Nickelodian's thread got me thinking to how bad my horse's registered names are, and I know some of you must have heard of a few doozies so here's a place to share /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

My first horse's reg. name was Hunkella Joe Lo (which was changed immediatly!)

My recent horse's reg. name is Tin Can Cody and stupid me put that name on his passport so I'm stuck showing with it /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Canasta's registered name is "Rockinhost". Her mothers' name was "Rocky's Girl" and her sires' name was "Victorian Host".

The stallion she is bred to for this year has a registered name of "Osama" but they are trying to change that. Now he is known as "Oberon"

But have to say, one of the worst was one of Merry's and my mother's own inventions: Determinator. (Like, what, she'd just seen a Schwarzenegger film before filling out the poor colt's registration papers?? /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif )

Needless to say, we got the warmblood association to change his name. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the reason QHSM is no longer allowed to name our horses. /infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Hey, my uncle owned Thunder Puddles. The father's name was Big Puddles. They had a few other horses, all with "puddles" in their names.

I always thought the name was a little weird and I have no idea where it came from. It was better than some of the other names that were thrown around after they had a few drinks!!!

My first Tb,
Her registered name:Sho Me Shingus
Her barn name: Flo
Her Show name when I bought her: "Kiss my Grits!"
(For anyone born after 1980, "Flo" was the name of a character on the Sitcom alice. She was a southern belle waitress who always said "Kiss my Grits")

Needless to say we renamed her to the tamer, "Go With The Flow"

Next one, "Glued to the Tube"

Best and worst name combined, an old white school horse that had fatty deposits over much of his body....
Barn name: Arby Show name: Mr. Marshmallow

Worst Ever name at a show: "How's it hanging?" on a stallion I believe.

I love both the name and the horse, Thunder Puddles (By Speak John out of Big Puddles). He won close to $800,000 and is quite a handsome boy! My brother used to take care of him. Plus his babies have such great names (Thunder Rumble, Puddle Jumper, Lotsa Sprinkles, etc.).

Wiggley Tail (TB)
Doc's Dik Dik (AQHA)

Fortunately, I own neither!

On the other hand, while my horse's registered name isn't awful, it's a little odd for a "Native American" horse (Appy): VIKING GROG

On the other hand, I had a most aptly named horse (16.3, about 1,450 lbs., aggressive jumper, near-leopard App with a big white blaze): THUNDERBLAZER!!

My friend had a horse named "Green Chilli" which I thought was horrible!

When I bought my first horse Rufus, I thought his registered name was "Mind Over Matter" because that was what was on his passport. I beg your pardon, but Appaloosa names are even worse. I had one "Circle L Prince" I showed him as App-Salute but if I had him now I'd probalblly call him something like "the horse formally known as Circle L Prince"

I mean sometimes you just gotta have fun with it because people do come up with some verrry strange names.

Yet my sister forgot some of our mother's other near-disasters. Here are a few other names of our racehorses and warmbloods that I had to secretly white-out from the list of requested names:

"Winter Wheat"
"The Great Sparkler"
"Tomorrow's Dawn"
"Deco Design" (Which was ironic, because he was a pinto warmblood, but NOT sired by Art Deco, although we had 2 Art Deco foals the same year. I think our mom was addled)

My horse was bred by George Putnam who decided to name the beast after himself - General Putnam.

My mom has bought horses named Sid and Sadat. Sadat stuck. Sid got changed to Heffalump (picture a large ugly greyish appy) or Heff for short -- maybe this wasn't much better. The person that she bought him from (at the Old Studio Stables, no less) said he named all his horses after the people he bought them from. So, she wanted to know if he would name the horse Shirley if she sold him back.

I've owned a few Quarter Horses and they all had bad names, but the worst two were/are "Holly By Cajun" and "Doc's Unskipped Clu" (my current horse). My other Quarter Horse's name was "IMA Sweet Dude" (he had Blondy's Dude and Two Eyed Jack in him for the QH people out there). When I did AQHA there were some pretty interesting names such as Sexy Kitten, Sheza Gold Digger, etc. etc. /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Dr, wouldn't that name be too long? If I remember correctly, the AQHA allows only a certain number of letters in each name. You have to give three names, and they pick the one they like best. My old trainer and I used to think of names to register some of her babies under. Most Quarter Horse people usually pick the names because it gives a hint as to who their horse is related to (such as the Doc Bar lines, Conclusive lines, Blondy's Dude lines, Two Eyed Jack lines, etc.)

That should 've been:

King Booger Doc's L'il Check'd'n'Peppy Leanin Badger San (he's a japanese QH)

The little appy's registered name is "Fantasia", which I like, the hanno's registered name is "Woody" which I changed and the QH's real name was also a good one:

"Willing And Able"

But his back was long enough to have supported the "QH name" above...

It wasn't until a few months ago when I met a friend from London, who LIVES in Kenton, Harrow (apparently it's a section of London or something??)..Anyways, pretty odd!

My first horse was a registered QH named "Judys Bonanza"......of course, at the shows the announcers regularly called her Judys Banana instead!

My second horse was "Jessicas Copy" who everyone thought was a mare, but he was a gelding. It makes more sense when you know that his sire was Koys Copy and his dam was Jessica Janie, but still...!

My guy now "A Southern Gentleman" - Finally! a good Quarter Horse name.

The Pusher by Drug Dealer

and my poor Percheron came with the registerd name Top of the Hill's Cricket (top of hill being the breeder) Barn Named Cricket. This is for a 19 hand black Percheron.

We changed his registered name to Wild at Heart. Barn name Goliath (my husband gets to pick the barn name when he doesn't complain when I bring home another horse.)

I did chance it to Little Miss Liz for when I show. I didn't know her registered name when I got her and she was being called Liz so I changed the Leslie part. Personally I think it sounds better that way anyways.
