View Full Version : COTH caps!

Erin
Apr. 26, 2001, 08:17 AM
Gofer has informed me that the much-anticipated Chronicle caps should be arriving in Middleburg today! We have a first batch of about 150, so we're letting the BBers have first crack at them.

Since Melinda's off at Rolex, I'll work on getting an online ordering form set up tonight. We don't have photos of the two different caps available yet... although I think they might try to take some with the digital camera at Rolex.

If you want to see what the caps look like before ordering, wait a few days and we'll try to put photos up. If you don't mind buying sight-unseen, you should be able to order this week.

When I get the online ordering set up (assuming I remember how! /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif ) I'll post here and let everyone know.

SGray, there will be more shipments coming... this is just the first one. They have to be embroidered with the logo and all that, and I guess that takes a while.

I think the Chron folks tried to rush this first small shipment so they could have some caps for Rolex as well. That's why I'm only going to post about it here, and not put a notice up on the Chronicle website just yet.

No cap hoarding please! There will be plenty to go around, eventually. /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Seriously, Erin, you should reserve the first 2 for us. And great job getting these caps done so quickly. It's been less than a month since my original post!

Erin
Apr. 26, 2001, 10:01 AM
I think this was the final decision on colors:

A) A stonewashed hunter green hat with a tan suede bill for those who enjoy a two-tone look.

B) A solid-colored khaki hat of cotton twill, for those who want a traditional, cooler summer hat.

I'll doublecheck with Gofer. And remember, we will have photos available sometime soon. If you're not sure which one you want, just wait a few days til we have the photos up, and you'll be able to see how they turned out.

Okay... we think the hats will be $15 apiece (US$), postage included. With half the Chronicle office in Kentucky, it's hard to come up with a definitive answer on this. /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

We will probably have to charge a few extra bucks for postage to Canada or overseas, but we're not sure about that yet. I'll let y'all know when an official decision is made about that.

All I can say is that if anyone gives that man a speedo, I will be forced to raise interest rates high enough to cover him...

In truth, when considering the fluctuations of an Adam Smith marketplace, and the failure of Keynesian economics, not to mention the diminishing return on political intelligence so rampant in our leadership in these times of modern dementia, the only real hope of stopping me from continuing on in the quest of producing the longest, most incomprehensible, run on sentence to be issued since William Jefferson Clinton gave his acceptance speech, would be to honor Heidi and DMK with a hat to commemorate their brief, yet surprisingly lucid take on all matters relevent to the populace at large. On the bright side, though, Ted, Dubya hasn't sworn off women, and you haven't sworn off drink, so I guess the party's still on.

Ted's speedo is, shall we say, capacious, because it's monogrammed with the names of all his previous conquests. His continued success in romantic pursuits has necessitated a gain of at least 10 pounds a year.

So if Pas Petite Details wants to look me up, she'll have to come down to the terrier site. My dogs will be there both days; however, I will arrive in the BigBlueVan late Saturday (with MORE dogs) and stay till Sunday early afternoon.

There won't be enough to go around since we all want one of each.

I really need mine for next weekend so Jreventer and I can find each other at Brookhill.

To be fair, we should all just order one today, then get another one later.

Wouldn't that be nice? /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Yes Firstcry, that would be VERY nice! /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Please please please just order one hat, if you order today. There will be more coming in the next few weeks, and there's no shipping charge in the U.S., so it won't cost you any more to place two separate orders.

Hmm. If I'd thought of this last night, I would have set the form up to only allow one hat per person! But... I will just have to TRUST that all of you will be nice and fair to your fellow BBers! /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I'll start a new thread with the URL for the form when it's ready. The link will only be posted here on the BB, not on the Chronicle's main site, since we only have this limited number of hats for the first batch.

Heh heh... this is kind of fun. Wonder how long I could string you people along... /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Just kidding... I'll get the form up soon.

Just how effective is Compound Dubya at removing unsightly lumps?

Perhaps the Democratic National Committee would be interested in funding a study.

Not with my budget you won't!

I do, however, have the names of a few helpful foreign folks that would be delighted to contribute to what appears to be a worthy cause /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

It would appear that the partying has already started down at ol' Compound Dubya (love the name, btw ... about the cleverest thing you've ever come up with! /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif ):

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- President Bush's 19-year-old daughter, Jenna, was cited early Friday for alcohol possession by a minor, police said.

The ticket was issued by Austin police who were checking for minors in possession of alcohol at nightclubs along the city's popular East Sixth Street.

Methinks you need to forget about the COTH hats and head on home to Texas and take care of some family matters!

Mr. Wings and I wore our beautifully monogramed COTH caps to Frying Pan on Sunday. Winglet still complains that I sent caps to Heidi and Jair and left him with none of his own. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I wear my COTH Shirts all the time. But I am due to replace them, they do snag easily....so I have retired two of them thus far.
When are we getting new shirts and caps?
