Oct. 7, 2001, 04:41 PM
Showjumps is the owner of Mardi Gras, and she very generously allowed me to ride him. He was wonderful .
Sadly, the real Creseida wasn't feeling up to the task of an excursion to FPP. With the wind blowing and tarps billowing at home, I would have expected her to be her usual Miss Twinkle Toes. /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
By her *not* reacting or showing the slightest bit of interest in work, the Tarp-Monstre or anything else, I knew she wasn't herself and she'd not have any fun. /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
The Mystery Horse #2 with Mardi Gras is Ordained, owned & ridden by the ever generous Showjumps, who is riding with a broken leg! Brave soul she is!!
My thanks again to Showjumps for allowing me to come and ride. /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
Auntie Pat, I'd love to see the other pictures of Mardi making me look good! You don't have an e-mail addy in your profile!

What great pics - am truly envious of seeing riders since I've been sidelined since April w/ broken bones, etc. & have a "greenie" who definitely could have used the exposure!
If you have another VA-local get-together, count me in - at least to bring some eats - nothing's broken to prevent me from cooking!! Am fairly new to both this board & Virginia (know virtually no one!) & would love to make some equine "connections".

Poor Ordained... Always overshadowed by his older brother... I keep telling him his day will come. /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
We had a blast. It was nice meeting averyone. Creseida did great with Mardi and he really enjoyed it. She actually did me a favor. I don't think I could have managed riding both. And lord help me if ONE of them gets more attention than the other!! (Auntie Pat; I won't mention to Ordained he was 'mystery horse #2' LOL)
I think Mardi had the best time. He went in to 'babysitter' mode (not that Creseida needs it) and cruised around. Of course 'mom' gets on and he shifts into 'jumper' mode /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif I wanted 'babsitter' mode too!! /infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif Except for a few discplinary issues, Ordained was an angel. For a horse that has been on a "break" (haha) for 4 weeks he was perfect!
Have to say the food was outrageous! Bye Bye diet... We all stuffed ourselves before and after riding!

I actually rode Wings and had my first ever canter on him. He learned so much, he now knows that he can pick up two feet at the same time!
Moesha very kindly tried him out and gave Wings rave reviews.
We ate and rode and ate and rode and all had a wonderful time. Much to my dismay, as we were packing up to leave I found 18 deviled eggs in the RV refrigerator! /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif No one wanted them, they were all too full.

Poor Wings was positively dull in comparison to the many coats and patterns present.
Pocket Change showed what a brave and bold pony he is by toting Miss Aimee about on her first experience with a group outing and cross country obstacles. He gave Wings a lead over the tiniest of basic obstacles out in the open and then showed the way over the ditches (at a walk, thank you!) and the water. Our two boys were befuddled over the water until a pair of gorgeous warmbloods sloshed their way through. "Oh, I can do THAT! " was Wings' sentiment and the pair went through nicely after that.
Jack is a remarkably spotted appy, he and Wings got some ring work while we were there. Jacksmom received quite a few comments in praise of her boy.

It was so nice to meet so many new people (and horses, of course). EBTW, you outdid yourself per usual. Highlights for me included:
1. Watching beautiful horses and really accomplished riders;
2. Seeing all the young horses deport themselves so admirably;
3. Seeing ETBW take the real Wings over his first ever jump!
4. Watching Moesha teach Wings his first canter depart;
5. Meeting Jacksmom and Jack (a gorgeous TB/Appy cross who tells his mom when he needs to go pee);
6. Meeting other BB'ers JAGold, Auntie Pat, Fairweather, AM, PaintPony, and several others whose user names I never discovered (including our very own one-eyed equestrian).
We have to do this again so Clive's mom, Creisida, Moesha, Elghund and Cactus Lil (and ME(!!)) can bring our horsies!
And oh my Elghund and Cactus Lil - THAT CAKE!!!!!

HN73 and MargaretF! We had food left over due to your absenteeism.
Clive's Mom very cleverly reported a Kennett Square sighting, diverting several of us into a mad dash across the course while she packed Harry and Mr. Clive's Mom into the car. Inverness, ever alert, quickly showed us our error but by that time no leftovers could be forced on the fleeing family! Auntie Pat had just decided to partake of the spicy sirloin chili when the frenzy occured. I wouldn't want to be Ms. Clive's Mom! /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif
There were other people out and about at Frying Pan, all casting jealous glances at our wondrous feast. The park management made us a part of their harvest festival tour, towing wagons full of wide eyed onlookers past our gathering. Oh the envious faces as they trundled past the BBers! /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I agree about the deviled eggs and my SO is very upset with me for leaving the Baileys...he had plans on drinking it today and tomorrow. Hey Fairweather, since you took the Baileys I think it's only fair you give Mark to me. He's such a wonderful horse and so pretty.

ETBW, Well I wasn't supposed to jump or gallop Madhi so I decided I would just jump a few fences under 3'. He's jumped everything there besides the new fences they put up this spring so it's really just a piece of cake for him. Madhi's a very good boy and more then willing to try his heart out, he's even schooled some intermediate stuff in a clinic better then some intermediate horses. Now he'll never compete intermediate but it's fun to school.
I hope you enjoy the Baileys and thank you again for such a wonderful layout. You, your husband, niece and Auntie Pat were very kind and generous to all of us!! THANK YOU!!!! times a million. /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Lower leg that always swings back, hands that insist on remaining horizontal and staring straight down like an idiot instead of "eyes ahead to the next spot" /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
Kennett Square will have things to say to me about this!
Pockets and Aimee did wonderfully. Many of you know our recent upset in discovering Pock's failing eyesight. Aimee did not attempt to gallop across the course but carefully went to each obstacle deemed visible for the pony and gave him a chance to inspect it before trotting over. He has to cock his head to use his good eye. He and Aimee gave old ETBW and young Wings a lead over the little ones we tried.
Golly am I sore today, tomorrow will be worse, much worse!
