View Full Version : Gift ideas for farrier school graduate
May. 27, 2012, 09:10 PM
Hi Everyone! Someone close to me recently graduated from farrier school. Any suggestions on what a good graduation gift would be? I think she has most of her tools from when she was in school so I wouldn't rule out something gifty.
In case I go the gc route where's a good place to buy farrier supplies?
Thanks for suggestions in advance. :)

I got a neighbor boy a high school graduation gift of a
gift certificate to St Croix Forge (regional for us) and
they sent the catalog along with the certificate. He had
a great time drooling over all the wonderful items there
but waited until he was through farrier school to buy
the things he liked best.

Not sure of your price range but a nice little Oxy/Acetalyne outfit would make a great gift. It will really give him a lot of versatilty in the field and allow him to sell add ons like Borium and bar shoes.
I used this one for years before I upgraded.
If you want to get a gift cert would recommend
They have good prices.
Cash is good too, he will need plenty of that LOL

The recent graduate leaves school with only the basic tools and will always be adding better quality tools and more little things to make the job easier. So perhaps a gift certificate to the nearest farrier supply? Or if they are setting up a shoeing rig, maybe a good bench grinder, drill press, or pad cutter?

Yes to any farrier supply store gift certificate. I'd also say a gift certificate to a place like Subway. Farriers are always hungry:)

As a 'gift' topper... how about this horse brass. The design is that of a sign that used to hang at English inns to show a farrier was available there.
Ebay has them often at all sorts of prices.
