View Full Version : Helmet from UK "Kitemarked"

I'm looking at a helmet from the UK. It is described as having a "full Kitemarked rating BSEN1384"

Does anyone know if that rating is approved for shows here in the US?

I did a search and came up with that it is roughly equivalent to the ASTM/SEI approval, but that the standard may not be quite as rigorous as here in the US.

This is a useful guide http://www.beta-uk.org/media/safety/download/BETA%20Guide%20to%20Riding%20Hats%20Shortened%20fo r%20Booklet.pdf which suggests it is acceptable. But don't take my word: ask the organisation that runs your discipline

It is the British approval system.

But the US rules talk about "ASTM" approved. If it doesn't say "ASTM" it doesn't satisfy the US rules.

If it doesn't have ASTM and SEI markings on the specific helmet itself, it isn't ok for USEF.

Thanks, that's what I was afraid of. Too bad as it's a much nicer helmet than I can afford on this side of the pond.
