I am not sure if this was mentioned in the pages of the main thread but I was wondering, I know it said on EL's website awhile back that Hickstead was available for breeding. Does anyone know if there any little Hicksteads running around anywhere? I have been heartbroken all day over this and realized I hadn't really seen anything about any offspring so I figured I'd ask.

There are a few of them. Not too many though, so sad.

Did anyone ever confirm that this wasn't just a rumor? I know it floated around for a while, but there isn't anything about it online anywhere except the rumor mill.

IF you go over to the Sport Horse Breeding forum on COTH, there is a topic that talks about confirmed breedings to Hickstead.

I don't believe the breeding ever worked out.

I know there was a thoroughbred x hickstead baby for sale here in Ontario last year.

Well that's good news. I was hoping they had started to breed a bit while he was actively competing. I am anxious, now even more so, to see how his offspring perform.

Yup - Fort Knox (http://www.woodlawnfarms.com/fortknox.htm)

Count me in as another who is anxious to see how Hickstead's get perform. I would have loved to have bred to him myself.

They probably have frozen semen still. His stud fee was pretty costly before so I'm sure a dose will be very expensive.

Such a sad loss.

She didn't catch and they ended up breeding her to Capone. Not 100% sure if she is in fact pregnant though.

According to this article, there's no frozen left in "North America". This is mobile version but hopefully it will work: http://m.theglobeandmail.com/sports/more-sports/breeders-line-up-for-champion-show-jumper-hicksteads-seed/article2229993/?service=mobile
