View Full Version : My Tomato Starts

This year, my tomato starts look unthrify. They're a little chlorotic, and the leaves are a little curled. I'm not sure what the deal is--they're in a good potting mix, and the seed came from the heirloom seed people. They have a ton of light.

Any ideas?

Perhaps over-watering?

Or chilled?

It's hard to know without seeing a photo.

Leaf curling is usually from too much water.

The chlorotic issue could be lack of magnesium (as you fertilizing them?), or iron, but it could also be the chlorosis virus. Unfortunately the reason many of those heirloom varieties aren't in bigger circulation is because they don't have the disease resistance that a lot of the newer varieties do.

I'd start with letting them dry out a bit (unless you're sure that's really just not a problem, but what is your "potting mix"?) and a light application of some fertilizer.

If only some of them are looking like this, I'd separate the healthy ones in case it is a virus
