Hi,

Those of you who ride in Hennig saddles, can you ball park the cost of a new monoflap hennig with exposed blocks, typical customizations but not hog-wild?

Most price lists say something like "start at" which is why I ask...

Those of you who have bought new, any regrets? Things you wish you'd asked for in your customizations? Things you wish you hadn't asked for?

I would plan 6K to 7K and up to one year to get the saddle from Germany. I went down this road a few years ago.

Would you do it again? did you have to pay the full amount at the time of order?

It was a lovely saddle- but no I would not do it again. To try to get a custom made saddle "remote" with no live/in person measurements and fittings was hard to impossible. Hennig is a great saddle maker - but I would get an "off the rack" one if I did it again. For me - if I am going that much $$, I want my horse measured and fitted in person and followups done.

Yes - i had to pay up front.

We have a local dealer here, and I've found a model that is CLOSE on fine used saddles, but I was hesitant to buy used for reasons of fit. It sounds like the wait and the long distance fit might make a used just as likely to fit as a new one!

Just as an additional option, the Black Country Venici is GORGEOUS, can be fitted by someone who actually will meet your horse, will take much less time to arrive, and is half the price.

They are 3.700€ at the moment. They take FOREVER to be made; I had a friend have her and her horse measured and it took 9 or 10 months I think and then they weren't so easy about scheduling the time to deliver it and check the fit. I think Hennig himself finally came.

*If* you are patient and really shop around (ebay.de) you can maybe find a good used one. I have a really, really old one that the Hennig guy said was maybe the first ever Hennig actual mono-flap that just happened to be made for a short person so it fits me :D I'll be shopping for horses in the future that fit this saddle...!

My dream saddle is now on dressagestar.com -- hennig, brown, monoflap -- but it's in Denmark :-(
