View Full Version : Portable saddle rack for shows

I see all my eventer friends with the saddle racks that hang over the stall door. It looks like a great idea since I never have a tack stall, but where does everyone buy them?
I've seen single ones and double ones.

Usually the tack shops at events have them. That's where I got mine :) I also got a wooden portable saddle rack but it's more for my hunter shows.

Never seen one at an event!
We use the folding ones but they take up so much room when you don't have a tack stall.

Dover carries them- both the single and double ;)

Ok, I have found these two different kinds. Anyone have a preference?

Well, I love these and have a couple myself. However, they do not work on the stall fronts where I show sometimes. So just have a back up plan!

What kind of fronts do you have at shows?

The first one has an adjustable width, which I like because you never know what kind of stall set up you're going to have. Would probably work over some fences, too.

I have this one for in the tack room
It's nice because you can put coolers, saddle pads, etc on it for drying along with a few saddles.
For on the stall when tacking up, I use this one.
I like the bridle hooks on it.
I've seen this one in use a lot. http://www.sstack.com/stable_racksorganizers_saddle-racks/easy-up-tack-room-on-wheels-08174/
It's pretty popular on my circuit.

I have an easy-up system--the frame fits on a dolly, when get to my destination I can lift the frame off & hang it on a stall and use the dolly to move hay bales, etc. I have a muck bucket attachment that also fits on the dolly so the whole thing is multi use. I just love it--got it 20 years ago and it has always been trouble free & still looks good.

I have this one: http://www.smartpakequine.com/two-wheel-saddle-rack-cart-4120p.aspx?cm_vc=Search that I use at the barn because I tack up in my stall, and I can also bring it along to shows. It also has bridle racks and is very convenient.
I also have this thingie, which I cannot remember the name of, that is basically a loop with a solid metal piece at the end (like a T, with the top part of the T being the metal thing, and an adjustable chain at the other end). You loop the chain around something solid and then put the saddle on the nylon loop - the end of the T keeps it from sliding off. It acts like a saddle rack, and when you aren't using it, it just hangs there. Pretty neat.

I can't remember exactly. But I went to a show where they had metal stall front with the grates on top and the rack fit. I think it was my daughter's show where it didn't fit. They have an all grate front and I couldn't hang it from there. I also went somewhere where Ithink they had the portable stalls and it hung so low that the saddle wouldn't stay on. But it works great at home and on the trailer!
I have seen the easy up and like it, but I am a little height challenged and don't know if it would really work for me. I like tack stalls and can sometimes split with a friend because I won't pay for one just for me. But they are not always available. So, still looking for the perfect solution.
I don't want a saddle cart because often there just isn't enough room in the aisle and I have seen them blow over. Not good.
