I know people have asked this before but who all here is from NJ?
I live in Camden County, ride at a little farm in Burlington County (Shamong) and attended school at Drew University (in Madison) and while I'm there I ride at Briarwood Farms in Readington.

Yup I have a vague idea of where you are.....
My trainer has alot of clients in Gloucestor County - near Sewell or something I think. Having been in North NJ for a few months I'm oddly disoriented down here now - but I love Southern NJ best!
What 4-H did you do? I'm assuming you've shown at the Gloucestor County Fairgrounds (my horse HATES it there). I have some friends I ride with from the West Deptford/Deptford area who all used to do the 4-H stuff. Also know some Camden County 4-H'ers.

What exactly are the Sixers? Basketball, football or?
Archeologists have found that in the ancient days when such games were played the losers were killed and the winners were sacrificed to the gods.
What is it about society that wants to take their strongest and biggest and beat them to pulp?
The Philadelphia 76ers are a basketball team. IMO, the only one! /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif Last year they made it all the way to the finals against the LA Lakers. They lost, but did end the Lakers winning streak. The team is lead by last year's (and probably this year's) NBA MVP, Allen Iverson. He's amazing to watch at only 6', he's the heart of the team. Larry Brown (2001 NBA Coach of the Year) is their coach, he's great too. Before the Sixers were one of the worst teams, but they've really turned it around. Other players include: Dikembe Mutumbo (7'1" center from Africa), Eric Snow, Aaron McKie, (my future husband!) Matt Harpring, Derrek Coleman, Raja Bell, Speedy Claxton, Samuel Dalmbert... I'm tired. /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Sarah, read an article on ESPN about the game last night. They lost, but it was ridiculous. The refs called nine techinicals by the third... Coleman was ejected (threw a punch /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I love his attitude!). Harpring pulled a techinical when he fouled out, but that was in the fourth. And Corie Blount was ejected. You don't eject *three* players (2 Sixers, 1 Jazz) in less than a minute! I think it was all planned. It was ridiculous, the refs need new jobs. /infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif
You were upset by the Georgetown/UCLA game?! I was so happy, UCLA is one of my teams in Fantasy College Hoops, so them winning boosted my ranking a lot! /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif But I do like G-town quite a bit. I struggled... my precious Princeton U lost to stinky Rutgers. /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

You CANNOT be Sixers fan and diss on my G'towm boys.
That's where Iverson and Mutumbo COME from.
Iverson did leave after his sophomore year but without Thompson (Gtown coach) he would have been NOTHING - he had been in jail for something and didn't play high school ball his senior year- and Thompson took him and gave him a chance. He used to get mocked horribly at games - at Villanova the fans would wear prison suits and do such stupid stuff that Thompson would refuse to let his team take the floor unless it all was stopped!
And Mutumbo was there back in the days of Alonzo Morning - I remember seeing him play.
(Yes I'm obsessed.....last year in Vietnam we had this teacher who loved sports and he was saying something and I was known for being the current events/IR/history person and I didn't play sports...anyway he said something about GU or the Sixers and I went off on this huge tangent and he was staring at me and goes you do sports trivia too...? LMAO.
To make this horse related - I quit basketball because (A) I'm too short and (B) I bought a horse.

...does that count for anything???
I lived in Hunterdon Cty (Tewskbury Twp) went to OTS and then Voorhees High. I went to college in FL and decided that I enjoyed winters without the snow and cold - so FL is where I settled.
My husband is also from NJ- he is from Lebabon Twp. All of our family is still up in NJ- so it is kinda like I still belong....right??? LOL
So is it possible that I knew (know) some of you..or maybe you know of me?? (Probably not---but anything is possible) /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

We're on a 3rd or 4th generation now. Everyone started at Snowbird in their beginnings. That's our speciality. When you enjoy your first shows, you just never quit looking for those special days again.
Sorry about doing it on Friday but I'm getting aged and I like to finish at a reasonable hour everyday. Basically the not before time is 2:00 PM because we never know what's going to show up before the Child/Adult stuff.

I used to live on Wallingford Way (off of Tuckerton Road) on the OTHER side of 206. I kept my horses at the Auletto's on the corner of Tuckerton and Old Indian Mills Road.
I think I know where you keeps your horses, it it near the Jennings old place?

it may BE the Jenning's old place. Its on the Oakshade side of Atsion, across from the cornfields, and has the jump ring over there too. The current owners bought it maybe 6 or 7 years ago?

Is it the place diagonally across from the huge house where they have the Clydesdales, because that is the Jennings' old place, I think its called Tails and Trails (or something like that) now. If its not that one, I think I know what place you are talking about. All of those barns over there are so cute. Your horses are lucky to live there!

Hey...Diane is still around! I catch ride a couple horses & a pony for her. She's a true horsewoman. I've learned a lot from her. I haven't seen her since before Christmas. It's been way too cold to ride! I have her phone number if you ever want to contact her. What's your name & who did you ride when you trained with Diane?

I rode with Dianne twenty years ago, when I was a Jr. I came to her with a chesnut mare, barn name Scarlet. While there I bought a really lovely four year old from Larry Aspden, from the Oares, named Top Line. She is a really special person, and an amazing horsewomen. Does she have a barn and students still? What shows does she attend?

Yes, Diane still has students. She has 6 horses under her care and I know she has some outside students that come to her. I do not know how many and who they are. She usually goes to Hidden River, Ashley Meadows, Briarwood, Monmouth, Our Farm, etc. Diane still uses the leg wraps that you have to use safety pins. I just think it's funny! Do you own a horse or still show? Where do you live now? I am going to have to call Diane to tell her you were asking about her. She'll like that! /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Yes, it is Tails and Trails Farm. Pat Brown and John Bednar own it now and Chrissy Tyksinki manages it - it is a VERY nice place and the care is awesome. And they built an indoor (back before I moved there). I've been riding there since August 1998, I bought my horse in Dec and moved him there and we bought my sister's horse in July 2001 and he lives there too now.
One of our boarders goes to Eustace - she's a senior there. Small world - eh?

This is now getting into an old timers discussion. Dianne was a fervent believer in bandages, which was a religion in of and it self. Six sheets of cotton sewn into cheesecloth for the base, covered in white flannels with safety pins while in the stall or white adhesive tape while on the van. We had to hand make both the cottons and the flannels, as commercially made were not the same. We used to make our own white lotion, by grinding the tabs with a mortar and pestle and mixing with water. Hoof packing was the same, sandy coarse powder mixed with water, it was like making concrete, and then we had to cut out little hoofs pads out of brown paper bags. There was a required uniform for riding, boots and britches or paddock boots and chaps, with a polo shirt in the summer or a turtleneck and sweater in the winter. Tack had to be cleaned everyday or it could not go back in the tack room or on the horse. Tails had to be hand picked, and if you showed up in the indoor for a lesson with a bit of shavings in the tail, you would be sent back for more grooming and would miss your lesson. Anything less than perfection on bandages, standing, shipping or exercise would require a re-do, which led to many hours of practicing. In other words, SHE WAS GREAT, a wonderful horsewomen.
I live in Virginia, and still have horses. I show in the Adult Equitation or the Adult Hunter division. Florida in the winter and As in Maryland and Virginia during the summer.
Who got snow? I didn't miss school, not even a delayed opening. We have about five inches here in Hunterdon, still snowing! /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I remember Diane from years ago! I'd love to talk to her again!
I still pack feet ( I even add epsom salts to the hoof pac mixture) and I still cut my bandages for at home, like they do on the race track (call them flannels) and use safety pins. Cotton too with cool casts and alcohol LOL!!!
Email me Ms Va, I lost your email addy when my computer crashed.
Tack cleaning after each ride is a must, along with wrapping the throatlatch in a figure eight and locking the reins through the caveson.
ms Va you should talk to my working student about shavings in the tail and about NOT ever brushing the tail except at a show LOL!
