Another incredible loss to the Hunter/Jumper circuit.
Joe Stone lost his battle to cancer yesterday.
For those of you who show along the east coast, he was the schooling supervisor for some of the biggest shows... like WEF, NHS, Kentucky, Devon, etc.
He was one of the friendliest men and a blessing to have around the shows. He will truly, truly be missed.
Joe and his long time friend Sapphire (http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/419081_10150716503301742_744436741_11853322_174051 0418_n.jpg)

Between Joe Stone and Don Little it has been a terrible week. We have lost a trove of kindness, dignity, class and humor that Wellington can ill afford to lose. The horses most of all. One of the greatest rewards in the schooling ring was to watch Joe watching your horse jump and seeing the gleam of approval in his eye while he tried to look impartial. The shows will be much diminished without him.

Joe Stone was a kind man who epitomized all that is good in the horse world. His quiet and dignified manner are a model other officials would be well served in following. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Good bye Joe. And thank you.

There are too many wonderful people passing away in the equestrian community lately.
My condolences to his family and may he rest in peace.

My husband worked with him quite a bit, but I'm so glad I got to know Joe better while working with him last year at the KY shows. He was quiet, but very quick to smile when something struck him as funny, which was never at someone else's expense. A very good horseman too, with many tales of the old days. He will be sorely missed. RIP Joe.
