I am looking for opinions for an article on whether or not the price of gasoline has figured into your summer plans.
Thank you if anyone cares to share their thoughts on this.

I started showing in American Stock Horse Shows last year and worked hard last summer and fall hoping to show more this year. However, Georgia only has two shows, the rest are in Alabama. I will not be doing very many of the out of state shows because of gas :( Also, we were going to do a Extreme Cowboy Challenge Series but gas has sidelined that as well. It is hard to justify paying over $100 to fill your tank when the entry fee is $15.00 and the ribbon you might have won cost $1.00!

We show with the APHA and they recently made new rules for qualifying for the World Show. You have to show before so many judges and get so many points, etc. and it just isn't possible for us. The GA Paint Horse Club only puts on one, maybe two, shows a year so we have to travel for the rest. With gas the way it is and show fees always going up, we won't be doing much showing outside of GA this year :(

I'm showing in Texas for this year. The CLOSEST show is 220 miles from my barn. The rest are farther. I live in Florida and although we usually have to travel some for shows, it is nothing like Texas.
But, the shows seem bigger this year than last (only my opinion). I think with the new APHA rule about qualifying, everyone has just realized that they have to go to shows in order the qualify. The shows don't seem any smaller to me.
I am still showing this summer, but cry when I have to go to the gas station. :(
