We could discuss struggles of managing riding/school etc.

Any takers?

That sucks...really wanted to go to the show (we were trying to raise some $$ for our team). Looks like I will be stuck at my desk working on this crap!

My disgruntlement: I don't like waking up so I scheduled classes later on in the day (10:30 MWF and 12 TTh). Well the exam gods decided to tortue me with 7:30 exams two days in a row. It is not cool. Not to mention I have two exams the day before the 7:30 mess and the last one doesn't end until 10 PM.

Still in classes (till Friday).

Have 2 presentations and 2 papers to finish.

Finals on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Was scheduled to have one next Friday, but the prof decided she didn't want to stay here that long either.

Cannot wait to get back home and start riding seriously again!

Count me in! I am just glad I made it through last week, 37 pages worth of term papers! ( but I still made it to an OAR concert on Thursday /infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif I have one exam this week and my English final paper due on Friday. Next week it's 3 exams (2 of which are at 8 am /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif )so by the 18th I am done!

Did you guys schedule classes for next sememster? At UM those with the most credits register first. I am a freshman, so I got stick with an 8am bio lab on Tuesday and an 8am Chem lab on Thursday. All other days I don't start until 10:30 /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

As far as the horse related part goes, I am digruntled because I don't get to ride at all during the week. I get to come home to foxhunt on the weekends though.

Enough of my whining now, it is almost time for my 5 week winter break!

I took my business final last night, and finished my microbiology lab final after that (it was open book.) Organic chemistry is take-home, but closed book, and I already have the test; it's due Wednesday. The envelope feels faaaaaat. /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif The microbiology lecture final can be taken anytime on Tuesday, closed book. It will be mostly essay, scary hard. If I get chemistry done today, I can study all day tomorrow for micro.

To make this horse related, I rode for the last time this semester on reading day - Friday. My favorite school horse, who has been plagued with lameness issues, was sound and we jumped around a little figure 8 course very nicely. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

My classes aren't over until Wednesday, but I have a butt-load of work due on Tuesday. My school has self-scheduled exams, meaning you can take them any time during the exam period. It's really nice, because you can wait until the last day of finals if you have lots of studying to do, or take them all at the beginning if you want to go home early. I can't seem to motivate myself though. We got six inches of snow last night and all I want to do is lay in bed with a cup of coffee and watch Friends reruns. Big sigh.

To make this horse-related: I have been so busy lately, I'm lucky if I see a horse out the car window while I'm driving to school, never mind actually TOUCH one. /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

IGotSpirit.... no clue why my school is like that. we used to get out around mid/early-december, but this year they changed it. the whole thing is a bad idea if you ask me.

Now I am off to go finish a term paper on Media Law and Cyber Ethics. Then for the rest of the week....I have a take-home philosophy final to do, two multimedia projects to complete (or start over actually, seeing as my friend erased my
CD-RW with all my work on it....) and a photography portfolio to put together. Fun times.

Needless to say my horse won't be seeing much of me this week...

Good luck to everyone with finals this week....

Our finals start today, but not for me, mine start tomorrow. I'm stressing. Ech, going to hack Serengeti later tody because if I don't I might snap. Last night I took the screen off my window and threw my books out teh window. Then I had to go get them and felt a bit stupid, btu I did feel better... I'm excited about getting to go home, but that means I have to leave Serengeti here for three weeks (not driving the trailer through snowy mountains) and I'm stopping overnight going and coming back.

Count me in too!! The one good thing about med school is that I only have one final at a time, but we seem to cover more in a two week course than I ever learned in 16 weeks of an undergrad course so it ends up worse overall. I can't wait till it's done and I can go home, but that means leaving my 3 babies here for 2 weeks /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif At least I get to see them everyday while I am here, I opted to live off campus to be closer to them, and way cheaper. Joining the party late...just finished my last week of classes, but have three huge finals this week on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Also a project due for Personal Finance on Tuesday. Finals take all the fun out of the holidays!

However, my fiance and I are having my parents, brother, and my sister and her fiance up for Christmas and I can't wait! Haven't seen everyone since last Chrismtas (since they live in CO & AZ). And my mare who was lame in mid-fall is back to soundness and work. We are fitting in some dressage and jumping lessons before my trainers leave for Florida - lucky them!

Last week I had three group projects that all needed presentations... one project was 35 pages, and guess who did it all... One presentation was in an Auditorium (read: movie theatre) with microphones and everything. /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

I have one tomorrow; I have to finish up the paper part of it and get it bound at Kinko's. I am debating wearing my sexy new boots for the presentation, but I haven't decided yet.

Then I have four finals Tuesday-Friday.

And then I'm DONE!

I was pretty calm and cool this weekend (mainly because I've been really sick, so the drugs kept me placid) but, while at work today, I realized just how much I have to do. Now I'm going to whine about it, because, dang it, I want to!

I have a poetry final tomorrow that I am not fearing. We got the essay questions ahead of time and get an 8x11 sheet of notes. Yeah, I'm loving poetry right about now /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

But, then I have a presentation (UGH), a Psych Statistics paper (double UGH), an English final on many books I have not read, and a Shakespeare final. Shakespeare should be easy - we get our choice of plays to write on (1 topic for each of 7 plays, but we only have to do 4.. so I only have to READ 4..) and I'm feelin' no pain staring at my prof for 4 hours /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Then, maybe, I'll get to ride my horse again! He was lame last week, and I'll be in hiding this week, so maybe next week will be good to us.

So, what are everyone's favorite caffiene/all-nighter hints?

Okay so lets see. Humanities final tomorrow, covering greek and roman literature and philosophy(Oddessey, Aeneid, Lysistrata, Timeaus, the Republic, etc...) and 77 slides of Greek and Roman architecture and art, what they are, who made them and when. Then Tuesday is Government 25 points of Multiple Choice questions then ONE 75 point essay. His example for teh essay topic. Politics, who, what, when, where, why, adn how. (as an example)then on to Nat Sci, his description of the exam, and I quote "there will be two parts part one, then I'll take that up, then part two and I'll take that up." THen lastly French which will kick my tail, but that's okay because i'm not taking french anymore, going back to spanish, being trilangual ain't working out for me /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Grrrrrrr....working on the 3 essays that consist of one of my finals. Do I care about Socrates? No, absolutely not. I have my last day of classes tomorrow, where I will get back my final grade for my Effective Communications class (which shoud be awesome bc my teacher LOVED both my final presentations even though my other group members such at public speaking...at least my indiviual grade was good!). I have chem revioe at 8am, and then calc (guess who is very lost in that class), and then communications, and the bio. I have Tuesday off, which means I will be studying all day for my bio and chem finals which are on Wed and Thurs, respectively. Then I have Calc on Sat am which I will be studying for all day on Friday....I hate that class. And I have to work sooooo hard to do well in it!

Sat afternoon I will be chillin at the barn Christmas party at home with all my horsy family!! I can not wait! I am going to walk in the barn and whistle and my fave guy is gonna look up and whinny and I am gonna see all the horses and people that I miss so much and.....

This whole week revolves around me going home on Sat....that will be what IU think about everyday. Just study now bc in a few days you will be home....just study now bc in a few days you will be home....just study noe bc in a few days you will be home....

Last week, we had a group presentation for a leadership class that I am in (worth 25% of our grade). Well, we divided the work up and assigned people to bring different parts of the presentation (video, powerpoint, game, etc.). We were scheduled to present at 8:00 a.m.

8:00 6 of 7 group members present, jokingly suggest that missing group member over slept.
8:05 still missing a girl. Who has our powerpoint and game.
8:10 still missing girl.
8:15 teacher nice, and decides to let us fill out
teacher evalutaions...
8:25 decide to call missing group member to find out where the hell she is...
8:26 wake group member up at her off campus apartment 15 minutes away
8:50 group member arrives after getting speeding ticket for running stop sign and speeding
8:51 group presents.... want to know the topic of our presentation? teamwork and working together... How delightfully ironic! /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif The teacher was really nice though, so it wasn't a big deal. Plus we joked to the class and told them to stay after class if they wanted to see an example of working together--- in the form of a lynch mob! /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Duramax, I hate group stuff too. It always seems like there's one or two people who do all the work and everybody else slacks off. The aforementioned 35 page marketing project was my baby and caused me to neglect my operations project... but I'm hoping I'll make it up to my group by putting it all together and getting it bound. /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

BTW, the marketing project group members... two of them flat out refused to present, so I reamed them on peer evaluations. Ooooops. /infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Ha ha, the Matrix has been on all weekend, as well as Batman, Mortal Combat, 3 Days (made me cry), Miracle on 34th Street, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and many others. I know this because I have had them on in the background all weekend. Okay, to make you guys feel better, here's an embarassing finals angst story:

Okay so got annoyed, walked out to the truck, got the hammer and screw driver out of the tool box, come upstairs, take the screen out of the window and ceremoniously throw each book out of the window. Put the screen back in place, walk outside, stomp on the books, adn then calmly pick them up, return upstairs, and go back to studying.

I popped blood vessels in my eye (don't ask me how, cuz I have no idea!) a few weeks ago, and decided that it was because my brain has gotten too big and was pressing against my eyeball. I sure hope that wasn't the case bc I may have two bloody eyes after this week!!

No brain related injuries to report yet. Although I did nearly fall down the stairs the other night (my brain was not functioning properly for some reason...) and I was typign an essay today and got up to go to the bathroom, but on my sandals, opened the door, and forgot what I was going to do. Of course, I took off my sandals, sat down, started typing again, and then said..."oh yeah!." So I got up and went...in the words of my old trainer, "BRAIN FART!" God how I miss him....

There goes my mind..wandering again. I think I will go to sleep now so I am alert for my last classes tomorrow! Good luck on all your finals guys!!

Ugh. I hate poetry. No, wait, I kind of like poetry. I hate the pigslop that this class tries to pass off as poetry. Worthless, worthless stuff. And I have to prepare 4 essays for my exam tomorrow. ARGH.

Serengeti - I don't have a screen on my window, so it'll be that much easier to chuck my poetry book out late, late tonight. I fully intend on having a little bonfire with the covers of my course reader (I don't think I could set the actual poems on fire, it's not their fault the class is boring) tomorrow afternoon.

So.. should I sell each textbook back right after the exam, as a kind of "Freedom! Freedom!" thing, or should I wait 'till Saturday and sell them back at once?

(must turn on Matrix, now.. it got me through freshman year term papers. Maybe after XFiles is over)

Jo
Dec. 9, 2001, 09:17 PM
Delighted, I always sell back my books at one time just because the lines are HORRENDOUS! You'd think they'd get more people to work, but no, it's always the same two people working when all 3500 students are trying to sell back their books. /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Well, am currently in la libaria at 2 AM with no plans to leave until it's time to hand the papers in at 9:30 AM. In other words, I am most DEFINITELY in. /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I've come up with the following fabulous 10 reasons for why finals can actually be a good thing... /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

1)You can make new friends bumming cigarettes off of people outside the library.
2)You can reunite with old friends at the library whom you haven't seen since freshman year.
2)Study groups offer a way to seduce cute boys present. Bring candy. Ask them all about their exam schedules and let them vent. And either impress them with your steller knowledge of the subject and play ms.sweetness by offering them extra help OR know nothing, play ms.naivete and conive them into some one on one tudoring time where you drool over their every word.
3)You have every reason to eat whatever you want and drink as much caffeine as you can take.
4)Depriving yourself of sleep makes you appreciate it that much more when you can finally get some!
5)Depriving yourself of alcohol makes you appreciate it that much more when you can finally get some!
6)Summer repeats of your favorite TV shows missed won't be repeats to you.
7)Knowledge is power. /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif
8)There's no greater bliss than that "I just finnished all of my exams" feeling.
9)You have a good, legitimate excuse for not showering for a few days and being a total scrub... you don't have to just chalk it up to laziness anymore.
10)Failing classes just means that you get to postpone your entrance into the real world. /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

And wait, IGotSprite, you had time to sleep?

It's officialy finals week here....I have two today, and one Friday - plus a "make up class" on Thursday night.

My brain is soooo fried. All I've been doing this weekend is studying Buddhism. In fact, I have left my house for a total of 20 minutes since Friday at 9pm. And I've had on real pants (i.e. not my fleecy pj bottoms from Old Navy) all of an hour all weekend. I'm not even putting on real pants for my tests...I figure if they're gonna make me take a 3 hour exam, I'm gonna be comfy.

Sparyk22...I did the bloodvessle in the eye thing a month or so ago. Hurts like a sonofabch doesn't it?? I was told it's due to stress. Not tooo much stress here this time, yet. No stress needed until my History final for Friday.

But after today, I get a two 1/2 day break so I'm going to go see my boy and get out of dodge. Then it's back here for Russian class (but she's feeding us, so it can't be all bad) and a History final...then I'm OFFICIALY a second semester senior. Woo!

I'm rambling....can you tell I didn't get much sleep last night? I was in bed at 10:45, like a good girl, but I couldn't sleep. So I got up, played some Snood and finaly fell asleep on the couch at 2am. And it's not 7:30am, which means it's time to go to the breakfast room and toast, cream-cheese, and jelly a bagle.

Good luck to all!!!

Ya know, that's the funny thing...I didn't even notice it until one of my teammates decided to ask me what I had been smokin'. Haha...I never would have noticed it had it not been for all the people staring at me (yes, even more than usual).

Tomorrow is the day I've been dreading for weeks. I have my music presentation (40 minutes, all alone!) and my art history exam. I am woefully unprepared for the latter, and haven't given much thought to the first because it fills me with a feeling of imminent doom. But I skipped school today to stay home in my nice little apartment, so I can study. Now, if I could just get my arse off the BB I'd be fine!

But after tomorrow, life will be so sweet! Granted, I will still have three papers and two exams to finish, but the presentation will be over! Oh happy day!

Big sigh. Time to make a giant pot of coffee and buckle down with the seventeenth-century Dutch painters. /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

PJ pants were MADE for taking finals in.

I'd be wearing them today except have a presentation tonight that requires business attire. Blegh. /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Wed., Thurs., and Fri., however, are all about the PJ pants.

Well, I'd like to report that I followed through on my noble intention to study ALL weekend, but alas on Friday night I was sidetracked by an impromptou "beach party" across the hall. This, sadly, led to a rather unpleasant Saturday morning, slowing my progress down still further. What was I thinking?! I need every braincell I can get! Oh well...at least for a few hours I was happy.

Last night I lost my art history textbook. I just about went out of my mind. I tore apart the entire apartment, and was about to sit down and cry myself to sleep when I saw the corner of it poking out of my enormous laundry pile. What was it doing there? Hiding from me, most likely.

I have now had so much coffee that I cannot see straight. My eyes are taking turns twitching. /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

False alarm! I have found my bio notes, and it appears that the only thing that is still missing is my mind!

Bio notes were in my desk (I thought it was just paper because there was plain paper on top of them). Of course, I am so blind that I didn't see them...the only thing I can do in my blindness is ride. That's it. I can't read, can't write, can't use a computer, can't read signs, chalkboards, etc. I can only ride. I betcha I probably wouldn't be able to find a jump if I could see!

OK, my last bio class is over, I have to finish this Socrates essay before I hit the gym (if I am feeling ambitious), then study for bio, tutor a couple of people for chem, and then....do it all some more.

Youth where art thou?

Wohoo!! Wrote 1 of my finals this morning - went alright, I figure the maximum points I lost will have been 40 out of 100, and, likely, hopefully, I'll have lost less than that :-) (I, personally, like 90% + <g> )

So...6 more sleesp and I'll be heading home to see my pony (err..rather large pony....hehe)!!

Just in case this helps anybody, I've some tips re: exams...it's basically what I personally do.

Buy nutricious, healthy food that doesn't take forever to prepare.
Eat properly.
Chocolate as a snack is good.
Caffeine (read: pepsi) is good, but not in excess
Apple cider before bed is better.
Study until 10, shower, and go to BED.
sleep from 10:30 through 6:30, and then get up and resume a final once-over of everything before going to school for exam.

I truly find that if I manage my time, get 8 hrs of sleep, and do an easy once-over that morning, the exam goes relatively well. AND it helps aleive stress.

A key factor in stress relief is shrieking and shouting on occasion too. no matter what the neighbors think of you.....

One down, wasn't soooo bad (okay, yeah, I couldn't write a poetry essay to save my life, but hopefully it went okay). We were given the essay topics last week, for which we were allowed a page of notes.

But, the silly freshies didn't grasp that concept.

One by one, they went up to hand in their blue books, exams, and cheat sheets.. only to be told that anything but essay notes on the paper would negate the other parts of their exams. They all got to redo 4 or 5 sections over. Poor people.. pays to be a slacker who didn't bother to put anything worthwhile on a cheatsheet for once..

T'was 2:30 in the a.m.
and through the college girls' house
the lights were all blaring
with movement about.

Frantically finishing papers
and studying for exams
without a moment to eat
or think...
or collapse.

Their horses were snug
in their stalls at the barn
chortling with glee
"Hey, she's not riding me!"

The papers kept coming
the printers kept jamming
the notes kept disappearing
the words in the books kept changing

wait..the words are changing?! What kind of a textbook is this if the words change?! How can you study?! What's right and what's wrong?!

Caffeine overtook
their poor struggling bodies
the world was a nook
the coffee cup, a crany

the horses got lazy
the refrigerator got bare
yet the exams kept-a-commin'
it's not like THEY cared.

Professors kept warning
of difficult tests
they grinned laughed and chortled
but must I digress?

it's now 3:30 am and much to our dismay
the Pizza joint AIN'T open...
well, who needs supper, anyway????

And so we keep studying,
lights all ablaze
without sleep or food
acountin' the days....

ok, so it's actually 6:45 P.M. and I'm procrastinating.....

I just realized that I'm having so much trouble studying tonight because.....the music is wrong. I have celtic music on. This was WONDERFUL for last night, for my algorithm analysis course. However, tonight, for Discrete Math, it just isn't working.

When I studied for the 2nd D.M. midterm, I had Third Eye Blind on. I think I'll be retreating to that option again.

Normally, I listen to country, classical, celtic, or french music. NOrmally, when I study, I only listen to classical/celtic, if anything. Yet...for math.... I require rocky-type music.

Am I insane? Or do others find the same thing?

Off to change the music so's I can study...

I am applying for htis riding scholarship and I needed to recs. So I called my trainer at home and she promised to write a "brilliant" rec for me, and my coach here said that she would write one. I told my trainer that I needed it today (the 11th) at the ABSOLUTE latest. She says no prob, I'll have it mailed to you by Fri at the latest. So ok....yesterday it wasn't here...increased my stress slightly...so I went to the mailroom this morning and it was here! phew! She had sent it priority mail....hmmmm. When did she send it?? I have two of my four finals tomorrow.

The one THursday is for my business law class. Of course, I procrastinated and went out to see "Harry Potter" last night with this hot rugby guy... /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Horse-related. I've ridden once in like two weeks. The weather's not helping, but I just don't have a three-four hour block of time ANYWHERE! I'm about to go out there now because I do not feel like studying yet. My horse is going to forget who I am. I'm going to take her a candy cane.

Instead, I turned off my alarm and slept until 12. My roommate thought I might have died, since I'm usually up way before that. I was planning on NOT getting out of bed today, until I realized just how much is looming for the next two days. Ugh.

Horse related - I really would have liked to go ride this morning. It would have been the perfect time, too, since I wasn't studying anyway. But, my stupid car decided to blow up last week, so I'm stranded downtown. I have no idea what I'm going to do by Friday - probably go into withdrawl or something. The last time I rode was two Saturdays ago - we were at a show, but had to scratch out. He got last week off for his foot, and gets this week off because I'm car-less. For an already hot horse, Sunday's ride is going to be... entertaining, to say the least.

That's what college is for, to teach you what you don't know and how to find the answers. During the teens children all believe they have all the answers to everything and it isn't until they are educated that they find out the truth about themselves.

So, enjoy your grumbling and know that the 5000 years of students who have preceded you endured the same thing and they survived to make this a wonderful world.

Today I have no exams, which means I am spending it studying for tomorrow's exam, and trying to finish my essays that are due tomorrow. Then tonight, I am tutoring someone for our chem final.

Here's what I have learned so far...I may get to graduate a semester early! This means that I can either start my grad program another semester early (plan on starting it the second half of my senior year) or I can take a semester off and go down to FL! WOuldn't that be great? Actually, I was thinking about doing a semester over in Ireland with this new program my school has set up. So I won't end up a semester behind and will be able to graduate on time (under grad in human movement and sports science which I will not be able to work on over htere....will primarilly be taking elective type stuff). SO we will see what happens. I think I am liking the sound of taking a Semester off before I do my grad to go to Fl and ride bc I don't know that I could handle going a whole semester without riding (Ireland), I can barely go a week without ripping my hair out!! We will see what happens.

I also decided that I have an awful diet. I basically eat just soup and granola bars and drink either milk or Powerade. Of course, this week, I am drinking a lot of coffee as well. That also means extra trips to the bathroom....like right now!! haha...back to work!

Just went to see my horsie. No, couldn't ride, it's *still* pouring down here, the barn is a mess, but I cleaned off her feetsies and put some gunk on them.

The cold, rainy, dark weather makes me want to SLEEP, not study, so I'm downing some soup (for warmth) and a Mountain Dew Code Red. Heeeeeee heeeeee.

Today I had 2 of my 3 finals....they both went very well. (smiles) Yesterday I got back the big, pivotal paper in my senior level history class (I'm a sophomore) and I thought it was going to stink....turns out I got 100%!!!!!!! /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I was shocked and thrilled. Also got back the research paper in my senior level history class, thought it stunk, got one of the 2 A's in the class. /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif (Seeing a trend here?!) Sooooooo, overall, everything has been going well. Tomorrow I'll turn in my final essay for my english class, an assignment that, thanks to my research paper (35% of my grade for the written and 15% for the 30 min oral) I had to basically put my name on and turn in a blank sheet of paper to keep my A. Whoo-hoo!

BUT.......................

Tomorrow is my marine bio exam! /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif This class was supposed to be fun and even easy, but it's anything but.....grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!! I'm dreading that test, mainly because the prof gave us no clue as to what we should study.....he just told us that there will be 60 questions taken from 9 chapters, and good luck. Barf! I only need a 33 out of 60 to keep my A, but the average score on the first exam was 25. /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif I got a 42 by the skin of my teeth.....GULP! *crossing fingers* wish me luck !

Oh my God. I am so tired. I cannot drink another cup of coffee, because I have been up for the last two nights with horrible stomach cramps that I'm assuming are the evil result of too much coffee. Ick.

Anyway! Today was my big music presentation, which went really well, against all odds. Directly afterwards I had my art history exam, which I was really unprepared for, but I pulled a bunch of decent essays out of my... SOMEWHERE and I think I did okay. Now I'm writing a paper and it's almost done. Phew. Still lots to do before I'm done with all this crap, but I have a little break after tomorrow.

Tomorrow is my last day of classes EVER!!! I'm very excited, although I'm tempted not to go at all. Big sigh. Hope you all are hanging in there. Drink lots of water, get someone to rub your neck, and eat something energy-filled! I'm sending good karma your way...

You'd think two Mountain Dews would be enough for someone who doesn't "do" caffine.

No, alas, they're not. I'm still draggin' around. I fell asleep after I got home from the barn and have been in the library for four hours. Not really sure how, but hot rugby guy that I went out with last night found me... it was a nice distraction.

Anybody have any ideas on how to actually RETAIN the knowledge from the books you read?

Oh, and get this... my final tomorrow is over a book that was unavailable to buy at the bookstore... as in, they didn't have it. The prof never mentioned it so the bookstore sold them back to the company, so basically our entire class is screwed. (And yes, there was a huge congregation of us in the library.) I can get anywhere from like a 95 - 50 on the test and still be stuck in a B (which I hate getting) so I haven't even really worried about that one yet... stupid stupid stupid class.

Let's see...last week I got a virus on my computer that ate Word. I had an Equine Disease & Injury fnal to type, as well as three rather lenthy papers. Neat huh?

Next I got a cold. Oh, and over the weekend we hosted a double (that's both days folks!) IHSA hunt seat show, during which I had to be at the barm from 5:30AM to after 8PM both days. Neat huh?

This week is finals week. Fortunately I was exempt from a few, and the others have been easy so far. I have one left for today, and one for tomorrow. Then I'm DONE hooray!

Unfortunately, I may end up getting an incomplete for my riding lesson since I couldn't ride the past 3 weeks. /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif Now I'm getting nervous, since they're thinking my tendonitis isn't tendonitis at all, but rheumatoid arthritis which goes along with the Raynauds disease I have... /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Had my first final this morning, managed to oversleep (easy when you were up until 4 am studying-I had to go the mall first!!). Still got to the final on time, just without extra studying, which as it turned out I didn't need for the 15 minute final. My worst are yet to come, though. . .Latin, a cumulative theory final, etc. Sleep is not in the forecast. The clouds are finally clearing. My last final was tonight -- yeah!. I was totally freaking out - 25 chapters. Then I figured out that his chapter reviews were pretty intese so I pasted & copied them as my 2 pages of notes per chapter. Best part was the test followed his review to the tee. Can we say A+.

And the pony is getting his knees lubbed up tomorrow so he will be perfect for X-mas break. Now if I could only convince my boss (dad) that a new saddle would be a great Christmas bonus I would be in complete heaven.

We did our Biology presentation today. I hate public speaking, so before we went up, I was running through courses my evil trainer made me jump in my last lesson (weeks ago). It would have been nice if it helped, but I got worked up over getting the perfect spot in my mind that I was stressed before I even spoke /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif Oops. It is now 2:00 am. My English paper is done, and the printer is out of ink. Nobody seems to want to sell me an ink cartridge at this time of night.

Tomorrow, nothing, saturday, astronomy final.

I passd my Discrete Mathematics final, barely, but did it. That was one awful course. I also got another assignment back from the english-class-that-should-have-been-above-my-head and once again did really well.

The light is shining at the end of the tunnel..... I'm almost at the end. WOHOO!!

AND, to boot, I was talking to mom, and she said that I got something from the Canadian ARab place (aka Canadian Half-Arab Registry) and she thought it was Chance's registration papers (now in MY name!!), but then she got them TODAY from the Arab society... which I actually think is the International Arabian Horse Association papers.... Which would be awesome as that would mean I've BOTH sets of his papers, waiting for me, at home. 3 more sleeps and I get to see my horsie... woohoo!!

Ma chere tuition-payers, it is with deepest sadism and greatest power that
we welcome you this morning. And now, we
require you to get tense, let us pull up a chair, as the faculty proudly
presents - your final!

P: Take your test
Take your test
Are you nervous?
Are you stressed?
Winter's just around the corner now
We love this time the best
Physics laws
English lit.
Why, you'll never want to quit
What's the formula for vinyl?
Don't you love to take a final!
Classic film
Modern dance
All the kings and queens of France
You'll be writing with such energy and zest
Go on and take some blue books
You'll at least need two books
Take your test
Fake your test
Take your test
World War I
World War II
You'll be chugging Mountain Dew
As you scram back home to cram
And stay awake the whole night through
If you're here
And you're scared
Then you're prob'ly unprepared
Don't tell me about your party
You should study, Mr. Smarty
Distant stars
Shakespeare's plays
Let us run you through our maze

S1: Did you ever get the feeling we're oppressed?

P: Don't question our regime
How could you dare blaspheme?
Now take your test
(You've B.S.ed,
But you'd rather say you've "guessed")
Take your test
Take your test
Take your test
Life's all smiles and smirking
For a student who's not working
It's a gas without a class to load him down
Ah, those good old days way back in grade school
Suddenly he wants his cap and gown
While he's been busy learning
Curiosity's been burning
What's it like to have a minute to himself?
He won't know 'til after graduation
They came here so lazy
Now we're driving them all crazy!

S1: It's a test!

S2: It's a test

S3: This can't be!
I still need rest!

P: You want sleep, you little creep?
That's very good. That's quite a jest
Ancient worlds
Complex math
And we won't withhold our wrath
Yes, we'll give you quite a beating
If we catch you while you're cheating
Chinese art
Civil E.
Anesthesiology

S3: Help me please! I'm having cardiac arrest!

S1: Somebody check his heart!

P: Then label every part!
It's on your test

S: That's our test?

P: That's your test

S: What a pest!

TA: Here's a test
There's a test
I'm so very much depressed
Have to grade each one of these in just a day
And I'm hard-pressed!
Biochem
Japanese
Why our "quarters" come in threes
While the deadline still is looming
I'll keep grading, I'll keep fuming

P: Course by course
One by one
'Til you shout, "This isn't fun!"
Then we'll laugh at every place that you digressed
We've done our best to pester
See you next semester!
Take your test
Take your test
Take your test
Now, take your test

Oooh ooooh ooooh finally a clique I can be part of. I have two, count em, two more finals left. One tomorow and then one next Tue. Then I'm done until after new years. Then I have to take a winter session class because I'm a wee bit behind. Oops oh well. I have been able to ride almost everyday but I can't say I've been studying as much as I should. I totally bombed on the last of my 4 essays that I had to write for my English Renaissance final today. My hand went numb from all the writing and my essay ended up only being a paragraph. /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Well GOOD LUCK everyone who still has finals left. Hang in there.

My Lit exam was NOT GOOD. It was 3 hours, starting at 8. I don't DO 8 am classes! My hand went numb around page 7 or so (I have tiny handwriting and the papers were huge.. ouch!) and my last four quote IDs were guesses at best. Top that off with a C+ on a paper I was sure I nailed, and you get a very Disappointed Delighted moping around campus.

I only have one more final! Whoo! Shakespeare, tomorrow at 2. I am NOT inspired to study, or work on the 2 papers due at the same time. I'm too psyched - my fav band is going to be playing live on TV tomorrow, so I'll be bouncing around for that all day. Hey, that's why they invented Sparknotes!

It's freaking 12:15 here. I spent all night watching TV and catching up with one of my friends. I just started studying.

You know what's a real ego booster? Having the guy you like call and make fun of how "easy" your major is. Yeah, ok. He should try to be creative on demand. /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

3 down 2 to go. I really hate school. I have decided to just stay up all night rather than have to wake up for my Geography at 7:30. Then I am hitting the bed and waking up to study for another 7:30 exam. I am thinking just staying up all tomorrow night too. I am definately not a morning person since waking up for 12:30 was difficult.

5 hours and 45 minuntes left til exam time.

One more exam....I think I can, I think I can, I think I can. Once it's over and I get my stuff packed (typical...it's pooring rain here), I can go HOME!

All I have to do is remember everything important that took place in 1800 years of England's history and I'll be fine. My prof has this way of stuffing our brains full of bizarre, trivial little facts (mainly about the sexual orientation of each monarch, and of which STD some of them had....things you really need to know)...now there's no room for important stuff. ARG!

And now it's 6:30am...2 hours until my test. I was going to sleep longer, but I woke up in the middle of a terrible dream - I was on a cruise ship that was set fire by terrorists, and then some really huge castle-like building in Paris was intentionaly imploaded....yeah, I know that the two parts aren't really related, but we were watching CNN on the front lawn (?!?!) of the cruise ship to find out if our fire was out or not and we saw about the building. Why am I telling you this????

Good luck to everyone!!!!!

Ok, I took my chem exam yesterday and it was a department exam. Well, my not-so-great barely-english speaking teacher left us totally unprepared! I did fine on it but there were a lot of very long faces!

Then I felt very sick all day yesterday (had started the night before), so I slept pretty much all the way from 1 yesterday afternoon until 11am today. So now I need to get my booty moving and shower and start studying! And packing!! But I have no roommates so I can leave my stereo on all day long (it's calc, so music is fine for me to study to) and there will only be the usual people stopping by to distract me! YAY! This time tomorrow I will be getting in the car to go home! And I'll be home for a whopping 10 min (just enough for my dog to calm down somewhat after being separated from me for a month) and then it's off to the barn for the Christmas party! Of course, after not riding for a month I would be fine....but racing around and jumping bareback? I may be a bit sore! hahaha...I don't care!!

Jsut remember guys....When the load gets tough, the tough get loaded! /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I just got out of my last final, which I kicked squarely in the you-know-what.
Now it's time to pack my stuff and go HOME! And I don't have to come back here until the end of January. Soooooo Happppyyyy.

Good luck to the rest of you on your remaining tests! You can make it!!

I hate finals!!! whoever thought that having all these tests all at the same time is not one of my favorite people. Its great to know that there are so many other people that feel my pain! I have only gotten to ride my horse once in the past week and a half...i miss him! It seems like all that i do is study recently. anyways only one more left and then i am all done!!

heres a random question:
How many people here ride IHSA? and do you like it?
I do and think that it's really fun, i really like the whole team aspect of it all. /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I ride IHSA and I love it! I spent a lot of time catchiing rides as a junior, so the IHSA is fun for me!

I am more of a jumper girl myself. I did TONS of eq, but I love the jumpers. It was quite the adjustment for me to go from riding 4'+ jumpers all summer and then doin IHSA! I also love the team part! My teammates are great and we are the biggest bunch of idiots and rejects you will ever meet! At our last captains meeting, we were evaluating everything and they were asking what eachof the freshaman thought of the team, and I answered as follows,
"I like it because otherwise I wouldn't be bale to afford to ride at college, and it is nice to find a bunch of people as retarded as me!" /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I just finished my Shakespeare exam, which wasn't as bad as I thought so now I'm sure I failed it. All I want to do is crawl into my bed, watch The Calling on TRL, and sleep until classes start next semester. Of course, I woke up majorly sick this morning - unless I'm feeling great tomorrow morning, I'll start on week 3 for not riding. /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I'm done too!

I went in to take my last final (marketing promotions) and she told me I had to get a 7% on the final to make an A for the class. It's very hard to get enthused about a final when you know you can practially not take it and still do good.

Ever puke so hard that you thought your eyeballs would pop out, with your brain to soon follow? Yeah, me too. So I was up all niht last night (I've been havin stomach problems for a while now), and ot a total of 2 hours of sleep last niht before today's 8:30 exam. GREEEEEAT. Oh well, I think I did fine...at least well enouh to hopefully maintain my avg. Now I am just waiting for the bookstore to open so I can get rid of a few of these stupid books! Or maybe I won't do that today, haven't decided yet. So I am cleanin the fridge as well as the rest of this dump...just gettin ready to go home!! I can't wait til my mom gets here! Hopefully she will be here in an hour or so! Then I can go to the barn!! HAHAHAHA>...I am a mad woman! A mad woman who fears she has puked her brain out (literally).

Good luck to everyone on their finals!!!

I know that exams are over for alot of people but this is something that a friend sent me that we've found to be entertaining:
'Twas the night before exam week, and all through dorms, not a student was studying, this was usually the norm. Kegs in the kitchen, jello shots in the hall -- thanks to the liquor, it was a late night for all. Passed out all around, the kids all slept tight. When they woke up the next day, they thought, 'Man, whatta night!' 'We're too hung-over to study' they shouted with cheer. So to hell with exams, just bring on the beer!!' /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Hey all my fellow Disgruntled Students! I got home after my last exam and went straight to the barn for the anual Christmas party and bareback games! It was so great! As usual, I got the bucking bronc for pole-bending, but hey, it was great. While I was pukin my brains out and not sleeping last night I found my future husband on TV...he's a cowboy /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif . So my buckin bronc ride was fun and entertaining for the whole crowd, and then took the bareback highjump at a lowly 4'-4'3". Definitely a low year for that one! But it was fun, the first time I had ridden in over a month!

Happy days are here again! I am workin at the barn at 7:30am tomorrow /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif , and I am VERY happy about that! And I get to ride my fave horse int he whole wide world, and play with his baby who just moved into the barn! And clean a million stalls and do turnouts and haul buckets...I LIVE FOR THIS! Lol...I belong in a barn..

My exams aren't over until the 21st. It's okay though, gives me plenty of time to prepare. I'm glad all you guys are done. What a relief, eh? As for me, I've begun my first ebay bidding war today, instead of writing my final music paper. Smart, huh.
