I had seen a Kennel called Lionsire and thought the name was cool and I originally named my farm Pin Oaks Farm and saw there were so many Pin Oaks farms and wanted an originial..so I made mine up. Jill, I am sorry, I am flakey from watching all of these mares give birth. I didn't stay up all night, I left the webcams up, logged off of COTH and went to bed. I got up this morning and logged back on, glancing back at the wecams and, whatdoyaknow, Annie squirted that little Likit out! It was lucky timing and this time, the camera didn't cut out, she just foaled with her butt facing the wrong way!

What we used to do on UDBB when Bosshoss decided we were not welcome to fill up the boards with foaling stuff, someone would notice a mare about to go down to foal and they would post on UDBB a post with the subject line "To the bat cave!" You see, we used the little icon symbol of the smiley face with sunglasses to show that we were addicted but ashamed foal cam watcher. So, send up the bat signal and everyone will meet in the bat cave to watch and comment freely.

I stayed up the entire night, researching this (after I got over the shock of seeing horse porn when I GOOGLED "webcam horse"). Now I am at work and operating on half my brain cells.

I started another thread trying to spounge info. The software is about $20 and the cameras are going to run $50 to $200 each depending on resolution (not wireless). The wireless cameras are more convienent, but don't give as good a picture. Frosty's owner offers a WebCam package, but it can be done for much less.

I have 1 foal due in March and 2 in May.

I am sure that they are very helpful, but they have inflated the prices of the hardware and software ... the software package that they sell for $100 can be purchased at any online electronics store for $19.95. Also, they only sell wireless cameras. Wired cameras are less expensive and offer a better picture.

My computer crapped out on me so I missed part of Frosty's delivery. Her hoohoo was facing the wrong direction anyway. Annie's hoohoo was the wrong way as well. I was so shocked when Annie went down, I didn't really think it was happening until I saw the contractions and pushing.

Frodo did that a couple times the first couple fo day after he was born because Bugs was wiped out and would llay down frequently.

A quick note on how to enter a Yahoo chat...first try to enter a main Yahoo chat (not the foalchat) it will set it up for you just follow what the screen says and let it enable Java...that may work for you.

Did you guys see the story on Good Morning America this morning where a womans life was saved by her foal cam. Apparently another mare in the next stall was trying to get to a new born foal and the owner of the mare got betweent the 2 mares and got kicked badly. She was alone and it was 11 degrees and she was going into shock. One of her loyal foal cam watchers called for help for her and probably saved her life.

So see...this is not a waste of time...we could potentially save a life here. Wonder if hubby will buy that excuse :-))
