I just got my new bridle that has the padding under the chin. I wanted to try my horse in a martingale but when I attached it, it sat at a funny angle. Just wondering if there is a way to position/connect it or if I am out of luck?

I bought one too! Mine sits slightly off the the left.... I did try massaging the leather to break it in more but it did not help much.

I was considering Neats foot oil to really soften it and make it bendy....

Take your martingale to a shoe shop or tack shop and have the loop where the noseband goes through made larger. I'd probably take the noseband along to show them what you're talking about.

I think it depends on the bridle. Mine is buy vespucci and its held in place by keepers that run on the buckle side, and then through the hole strap side. I usually place my martingale between the padding, and the hole strap to tighten. Horse gets the benefit of the padding and having a tight noseband and the martingale lays flat.
