Also, she has been doing this for a while, but the relaxation of her pelvic muscles, that is why she is carrying her tail up most of the time. They will also to a rapid up and down movement with their tail, like a squirrel.

I just notice that both of them are wearing halters. Is it normal for them to leave halters on this close to birth, or just coincidence? Any particular reason? I know NOTHING about breeding. Except how you make babies, of course.

A friend of mine who breeds always leaves a halter on, in case things go wrong. They can use it for leverage, or to hold the mare down, or if they need to get her on a trailer in a hurry, there's no fumbling with halters.

Annie circled a couple of minutes ago - and stood in the middle of the stall with her tail kind of up, like she was trying to poop (right behind the stall likker - scared the ##%$@ out of me - thought the red 'thing' had come out of her lol) I really think she's rubbing her butt on that corner though

Ok, I admit it-I to am stuck watching this darn mare! She did this to me 2 years ago with Diva too-watched for ever and she ended foaling in the middle of my programming class at college (thats not to say I didn't see it though http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif). I'm making up for missing my mare foaling-turned the table on all of us, one month early, I visted her 2 days before, left for a quick weekend, then everyone left for a show and wham, within one hour of them leaving baby was runnign around the pasture with mom. Is that a good enough excuse for staring at a horse all day?
