I just wanted to share, since everyone on COTH understands, and while my SO is semi-horsey (bucking bulls and roping style though), he doesn't really share in my excitement.

Because of the recent lovely weather (spoiled by the rain today though), my ground at home (grass) has finally been good enough to ride on! So on Wednesday I first took rode my coming 4yo TB hunter prospect. Decent ride, didn't really want to go forward, but was generally good and we just did walk/trot. Next was my coming 15yo TB jumper. He was FANTASTIC. Lovely and soft, nice and flexible to counter bend and do leg yields. The best part was his canter...which I can rarely brag about because he is naturally heavy on the forehand. Instead, his transitions were done immediately and lightly and his canter was soft and comfortable. I was very very happy with my boy. :)

Yesterday I just rode my coming 4yo. We did some loose trots around the outside edge of my field to get him moving forward and that definitely got him going and put him in a good mood. He is now learning to balance himself and stretch his neck with his head down without me asking. We were going to jump, but that didn't go so well so instead I moved to canter work. His trot to canter transitions were the best they have ever been. Before, he responded with a lot of those quick trot steps. Yesterday, no quick trot steps and a quiet canter transition almost immediately. It was light and everything about it was so much more balanced. I am SO proud! He is quite comfortable at the canter with a big slow stride.

I do have pictures but am trying to figure out how to get them on the computer from my phone. :)

My 3 year old is just now getting started and my 13 year old is coming off 2 years stall rest/rehab from a ddft injury. Yay.

Wow- 2 years of stall rest! I can't imagine getting my older guy going again after that long without unrestricted turnout! He would definitely be a wild man.
