Okay, to get the ball rolling... /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I am SO excited. I am seeing U2 at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, and I actually have good seats!!! (Which cost an arm and a leg, of course. /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif )

I saw them for the first time here in DC a couple of months ago, and it was truly an amazing show. Definitely in my top 5 concert experiences ever. And I've been to a lot of concerts.

Other shows I've seen this year: Depeche Mode, Ani DiFranco, Jimmy Eat World (uh, 3 times, I think? Yeah, I like them a lot /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif ), Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Pedro the Lion/Low, Rocket from the Crypt, Glen Phillips (formerly of Toad the Wet Sprocket), Brandston, and David Gray.

Of course, my all-time favorite band is the Cure... and they have a greatest hits CD coming out next month. Whoo-hoo! /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I've gotten to be such a concert stick-in-the-mud. I don't think I've been to a show since I got all grumpy over being kicked in the head at a Jesus Lizard show a while back. A sign of getting older, I guess.

Is Garbage opening for U2 at this show, Erin?

If so, prepare to be blown away. I have seen Garbage twice and Shirley Manson, to me, is incomparable!!! The first time I saw them was at Seville Quarter in Pensacola, Florida, in early 1996 - small club show, 200-300 people or so. I saw them later that year after I'd moved to Arkansas as the opening act for Smashing Pumpkins. I left at intermission as I'd really only wanted to see Garbage!

The new CD, Beautiful Garbage, is fantastic. I love your taste in music too. Very similar to mine. We saw Depeche Mode in Dallas this summer on my partner's b'day. It was the 4th time I'd seen them live. I've also seen The Cure and always thought it was neat that Darren Chiachhia evented a horse named "Fascination Street."

I've seen a plethora of concerts in my mere 21 years... The last one I saw was Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney. We all know about my Tim McGraw obsession -- at least Nickelodian does.

The most notable concert moment: I was at a Beach Boys concert with my mom and dad, sister and her friend, and my best friend (who had never been to a concert /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif ) and I got to go up on stage and sing with the BOYS themselves for "Surfin' USA." I really have a thing for oldies, especially when I was younger, and I was psyched to get to do that. /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Concert I'm afraid to admit I went to: Backstreet Boys /infopop/emoticons/icon_cool.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

KatyO, I have seen Ani twice... the first time was great. This last time... eh. It was almost all new stuff (and I am not a big a fan of the most recent cds) and she didn't even do an encore. I think she must have just had an off night, because everyone I've talked to has always loved her shows.

Robby, sadly, it's not Garbage at this show... I would love to see them. I think it's the Stereophonics (? - never heard of them). No Doubt is also opening some shows.

PJ Harvey opened when I saw them last. She kicks butt. /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Let Granny put her teef in, ahh there. Well, I saw U2 on one of their first US tours when they released the Boy album in 19and83. They played at UNC-Chapel Hill's spring festival. Todd Rundgren was the headliner. This was back in the day when Bono would still climb to the top of any available scaffolding and swing that big white flag around, which he did that day in the rain.

My all time favorite concert was Husker Du at the old Ritz in NYC, twas their last hurrah as they broke up shortly after. When they started playing, the old wooden dance floor began to undulate.

Oh, one more, Al Green stood at the end of the stage and sang "Let's stay Together" to my husband and me. Ahh, touched by greatness.

Robby - I couldn't agree with you more. A *fantastic* group (with Shirley, a wicked energetic Scotswoman lead singer) and a great complementary band to U2. While their contribution to cinema with the James Bond title track was forgetable everything else has been simply divine! If anyone doesn't have either of their first two CD's in their collection then they are simply missing out.

Saw Travis last week, and nearly wept with happiness! Their CD "The Invisible Band" is stunning. By all means, find it and listen to it if you have a love of Brit pop (of which the Stereophonics are an excellent example, by the way).
Jimmy Eat World's "Bleed American" is damn near perfect, too. i don't think JEW or Travis have been out of my CD changer since they came out.
Neither has Pete Yorn's cd... saw him a couple months ago, and he's heading back to town in a few weeks. Sadly, he's playing the same night as Spiritualized, so i'm torn as to who to see (i'm going to end up at both. i just know it!).
Saw The Strokes the other night. Heard of them? Very NY Dolls / Velvet Underground.
i saw PJ and U2 on this last leg of the tour, and was blown away by both. Surely one of the best live shows ever put together.
More in a bit (must go thru some work-type motions for now!).

Looking forward to seeing the Stereophonics... hopefully my friend (who went to the last U2 show with me and, sadly, likes Ricky Martin despite my best efforts at intervention) will like them better than PJ, who she described as "noisy and scary." /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Garbage is up there in my top ten fave's to see in concert. I've seen them 3 times, and SHIRLEY ROCKS!

Saw Moby this year and I gotta say
...Oh my friggen gawd that was awesome. Saw him at Area One with Nelly Furtado, Outkast, Incubus, The Roots and Paul Oakenfeld (Shhh...FW's the closet raver).

Just gave away tix to Jimmy's Chicken Shack and AfroMan...just wasnt diggin it.

Saw the Warped tour...Jimmy Eat world was there...along with many others. I swear I was the only person there without braces.

Has anybody heard the ColdPlay CD? They sound like my fave (Jeff Buckley) and wondered if the CD was any good?
Fave show of all time was Tori Amos, Foo Fighters and Beck at the 9:30 club (only 300 people).
It was unreal. You couldnt buy tickets, you had to win them...I bought mine off of Ebay for 200$ a piece. Best 200 Bucks I ever spent.

Just saw that you saw Pedro/Low... I'm not too fond of Pedro the Lion, but Low is fantastic. Good sleepytime/sad/rainy day music.

I'm mostly into indie rock, and some really bad, sappy pop punk music. I've seen ten million bands (at least) in the last year and I spend far too much money expanding my record collection, when I should be spending it on other luxuries like replacing my TS that are on their deathbed. Am I a horse person or a music nerd? I struggle to answer this on a daily basis. It's hard to be both. /infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Wowee, I had heard about Low for ages on a Cure list I'm on, and finally got "The Curtain Hits the Cast." Great CD of sad, rainy-day music. But 90 minutes of that live was a bit much. I don't have that much restraint. /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Erin, i can't get enough of Jimmy Eat World! i had to go back and actually buy (*gasp*!) their first couple cd's. Personally, i think they should have chosen "Middle" as the first single, but nobody asked me. ("Bleed American" simply isn't indicitive of the rest of the album, in my opinion). Happily, they're going with "Middle" now. (i am so succeptable to the power of suggestion, i'm listening to the CD now.)
Other grear recent cd's... Weezer, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Ben Folds, Granddaddy, Calexico, James... oh, i really could go on and on.
By the way, i did my very first event last weekend, and am totally addicted to it!

Wowee - wow, Bob's house, did Bob leave stuff?

Erin - listen to Husker Du's Candy Apple Gray if you like Sugar, great album.

Dullest Band in Concert goes to The Pixies. I saw them. I don't remember a thing about the concert except wanting to leave. And I blame it only on me, I bought the tickets.

One last, Coolest Old Geezerette goes to Patti Smith, Coolest Old Geezer, Iggy Pop.

I am a big Jimmy Eat World fan too... they rock /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I've been a big fan for a long long time.

joliemom - Hey I like the Pixies... I've never seen them in concert so I can't say how they are live. But they are an awesome band.

On Saturday I am going to this concert in New Orleans called VooDooFest. It's all day long and it has many different bands from practically ever genre of music...

hobson - Don Cab is great... but they get the award for the only band I have ever heckled at a show. It was all in jest, really... and it even made them laugh. I totally dig Unrest/Air Miami... I love a lot of Teen Beat/Mark Robinson stuff. Do you also like flin flon?

joliemom - Unfortunately, Bob occupied the house in the mid-80's... the ex moved in a year ago... and there were several owners in between. So, as far as we know, there was nothing passed on from Bob himself. We did joke during a major plumbing crisis that Bob was the one who thought it might be a good idea to hold the pipes under the kitchen sink together with CHEWING GUM!! /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Fairweather - I swa ColdPlay in concert and they were very good, even though they didn't really 'fit in' with the rest of the bill (it was at Boston's WBCN River Rave).

At that same show I saw Sevendust, Greenday (who I hadn't listened to since Jr High but were AWESOME!! Absolutely kick ass live), Live (who I have seen twice - if they ever come to your area GO! They are great), Everlast (who played 'Jump Around' /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif, and to top it all of ended with Black Crowes and Aerosmith!

The unlitmate concert experience. I never thought I would get into some of the bands with the rowdier shows but now I enjoy shoving my way to the front- since I sm small I can duck under a lot of the sweaty drunk guys /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif )

If its your style Staind (another band I never thought I would like, but Aaron Lewis is just incredible) is incredible live, as long as Aaron is in a good mood (he isn't very talkative on stage though).

Bonnie Raite is the most fun to see live - she is so funny! And Lauryn Hill is just beyond words, an incredible performer.

Stuck in a car for endless hours last week, got to revisit all of my fave CD's and must say, most still hold up after a decade...or two. God, I'm old. A fact confirmed by my daughter who'd pipe from the back seat, "can you please play something from the decade I was born?"

"This is the Sea" by the Waterboys, "Bang" by World Party remain among my favourites. Cocteau Twins are still ethereally wonderful. More recent favourites include Radiohead, Jill Scott, and the new Perry Farrell. Perennial favourites, all of whom are absolutely awesome in concert, include U2, Pearl Jam, and The Tragically Hip.

Erin, I've seen some very good new, up and coming bands this year, one of which you must check out called the White Stripes. FWIW, also have seen so far this year Spacehog, The Donnas, Steven Malkmus, Steve Earle, Dwight Yoakam, The Roots, Coolio, Beausoleis, Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, plus the Emerson Quartet, the Julliard Trio, and lots of local stuff. Was going to see Ike Turner, but he was thrown in the slammer the week before. You could say I get around musically /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Fiero - that's what made the Pixie's concert so disappointing, they were better recorded than live /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif On stage, they might as well have been the Corpses, not a very lively group.

Who was going to New Orleans for a music festival? Color me jealous, we used to do Jazz Fest bc, as in "before children." Saw so many great bands there, but the best was the Gospel tent, one great gospel group followed by another. Made the hair stand up on my neck.

Heidi - girl, we are so old. I heard the Talking Heads singing Slippery People this a.m., briefly I felt 23, single, and attractive.

Anybody heard of Desmond Dekker and the Aces? My new favoritest reggae group ever, ever, ever. They did "Me Israelites." Think Drugstore Cowboy.

Well, I am feeling, uh, middle aged! LOL!

However, JONI MITCHELL is one of the best I have ever seen in concert!

JOAN BAEZ - who tends to only have a small band - is also INCREDIBLE. (When I saw her with the Rolling Thunder Review, she outshined ALL of the guys, including Dylan.)

Saw CROSBY STILLS AND NASH last summer - almost as good as when I saw them 30 years ago - no, actually they were better (or maybe my memory of this concert is better... /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif)

I tend to see a lot of solo singer/songwriter types in small venues - always enjoyable.

FW, run, do not walk, to Tower and buy Jimmy Eat World's "Bleed American." I think it's even cheapie-priced too! Or it was when it came out. Ten bucks. After you buy that one, you'll want "Clarity" and "Static Prevails" too.

I love the Replacements! I have a bootleg of the concert in Chicago in the early '90s (I think?) where they pretty much broke up on stage. /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

DMJ, only if you will promise to go buy a real copy if you like it. Don't want to be taking money out of the pockets of these nice Arizona boys. /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Coincidentally, JEW recorded this album themselves, and nearly went broke doing it. After its completion, it became the subject of a bidding war among several labels, including Capitol, who put out Clarity and Static Prevails and failed MISERABLY in promoting this wonderful band, which is why they opted out of their contract. Ha ha! Take that, record company doofuses! (Doofi?) No offense Specks! /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

However both Weatherford and Wings mentioned two I knew - Crosby, Stills & Nash, and Elton John. So 2 points in my favour /infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

I guess I have really odd tastes, aside from being stuck in the 80's. Currently my favourite CDs are "Maroon" by the BareNakedLadies, "Faith" by Faith Hill and my old favourites by Great Big Sea and Spirit of the West.

I mean, I'd love to see them now, but it's so much more fun in small venues and the early 80s was when I was pretty mad about them...now I'm old and ricketyand I don't like being in a large mob being pushed around.
I'm also VERY disappointed that the Pixies didn't put on a good show, but I've heard that before, so it's better that I never got a chance to see them and they can remain in my mind the greatest rock 'n roll band of all times.
LOW fans, what a surprise! I've seen them, though I like listening to their CD's more than watching them. Cocteau Twins??? Now there's a blast from the pastlove 'em! And I am also a big Radiohead fan. Past favorite shows have been Throwing Muses (great show) Soul Coughing (3 times) Midnight Oil (back in the 80's) but actually the most awesome concert I've been to most recently was the Romero's, which is classical guitar (and flamenco) and it was simply amazing. I've also seen Moby (I'm another closet raver) at one of those Armory parties, as well as Boy George (now he's a DJ and I wasn't impressed) and Dub Tribe (man, we couldn't sit down) and my personal fave-> LTJ Bookum. My favorite local band is supposed to be the Allmighty Senators, seeing as my baby brother is the bass player, but secretly, my very favorite local band is Lake Trout. I saw them at the 13th Floor in Balto. And they blew me away.

Awesome concert, with just the one slight problem that hubby and I appeared to be the only members of the audience not smoking pot through the whole thing /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I will also admit to having enjoyed seeing Frankie Goes to Hollywood. The last big concert we went to was Journey and REO Speedwagon, and there is even a horsey connection here. We got the tickets from the physiotherapist who was working on my broken collar bone at the time - the result of a fall from Fernando, of course! REO were officially the opening act, but actually put on a far better show than Journey /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Other good live groups - U2 and the Rolling Stones.

Betsy, I saw Soul Coughing at the HFStival a few years ago! Wow, did they blow me away. Their CD (whose name escapes me, but it's the one before El Oso... with "Super Bon Bon" on it) was in my stereo for months on end. Ruby Vroom was good too.

Radio sucks these days. Even HFS sucks. There was a great article in Rolling Stone about the sad state of radio a month or two ago.

Jair, Jair, Jair... what are we going to do with you! /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

i nearly spit coffee out of my nose (and, for the record, we refer to them as "record company schmucks"). In defense of the "industry" (did i just say that?!?), there are still some of us to whom the music matters, not the profit margin.
That being said, it is a cool job, but like anything else, it has it's moments. There's plenty of perks to make you forget the crap, but there's always going to be injustice.
And, speaking of Spacehog, they will always be great because they covered an XTC song on "A Testimonial Dinner", XTC's tribute album. Who'd have thought??

we lived in Minneapolis and we even got to meet the band when they played at the 9:30 club a while back. Ever see the episode of Homicide when they busted into some den of ill repute and blasted "Step aside let the man come through...let the man come through"....I miss that show.
FW- I knew you would like G-Love....we got to see them in Mpls too. You know MPLS is a big music town. We saw a lot of bands there.

bgoosewood, I think you've been initiated as an old fart.

I too saw Midnight Oil a few times in the '80's - they were bloody wonderful. Never thought a giant could dance so frenetically.

I've been to many fabulous concerts but a few notably bad ones come to mind: Flock of Seagulls (hey, it was the '80's!), David Sylvian and Robert Fripp (way too airy-fairy esoteric for me), Gypsy Kings and New Order (snore!).

Radio, blech. I listen to WNCW (http://www.wncw.org) while at work. They play a little bit of everything, right now they're playing some Merle Haggard, but next song could be Joe Strummer, the 5 Blind Boys of Alabama, or Kate Bush. Just whatever the DJ feels like playing.

Oh, if you see a band called North Mississippi All Stars (http://www.nmsallstars.com/) coming to your area, make sure to see them. Awesome.

The concerts I've been to? Raffi, New Kids on the Block, and Toby Keith/Brooks and Dunn.

Toby Keith was far and away the best. Glad there are a few other country fans here!

Closet Raver, FW? ROFL! I've been to quite a few raves in my day too. And since my partner is a former club dj (Tracks, DC), we're always up on good dance music.

All Garbage CD's rock. Hard. I will never forget them opening the second show I saw with "Queer" and how Shirley was just sort of standing there when it started. She is everything, AFAIC!

My favorite Garbage singles are:

Supervixen
Vow
Not My Idea
My Lover's Box
Special
You Look So Fine (especially the dance remixes ... "you look so fine, I'd like to break your heart, and give you mine ..."
And my favorite track on the new CD is Cherry Lips (Go Baby Go). Although the new CD (Beautiful Garbage) is just incredible and I keep playing it over and over.

I will try to do my Concert Chronology (though it may be fuzzy, and you'll laugh at a few of my Child of the Late 80's shows):

1982 - Journey, with Bryan Adams opening
1985-89 - Cheap Trick, Bon Jovi with Cinderella, Motley Crue with Guns N Roses
1990 - All of those Club MTV tours and the plethora of Where Are They Nows that were featured
1991 - Depeche Mode, "Violator" tour
1992 - Lollopalooza, New Orleans (Pearl Jam and Red Hot Chili Peppers and many other groups, including Alice in Chains)
1992 - The Cure, New Orleans
1993 - Lollopalooza, New Orleans (maybe this was the year Alice in Chains was there; loved Arrested Development and Front 242)
1993 - Depeche Mode, Devotional Tour, Atlanta
1994 - Sting/Melissa Etheridge
1994 - Depeche Mode, Devotional Tour, Biloxi, Mississippi
1995 - Zephyrfest, New Orleans, featuring bands that aren't around anymore (very alternative)
1995 - Alanis Morrisette at the Howlin' Wolf in New Orleans (I stood right beside Marilyn Manson and Twiggy Ramirez in the crowd ... it rocked!)
1996 - Garbage, Pensacola, Florida
1996 - Garbage (opening for Smashing Pumpkins)
1996 - Tori Amos, Boys For Pele tour
2001 - Depeche Mode, Dallas, Exciter Tour

I'm sure I've missed many but these are the ones I easily recollect.

Front 242!!...Yeah Boyeee, back in the late 80's it was all that....Nitzer Ebb, Revolting Cocks, and then some Public Enemy thrown in for some balance.

Greenday
Weezer (!!!)
Staind
Disturbed
Drowning Pool
Adema
Cold
Get Up Kids (twice, and I don't even like them that much)
Ozma
Kissinger
Stereomud
Weezer was my favorite concert, but that was probably b/c my older brothers roommate went with us, and he had some "connections". basically, we went VIP, and it was great. Greenday did an awesome show as well, and Disturbed was not long after the 9-11 thing, so it was all pro USA. great stuff

Other favorite punkers: the Damned, Pop Rivets, Wire, Gang of Four (who also win Best Marxist-Feminist yet all male band)

We did go there when we went back to visit in April, right after Cherry Blossom. It was a fun club! Though the back room at Zigfield's was much more raunchy in a very Madonna Sex book sort of way!

I also went to see Nine Inch Nails in Pensacola in 1995 and a horrible storm actually knocked out electricity downtown. I'd sat through these two horrible opening acts and didn't even get to see NIN!

The Malkmus solo album is great. I happen to really enjoy it, but then again, anybody with relation to pavement could poo on a paper plate, call it a record, and I would still buy it. I think if you're a fan of Pavement, it's definitely worth having.

Scott Kannberg (Spiral Stairs) also has a solo project called the Preston School of Industry. The songs are very similar to "his" Pavement songs. I'll be seeing them (and S.M.!) in a couple of weeks. Exciting stuff.

I've not been to many concerts in my life, mostly because I am either showing or would rather spend the money on a present for Cosmo. Typical horsie mom. Anyway, I've seen Peter, Paul, and Mary with my dad when I was really little. It was fun. More recently though, I saw Dave Matthews Band twice, Blessid Union of Souls, The Samples, um, I guess that's it.
Now don't go flaming me cause I'm just not really a fan, but Ani Difranco played a free show at my school on Tuesday but I didn't go. I heard it was amazing. I would have gone just to go had I not had a paper to write.

Erin, I'm so glad you've discovered the beauty of Low! They put on one of the best shows I've seen this year. You must hear the collaboration they did with the Dirty 3! Five great ones this past year:

1) Magnetic Fields, my all-time favorite band ever. But even better than that is Merritt's first album as the 6ths.

2) The Lucksmiths -- absolutely charming.

3) Silver Scooter

4) Low

5) Trembling Blue Stars

reserve goes to Calvin Johnson and the lastest of the K records line-up. It was more fringe theatre than music, but a good time nonetheless.

hobson, I've been listening to Operation Heavenly all day at work! can't wait to pick up the Heavenly vs Satan re-issue (I bet you have the original on vinyl, no?). Unrest played a dance (!) at my high-school. Mark's a hottie.

Some of the best "big-name" concerts I've been to:
Lou Reed
Love & Rockets
Billy Bragg
Cramps (I was in the second row, and whatsisname stripped entirely naked, stuck some woman's undies on his head and stayed that way for the next half-hour /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif )
Gang of Four (in 1991, when all their fans from the 70's were investment bankers wearing red polo shirts and white tennies)
The Fall, while Mark E Smith was still functional (one of the worst/most surreal concerts I've seen was when he had a sort of breakdown in the first 20 minutes, and his band mates started beating him up)
Jesus Lizard, except I'm getting tired of the stupid mosh scene
Sonic Youth
Yo La Tengo
Fugazi
Half Japanese

Really, though, sometimes the best shows are the ones with really talented, enthusiastic but totally obscure bands in cruddy little hole-in-the-wall bars.

One of the best concerts I ever went to was Springsteen - Darkness on the Edge of Town Tour 1977? saw him again this spring - did I feel old - I thought I had got the night wrong and that I was on my way to a hockey game or something - all these middleaged people.....

The Doors
Jefferson Airplane (is that the Candlestick park concert referred to a few pages ago?)

Fred you aren't alone, I saw Jefferson Airplane in concert, in a small hockey arena in the North Country of New York State. The concert was lousy, they were all stoned out of their minds.

Also saw, in those good old days The Fifth Dimension and The Mamas and the Papas. But, my favorite concert from those days was by an unknown and totally forgotten group called The Blues Project. I bought their record (remember those?) and I played it until my record player gave up the ghost about 10 years ago.

I gave up rock very early in the 70's. After Joplin and Hendriks died, the soul went out of it.

good job Fred. I have been told that was thier last. My mother snuck in, was caught by security, cried and begged, and was allowed to stay and watch the concert. I'm so proud of her.

in Jamaica! (that was scarey - there was a huge crowd, far too many for the ricketty stadium, and they had police with dogs and billy clubs for riot control) and the air was absolutely ...redolent....

All I have to say is You saw Pedro The lion. You lucky.... Also, Dave Matthews Band, and everyone else. I've heard only a few songs by Pedro, but the first one I heard "when they really get to know you, they will run" has gotten me hooked.

I'm stoked, I ordered the new (International) Noise Conspiracy cd and it was hsipped tommorow; any day now!

Erin - JEW and Weezer and Tenacious D are playing America West Arena in November. How scary is that? Ive seen weezer before, but I remember seeing JEW at the Rialto in Tucson when I was 14...

ok, I'm mostly into punk but the boyfriend likes indie/emo more so I've been forced to mellow lately. But we're dumping him next week and have been celebrating with much propagandhi and bad religion /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Since School Started (8/20) I've seen:
Saves the Day
No Motiv (twice)
Hey Mercedes
Dashboard Confessional
Reggie & The Full Effect
Grade
Pedro the Lion
Modest Mouse
Murder City Devils
Fairweather
Fairview
River City High
The Impossibles
Longfellow
Against All Authority
Misfits
Dropkick Murphys (last night brah!)

Juliana Theory in 3 weeks!
And probably other stuff. As you can tell since I'm not riding these days (well I restarted, check the pictures! thread) I go to shows a lot /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I've been listening to (on top of the serious punk) a lot of recess theory and (international) noise conspiracy this week.

Weatherford, there is only one word for that:
NIRVANA!! (and I don't mean the group. /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif )

You and I must be musical soulmates!

Laura, I almost got moshed to death at the Jimmy Eat World show here in DC. (This is one of the bad things about them getting played on the radio around here. /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif ) And to think, I used to see them at Boston's where everyone (all 50 of us) would politely stand 10 feet back from the stage and just head-bob along. /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Crave2event, that's my favorite PTL song. I had listened to the CD a few times while doing other things, and hadn't noticed the lyrics... when I started to listen to the lyrics of that song, I just started cracking up. /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

They played here in DC in September, but I wasn't able to go. /infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Well, I just wanted to thank whoever it was who suggested Garbage. I love love love love this band -- and this is only after listening to 1/2 of the disc! It's hard for me to find out about bands because there's no decent radio to be found around here. There's a lot of classic rock stations -- ick! -- sorry, but a lot of that stuff has been around since I was in jr. high. And that was ages ago.

Thanks again! /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Erin, IM(not so)HO, U2 is probably one of the greatest live bands out there (surprisingly enough, Live is not /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif ). I saw them for the Zoo TV tour.

The Cure was not that great live, but I confess I am not a huge Cure fan. But I am a HUGE (and I do mean huge) REM fan, and I wasn't that impressed with their live performances, so I think I can be unbiased on this subject. /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

All time best concert I ever went to was David Byrne at the Cameo on South Beach. Truly awesome performance, but then Byrne has always been known for his live work.

But it is Elghund2 that I am MOST jealous of... Cowboy Junkies at Wolf Trap?!?!?!?!?! Sigh... that must have been quite special. I trust they did Sweet Jane?
