I'd love your help/another set of eyeballs looking over some of the Canter Cuties and Finger Lake lovlies. I figure this would be the best place to look as a lot of you already have a Canter Cutie or Finger Lakes Finest of your own.;) As far as the Canter regions go, I'd be interested in something from PA or Mid Atlantic. I'd really prefer a mare, and of course for hunter/jumper stuff. Has to be at least 15.2hh, but would prefer something 16hh+. Here's a cutie I just found on Finger Lakes.....

http://fingerlakesfinesttbs.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=thoroughbreds&action=display&thread=335

UPDATE: So after seeing a bunch of older horses with what looks to be a ton of wear and tear, I'm much more interested in maybe some prospective breeders/farms that have younger horses available? I don't mind having to start/break something in the spring.

Concerning Sunshine Richard.... when the people at that track say, "he can be reactive" along with the words "young and powerful".... well... to me that says he's spooky as shit and you will need a parachute and possibly an oxygen tank... Or he's like riding a cross between a gorilla and a helium balloon...

Woody is cute, but he's five and has done nothing... on the bright side he's very inexpensive and kind of cute.

I like the big bay mare. Our Jenea, except she looks pretty straight in the pasterns to me... could be the pictures. Worth a look.

Too bad you don't want to come to CA. This trainer seems to have a lot of nice horses. http://www.canterusa.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=4564:grey-filly&catid=41:n-cal-trainer-listings

FourMares is right -- there are a lot of cuties in PA - but they will be one shy as Lonesome Louie is coming home with us in a week or 10 days AND we have room in the trailer to bring another one down to VA (Richmond area) if anyone would like a ride!!!! So don't let distance/transportation be a worry - get a Canter Cutie for the holidays and we'll bring him/her down for you - I can't think of a better present for Xmas and you know you want one!!

Tons of chrome, kinda QH-y, the scar on the knee might be a huge issue for resale, but for a forever horse or a schoolie he's darned cute... too straight behind, so probably won't be a 3'6" horse... but... http://www.canterusa.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=5291:im-a-lumberjack&catid=58:pa-trainer-listings

Pinkeqs - I don't remember where South Side Babe is, but if she's between PA and VA you might talk to Pheobe... although I think her new boy is still a stud... even so, that's a quality mare for $900... maybe you should just call and see if she's still available...

She's at Laurel :)

Connections are really nice too, if anybody needs enabling to call or email :)

Another one, who's farther away and in our retraining program, that I can't recommend enough, is Jada:

Fabulous Jada (http://www.canterusa.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=4853:jada-cameron-nc&catid=48:ma-canter-available-now)

She is the sweetest, kindest thing, and fancy too :) Love love love love her :) She was my favorite mare of the group while she was at the MD layup farm *grin* (whoops, she's older than you want... but seriously, love her anyway!)

I just heard from a friend who is at the USHJA convention that there is a lot of support from the racing (JC?) people to promote TB's in the show ring. I do not know what form this will take, but it could mean special awards for highest placed TB or year end awards, etc.

Evidently the meeting about TB's in the hunter world was jam packed, so there is a ton of interest about getting the breed back into the ring.

Not that anyone on this thread needs extra incentive, lol, but I thought I would put it out there for interest's sake.

It makes me sad to see all these lovely horses going for so little. I have had OTTB's in the show ring for 40 years -- They are such wonderful horses.

Good luck and happy shopping!

They might be referring to new incentive programs from the jockey club.

I have some very nicely broke coming three year olds that were bred to be racehorses, but I have changed my game plan and going show horse 100% instead.

I am shocked you have not been able to find a horse.......especially a filly who typically are priced cheaper and if you are not afraid of chestnut the skies the limit in numbers to look at.

This time of the year they are almost being thrown at you....

I'm being very picky as this will be my forever horse, not something for resale. Heading up to FL this weekend, fingers crossed that I see something I like. Thanks everyone for your suggestions and tips!!

Yup, I agree!
I'm sure you have been given hundreds of leads @this point. Mods need to combine all of your threads, maybe your confused with way too much info. Time to start making those calls and sending emails!: Good luck in Florida!

Friend Steffanie Simpson on Facebook. She has some young Saddlebreds, some already shown in and suitable for H/J or dressage, and I think 2 left that are just coming 3...have not been amped up with saddle seat training. Read this thread:
