I have a four year old who is backed and ready for further training. He is very nice and also quiet. I would eventually like to ride him myself (an adult amateur). I would like to find a trainer who will work with me, who is patient and experienced with young horses. I live in central Illinois, but not too farm from Northern Illinois and the lower part of Wisconsin. Please tell me about your great experiences and thank you in advance.

If you're up to the drive, a man outside of Iowa City, Ia does a wonderful job. His name is Bill Coester, he has a gold medal, and trains some lovely horses. And he's a nice guy. It's a bit far, but it's worth it.

Wyngate Equestrian in Walworth WI (south central WI, about 20 min north of Woodstock IL) offers young horse training. One of the women there used to start youngsters for JJ Tate. It's a great facility and offers wonderful care (I keep my retired horse there). They emphasize correct work and get the youngsters started out of the arenas, too, on the on-farm trails.
