I'm looking to buy a wool (preferred) or fleece quarter sheet for a size 82" horse for under $100. I'm looking for it in custom colors (scarlet body, gold trim, piping, hip ornament would be ideal.) Going to sink about $50 into elaborate embroidery, so the less expensive, the better. Any ideas of where I could find such a needle in a haystack?

I think you are going to run into the scarlet body color as being what seperates you from expensive custom and saving money to get one cheaper. But here is one thats priced under $100 that you can get in red.

 I agree- I'm OK with red as long as isn't fire engine red. Thanks for the link! I hadn't seen this one on Saratoga's site, evidently I'm blind...

My sister is a Harry Potter fanatic and her horse's name is Patronus. I'm trying to arrange for a Gryffindor "cloak" for her horse, monogrammed with the Gryffindor crest and possibly "Quidditch Captain" to match her own favorite shirt. I can't tell if this makes me a bigger dork than she is. I thought about a black body with scarlet trim and gold piping, which may be the better idea, but the horse is gray...

Jack's Manufacturing might do it for under $50:

Their stuff will be well-made and not cheap-feeling for the price.

But I think you need to get a retail place to order these. Last time I did, I used these Jack's Turf Goods in Vernon, NY:

No relation to the other Jack's. This is a busy little shop outside a small standardbred track in Central, NY. They sell other tack as well, but I think they are used to getting custom things right for the racing professionals. IIRC, they had swatches around; they did a good job getting my very custom PITA quarter sheet right.
