I am FAMOUS for taking forever to name animals. Dogs, horses - most wait at least 6 weeks before they get a name... and they often end up with things like "grey horse" "baby girl", etc!

This time, I need a show name.

Horse is a TB gelding, 16.3, 6 years old, dark bay, white stripe, big bodied, silly, easygoing, into EVERYTHING.

Barn name is Anakin. They called him Ana but I couldn't bring myself to call my gelding that, so it became Anakin - close enough to the original that he still knows it.

I have a few ideas but nothing that I love. Hoping I can get some help from you!

Why don't you leave it? I know I'm a Star Wars geek, but I like it.

What is his registered name? I always really like to go with a horse's registered name - if he ends up with someone elsee, his lifetime achievement scores will be unresearchable if the new name is lost - I don't know, its just how I feel about it.

But, if you really want to find a new name for him, can we start by knowing his registered name? Might help.

I can't see the OP - did you say what color he is? Must visualize....

The most obvious would be Skywalker.

Oh, ok. Dark Bay. Hey, I like Anakin. Not alot of horses with that name. You could call him Akin. As in Ache-in (like I'm ache'n for some bacon, heh heh). I'm not being helpful so I'll just go.

I like Ankakin. Nick or Nicky would be cute barn name.

His registered name is Ana's Kiss - Jockey Club, of course.

His barn name is Anakin. I am not in love with it for a show name. I thought of Skywalker, but it doesn't really fit?

I'd call him Kinny with a show name of The Dark Side. I know it is lame but, having trouble being creative because all I can think about is BACON.........thanks a lot Another Round.

Whoops, yes, it fits, but doesn't fit HIM, if that makes sense.

The Dark Side.... hmmm...

I am also thinking incessantly about bacon now, thanks Another Round!

We had a breeding stock Appaloosa gelding who sounds like he looks a lot like yourse - big, dark bay, but our guy had a star, not a strip...

Anyway, his ApHC reg name is "The Darkness"

Whenever I think about him I just want to sing! "I believe in a thing called love..."

ETA: yourse = your horse... need coffee...

Going with something close to his registered name, how about Anna's Kin. You could call him Kenny at home.

Now I am thinking of bacon, AND singing "I believe in a thing called love..."

My office mates are looking at me like I am crazy. At least most of them have horses - I can explain!

Skywalker
Anakin's last name and a cute name for a hunter, no?

Ana's Kiss
Honestly, it's not that bad of a name!

In Your Face
You said he gets into everything...

Dark Night
While we're being Star Wars geeks, we might was well be Batman geeks!

Dark Ink
You said he's a dark bay, right?

Redav -its Vader backwards. Unique, masculine, and a little ominous.

My first thought was Vader, but I also like Dark Kiss, The Force, and I do like Anakin as a show name too - unusual but recognizable.
