impacted you the most - in what way? On a very deep personal level, I'll go with everyone else and say the Sept 11 threads. On an competitor level, probably the NGB discussions (like to stay informed).

Well I have been fortunate enough to meet the darling Chef (at my own office no less) and Merry. Taryn and I board at the same barn, so I get to see her a few times a week! Khobstetter gave my brother and I our very first hunt seat lessons! AAJumper, Akrogirl and Cactuskate met up with Taryn and me at The Oaks, where we just missed Chef and N2Jumper. Dublin and I are possibly going to meet soon, and as many BBers as possible will be having dinner at Indio!

And MAD and I are on the phone a lot, which introduced me to Alice Debaney which hooked me up with Princess Haya, who is SUCH a doll for everything she did getting our team down to Madrid!

But the list of BBers I want to meet is endless. Everyone I email, everyone who I have posted "with" and pretty much everyone else, as well. Can't we have a big party at Devon one year?

And Dru has not only become a dear friend, but always keeps everyone here up to date on the latest with approved helmets.

Well, as I age, it seems my children do too. I'm shocked that my daughter (my first baby) is on the verge of adolescence and that Sumo will turn 4 (oh sniff, sniff) in less than two weeks time.

I find this quite hilarious. Well over half of these posts say "most annoying username:- ObiliviousJumper." To clue those of you that don't understand this 'username' in... I selected this name quite meticuliously. I feel that when I mess up on my courses in the classes I am just like ugh i dont know but i feel like so incredibly oblivious. like duh.. so i find it not so nice that you guys are sitting here and like totally hating me b/c of my opinion. I kinda think thats shallow in some ways. I mean, I seriously don't care who hates me but, isnt it nice to have people that dont hate you? oh yeah and for those of you wondering, I purposely spelled Oblivious wrong b/c that made an even better touch to the name. If it REALLLLY bugs you, i suppose i could just change it!

Yea! Dublin likes my screen name! I was actually thinking of changing it because it's kinda dorky and a lot of people have asked me what the heck it means (FYI, it means most of my shoes have teeth marks in them from teething canines!)

Now, now Oblvious, no one said they hated you. And I'm really sorry if I hurt your feelings with my post. If it makes you feel any better, Moesha called me "dog tissue" at FPP he thought my name was so wierd! /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I thought that was hilarious!

It's just that the story behind your name isn't apparent to most of us who read it. Because of that it seems, to me at least, either incredibly self denegrating or that you take pride in being oblivious. I realise, from your post, that isn't what you meant. But I didn't know that before and unless everyone knows the background, that name really isn't the best "advertising" for you.

Why do you like my username? I'm torn between the COTH Charity horse show and the You're so Vain threads. Those songs (especially HITS Show California) still give me a giggle, and this year has been desperately in need of giggles.

September 11th... We were at work and could not find a TV, and the internet news services were overloaded. Between this BB and some very heartfelt conversations with AHC, our office knew what was happening almost real time /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

That's a tough one... I've changed the way I ride (presumably for the better), the way I take care of my horses, all due to various excellent suggestions on this BB, but my life hasn't changed... unless you count a lot more hours online? /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Like Lily, I can't wait for 2002 to boot 2001 in the ass. I started out this year and ended it by putting down two of my dear horses, and had September 11, to put the sorrows of my life into perspective. We all deserve better than that. What a sad not to end this on... Whatever else has happened this year, I know that I have lots of dear friends that are there for me. 1. Your Favorite Thread of the Year - Double Jeopardy. I like to see if I can come up with the answers.

2. Thread that has impacted you the most - The original high oil diet thread. It probably saved my 6 year old TB when I realized that his lack of condition may be due to EPSM (which I always had associated with draft horses).

3. Thread that just wouldn't die - The California Clique and Junior clique threads made me twitch. So much bandwidth and, in many cases, so little content /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif *ducks rocks thrown from CC and JC members*.

4. Thread that you wish had never died - Too many to mention. I get way too much enjoyment from this BB.

5. Topic that has given you re-occuring nightmares - Without a doubt the Musical Jumper thread.

6. Person who posts for no reason but to see their name in lights - Can't think of anyone; I think that most people just post to get their voice heard.

22. Has any - one/thing/topic - changed the way you live? Not really. I switched to an approved helmet about 7 years ago after reading the e-mail list Equine-L. Guess I'm set in my ways.

23. In general - how was 2001 for you? Started off bad - could not get the mare in foal, Chrissy hurt her eye and my employer was acquired and the IT department was downsized. Improved when Chrissy's eye healed, the Winged T mare decided to finally cycle and then got in foal, and Thursday I was finally offered a position with the acquiring firm. Which means I get to continue to work in the town which is the home to PEEPS!

VTRider is in that preliminary state of confusion regarding her "riding lifestyle" and she's just overcompensating with her Hunter Princess-ness.

1) Middleburg Classic Outside Course. Many show venues don't have room for outside courses. But everyone I know would fair just fine on them.
2) Classics can have 12 jumps in them!

Our oxers aren't always ramped! Oh and one more thing tle, I only do the jumpers and we don't do outside diagnol outside. And there is nothing wrong with those types of courses in the Hunters, the finesse to put in a smooth flowing hunter trip takes a soft feel and and accurate eye that many people cannot do to do it right

I guess I like eventing better than hunters because it's less formulaic. And much more individual and expressive. And very international. I mean, where else besides North America does the "show hunter" world exist?

And I've always been confused about this... why is it again that you can't ride your horse outside of an enclosed arena? I can never remember if it's because the horse costs so much, the insurance company won't let you... Or because the rider doesn't actually know how to steer, the horse is "autopilot" for outside-diagonal-outside-diagonal... Or is it because the riders have no sense of direction and will get lost if they're not going in a circle?

And how do you all avoid those pesky DEA officers when obtaining the cocaine necessary for your horse to perform a lovely hunter round?

BTW, have we mentioned that there are actually some cute, STRAIGHT guys who event? /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I know of at least one gorgeous straight male who does hunter/jumper (quiet you big mouths who know to whom I am referring!)

Personally, I feel it is much more important to look good than to feel good - and we hunter riders look mahvelous. No tacky, yellow with green saddle pads, big headed horses heaving over venus flytrap looking fences, and hey, how about looking like your are moving with the horse instead of fighting with it and that steel cannonball you have in it's mouth for control purposes /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

What I don't understand is why hunters bother to travel to different cities...they set up the exact same 8 fences regardless of the place. Wouldn't it make more sense to move the fences and not the horses? (and if it's a Classic its STILL the same eight fences, you just do more of the same.)

That I had the luxury of meeting Portia at last year's Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event, and she was nothing more than a delight. This year, P, if you're going to attend, we'll have to sit (and drink) together!!! LOL!

Also, ETBW, who I think I failed to mention in my initial response, is consistently a real friend and a very charming person on the bb. She always has a good link and a good recipe! I know I would gain 20 lbs. if she and I lived in the same region! (ETBW, email me for "menu review" for my holiday brunch this Sunday.)

I'm also happy we have a good BB Administrator (who events, so take that VT Rider) and "staff" to moderate here.

The only people I truly can't stand are those who purposefully lie and make themselves out to be something they're not, or purposefully try to mislead people. I just think that's really, really low.
20. Thing you would change most about the BB - I know some people feel excluded or left out, which I wish wasn't the case. It can be hard to be heard out here sometimes, I guess.

I haven't been on long enough to comment on most of these, but I'm having a blast wasting time here trying to catch up on everything.

Thanks so much to Fairweather for inviting me to the FPP outing, where I got to meet a bunch of you, I wish I could have gone on Sunday night, but I was exhausted. I'd been to a party that didn't end until 4am Sunday morning /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif .

Now, that whole eventers/hunters/jumpers thing....I WANT to do it all (well, except showing dressage /infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif )! But, can't deal with hanging out for hours on end because you never know when your class will come up in the hunters/jumpers.

Fun crowd, and I'll try to come to the next outing.
