 I know. Mine died in my arms, right where he wanted to be left forever.
I slept on the floor touching him the whole night before he passed. I wish you {{hugs}} as you ease the passage and pray that the angel's wings are gentle.

I think I laid my to rest about 4 feet down and nothing has disturbed her grave in the last 4 years. I was going to go deeper, but it had poured and there was about a foot of rain in her grave. She always loved the being in water, so it was fitting. I still miss her. The hole in my heart was much deeper than her grave. Hugs to you at this difficult time.

I'm so very sorry. I lost the best farm dog in the world just over a year ago. She died in her sleep. Still miss my old girl.
I still feel her presence in the barn and, every once in a while, I catch a glimpse of her out of the corner of my eye.
Godspeed best dang barn dog.

I am so sorry . . . We've gone about 3 feet deep and haven't had any "resurrections". What a sad time.

I think I'll be posting a similar before the year is out. :(
A good 4' should be deep enough.
When you can, tell us more about him/her. :)

So sorry. I've lost four since July, all oldsters except the 5 year old last week to liver cancer.
I hope your dog lived a good long life.

Crying now. Again. Still?
Best dog ever indeed. And best hubby for wanting to do it right when he stepped out to hand-dig the grave. (not alone!-hands off, CotH ladies! I was digging too! (might be bawling but sense of humor is still alive and kicking ;-))
Hugs to those who have dug-or dread digging. Thanks for your kind words and comaraderie.

I am very sorry. :(
I buried my mother's corgi x on the farm last March. We went about 3 feet down and put a pile of rocks on top of the grave. Although we have a lot of wildlife around nothing has disturbed her grave.

Dig a hole deep enough to hold all your tears, wide enough to hold all your love, close enough to keep a hold on your heart...
