If Party Rose can show her pics from the 1960s, I can certainly reveal my 1970s personna. Pics of Perfect Stranger et moi now posted on WebShots. Those canary Harry Halls don't show up too well in B&W, but I think the National & Keswick pics give an idea.

I'm just not sure which photo I love the best. GREAT shots. Love your riding and love your horse. Why is it that I much prefer the photos of years past?????

I do hope that others will join in. This can be lots of fun. I have a photo of me jumping a coop (horse rapping the top of it though), that I love. It was a work off of a huge 18 & U class that I won at Rhinebeck (Dutchess County Fair). Reason I love it so much is first my dad would never let me buy photos, so I have very few and secondly, the test was to jump a shortened course without stirrups. I'll try to get it posted later today.

EVERYONE JOIN IN. I WANT TO SEE PHOTOS PRIOR TO 1980.

Party Rose...your spectacular leg is in exactly the same position in every picture. I would have killed for those legs! My short stubby legs never ever ever looked that good. Changed the title of this thread to give a little oomph.

I've always joked that I have the leg I due because I am bold legged. Great for those horses that need the mental security.

I just looked at the new thread title. I like it & hope that the others will join in.

I think your leg looks just fine!! I was thinking as I was looking through your pics how every picture I have seen of people showing "back in the day" the horse and rider always have such nice form. They all have that real classic look.

OOOOOOH! Grey Mist...I luffed that horse! Scotty rode Stranger for Winter Place just before I bought him. Before him, Jane Womble was A/O horse of year with him. Sadly, Stranger died in Shaffner's Hurdle Hill fire in '77.

Would LOVE to see some old pics of Grey Mist...crank up that scanner!!!!!

I have spent the past few hours adding photos to my album. Gotta go out and water before it gets too dark, but will continue this project that I have wanted to do forever. THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE MOTIVATION.

I finally got the time to really look at your photos and I still can't decide. They are all so cool. Lucky you. You showed at some fun ones. My parents let me show very little.

Racetb Your shots are so fun. I can't wait for more. You've brought back so very many memories, including flat, wide nosebands, "those" girths, etc... I actually began wearing a men's tie @ 1967 and people thought that I was nuts. Low & behold, I was ahead of the times.

And regarding my leg in the w/o stirrups photo: My feet are way too far out in front and I can only imagine how horribly I must have been pinching with my knees.

So I want more & more photos. They are so much fun to look at. I guess that that's another reason why I collect old COTHS. The horses really did jump classically and I much prefer the equitation back then too. Oh George, can't you revert back to your old preferences and change the style back. Oh please, oh please George.

Hi! Thanks so much for sharing those pictures. In those days, I was a little kid in the suburbs of Syracuse, dreaming of ponies.

I still remember the thrill of the first hunter class I got to watch, at the NYS fair, around 1968. I just knew that someday, I was gonna figure out a way to do that.....

I asked my Mom for a horse, and her reply was, " Oh honey, we couldn't possibly have a horse, where would we KEEP it?

Many more years before I found out that there was such a thing as boarding, and school horses.... of course then it was " that costs HOW much?"

Well anyway, thanks for those old pictures, yes, somehow they still inspire me more than recent ones..... keem 'em coming!

I have a new album up called "Horses Prior to 2004." Try to figure this one out. I think that it'll be pretty easy.

I also put Quiver's filly in the Quiver album. She was bred to the leading Arab in the country at that time and this is what the outcome was. They were all confused, as there had never been a horse of that color and I don't know if they ever got the poor girl registered. So the filly is 1/2 Arab, 1/4 TB & 1/4 Morgan. She actually was cute and moved really well, considering Victor use to call Quiver my typewriter horse. Up & down, up & down. Victor joked to the day he drove himself to the hospital, the week before he died. I will also scan & post the last photo ever taken of Victor, which was also the day he went to the hospital.

She still has this great GP horse who has to be about late 20's. He's in retirement, but what fun to remember the outside courses, hunt teams. Then we looked at each other and howled cause we're doing the AA's these days. And uh, some of us don't have scanners.. So we can't put the pics up..

Now, does anyone remember the Lilliput Farm Horse Shows? Terry Rudd is still riding from what I heard. LaurieB and Racetb, did either of you ever ride at Gwynned Valley Farm with Violet Haines?

SB All Around Farm is still standing? Wow, thats incredible, when Jack passed away his place was gone, almost as if it never happened..Shopping Mall, like there aren't any there, yikes...

I saw Mrs. Baroody in a grocery store last year [crazed as ever!] and Nancy Baroody I see once in a while, she works in politics now. The Guyers don't do much anymore...some grandchildren still at the hunt club. Terry Rudd is training again and has quite a few clients...forget who's riding her hunters, Ray Texel maybe?. This whole thread is great! http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

RaceTB, have I got some pictures for you. Let me see what I can dig up.

Party Rose, I owned Pride before Nancy. Junie found her for me in Maryland when she was an unbroken three year old. I had her for five years and sold her to Nancy was she was eight (Pride, that is, not Nancy http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif).

By the way, they weren't "and" names, they were n' names (all with the apostrophe after and not before.) Prim n' Proper was with Debbie Cahn, also at Junie's. And of course James had Neat n' Tidy. There was a fourth full sibling, Hale n' Hearty, that Junie bought for Peter Zinman, but the pony colicked and died when he was only two.

Silver Bells, you're right, we were neighbors. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

This was taken at the Ravenhill horse show in 1966. She was either sixteen or seventeen at the time. Sorry I don't remember the horse. He wasn't hers, he was a catch ride. But that's Wee Ken with Ricki Rothstein in the background. He was one of my favorite junior hunters of all time.

Yeah, Twiggy was the only one I knew for sure. I remember at Farmington somebody finally protested and Twiggy was a large pony no more. Is Marianne Steirt[sp?]still riding? What was the girl's name who rode Inky and had a zillion fancy ponies[and a zillion dollars]...then just a mediocre jr. horse and faded away? Cindy Weiner [Chimney Sweep] had a farm in New Hope when I was there with Mikey Cohen years ago...Katherine Burdsall is married and has a farm in NY..I see her at shows...and the Mckinneys and their children are all going strong. MORE PICS!! lol!

Wee Ken was a favorite of mine too.

Love the pig tails.

Thanks for the correction. I actually knew that, but had forgotten. N not and.

Thanks for all the info and bringing back other memories.

I can't believe that WE have been working on this ALL afternoon. BUT, you all have motivated me. I have had 50 years of photo albums torn apart for 3 1/2 years in hopes of properly organizing them. It just hurts my neck & back too much, so 00.00% has been accomplished. With this way, at least I am organizing them into files in my computer & will burn them to CD. THANK YOU LADIES. Thank you....Thank you....

The pony line-up is beyond me, sorry.

Keep guessing on my pony pic. Keep guessing. It was the first time I shot horses & it was pouring rain. Pouring. The show was at Mason Phelps in 1976.

How could I have missed Artie. He lives right down the road from me now. He and Steve were great to me as a child.

I am trying to get more photos up, but with my slow dial-up & WebShots being busy, they are slow. I also started a Re-Rider album. No commenting on my weight gain PLEASE. I guess that I couldn't stay at 97 pounds for my entire life. I'll get more of James, Victor & and Gail as time allows.

OK, here are the answers. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Small Ponies (from first to as far back as I can see.)
1. Moon Comet, owned by Sindy Paul, ridden by Cindy Wiener.
2. Cockscrow Flair with Lucie McKinney
3. Chantilly, Sindy Paul
4. Driftwood with Gail Hulick
5. Midget, Nancy Baroody

Racetb, is Sindy Paul the girl you meant? I don't remember a pony named Inky but I wonder if you're thinking of her 11.2 black pony named Squeaky? The small ponies she owned while I was riding with Junie included: Chantilly, Moon Comet, Driftwood, Midget, Crepe Suzette, Blue Hill, Squeaky and Fox Hunt. There were probably a few others that I don't remember. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

And for the large ponies:

1. Twiggy with Lindsay Dugan
2. Pride n' Joy with me
3. Rebel, Judy Korn
4. Chimney Sweep and Cindy Wiener
5.Prim n' Proper with Debbie Cahn

Yep!! That no ridin', bought everything, Sindy Paul..and it was Squeaky, not Inky. I think Inky was Libby's small pony when she was maybe 4 years old. It was all of 10 hh. Emerson would wack it at the in gate and this little black blur would careen around the course like a whirling dervish. God..what a line up of forgotten ponies....I was talking to Fred Becher the other day..he still has Midget's first foal, "Encore"..she's like a hundred years old now and took about a million kids through the short stirrup ranks...I am getting NO work done since we started this thread..lol!

Hi! Just wanted to say that I remember Gozzi because he is one of the main horses featured in the book George H Morris Teaches Beginners To Ride. The book is now out of print and sells used for more than $100...

I remember reading that book and dreaming of getting to take a lesson with George on Gozzi...

None of us are getting ANYTHING done today or tonight.

I just figured out that my PT preferences had changed to OFF, so I have spent the past 1 1/2 hours sending appologies & replies AND I am only 1/2 way thru. MAJOR bummer.

I had thought when looking back at the photo during the past 15ish years, that it was Shelly, but when I found a photo in a COTH that I had gotten last year thru ebay, I thought that I was wrong and remembered who I originally thought it was. Think of the mid 70's and what family was associated with the Hulicks.

Kansasgal - When I read your Gozzi, my mind totally flashed to Georges book and I had it out last night looking for a correct spelling.

racetb - Wasn't Debby Pearlman older than that in 1976 or did she have a sister that I am thinking of? My an I getting tired. Did she ride with Victor, or Ronnie or who?

I love these old photos!

First thing that got me was the wings. One shot showed everyfence with them... was that the norm? Did horses run out alot or something? Guess not with all those wings!

The other was pointed out by my husband.. no saddle pads. Then he asked me why I had to have so many. I explained to him that if he wanted to clean my saddle for me everyday, or buy me a new one every year, that was why. Told me to buy all I wanted. But he likes the idea of not using a pad at all! You would never see that nowadays...

Great pics, please post more! Wish I had some old ones - but I didn't have pics taken of me on horses when I was young. UGH!

Last time I saw Jimmy Piehler was in Middleburg circa 1978. Jennifer McCauley (Jr horse: Sara Lee) and I took a road trip up from college to see him. We rode cross country and ran into Tab Hunter out on the range. It was a glorious day and I'm so glad I have that great memory.

Jimmy was the BM at Buffalo Saddle & Bridle Club when I started riding at age 9 and was there until I was about 13 or 14. We stayed in touch until I was about 20. Geez, I miss him!

This is funny -

I too adorned the Elmira Star Gazette in the mid 70's, and I believe the picture quality was about the same. I'll dig for it later, but I believe it had to be 75' and I was on a grey large pony named Booberry. I'm actually showing at BTRC (formerly S&BC) in a month.

I'm a little younger, but in the late 70's showed with Hurdle Hill (when my mom couldn't go to whatever show) on my pony "Dot To Dot"... Then in the early 80's I showed with RY, catch riding a bunch in the Juniors, but mostly sat on a horse named Boren.

Kerrymeade! I just saw your web site. I should have known.

I must have just missed you @ Hurdle Hill. Did you ever cross paths with Tommy Brewer? He might have been just about your era, lived in Elmira and showed out of Hurdle Hill (at least in the mid-1970s when he was still knee-high to a grass hopper). I left HHF after the big fire in 1977 (Stranger, Magic Parade and 5 other horses were killed) and moved over to Quaker Hill in Orchard Park w/Stewart Moran.

When you're at BTRC show, look up Jennifer Burger and tell her you met me on COTH. She was one of my best friends growing up in riding and she and her daughter Alexandra still show with Susie.

I used to hate getting ready for the appointments classes. How many people remember cheese sandwiches with the crusts removed? I pulled my sandwich case out for one show and realized I'd forgotton to remove the sandwich from the last...green mold everywhere.

Can't wait to see: canary breeches, sky blue coat, pailsey choker, no saddle pad, flat noseband.

In those days, no one I knew used saddle pads for riding or showing. The only reason for using a pad was if your horse had a sore back. At least that was what I was told at the time.

Ahhhhhhh Janet....How cute. I didn't know that Coker was something prior to Coker.

Yes,it was a private farm, belonging to "Uncle Harry" Gibson, who was the MFH for Goldens Bridge Hounds, as well as owning and raising race horses. He was related to the Gibson of "Gibson Girl" fame, and there are LOTS of good stories about him.

After "Old Mrs. Tucker's" place was sold, the "Bedford Whip and Spur" horse show moved to Running Fox. We also had Pony Club activities there.

When the GBHPC split into a northern and southern branch, the southern branch was named "Running Fox" after the farm.

Of course, now there is no longer a "Running Fox Farm" for the PC to relate to, and, in fact, I think the Running Fox PC is now up near Peekskill.

WOW SillyHorse. Was that the first color photo ever taken? It also is the perfect example of how we rode out-of-hand. The "perfect" straight line between your elbow and the horses mouth. I really liked riding that way much better, as it was just so much more natural and I think that the horses "used" themselves better. Look at the difference of the photos of today & back then, within the same divisions.

What a great idea. I feel very strongly that history too should be taught.

It amazed me when I had not ridden in 22 years and went to volunteer ar the World Cup Finals in Del Mar. I was an usher. Long story short, after someone asking Bill Steinkraus, Frank Chapot, George and others to move from where they were standing, I was immediatly put in charge of the riders, trainers & officials area. I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO KNEW WHO THE "THE" PEOPLE WERE. How many times have I seen on these boards alone "who is Bill Steinkraus, who is...., who is..... HUM!!! History 101 is needed.

I have to look at everyones pictures and though your photos are recent, I still love your boy. Good luck with selling him. Are you off to college or looking to move in other directions?

RaceTB, sounds like you and I know lots of the same people. I grew up at Fairfield, and like so many others, Emerson was a father to me.
I started grooming all Em's ponies, and continued grooming there for many years. Knew all the Guyer and Mckinney kids and ponies well.
I went to Em's service, it was such a sad day, but great to see so many old friends.

Buryinghill..Yes, sounds like we do! I miss all the "old guard"...old Doc Raven too. Did you hunt with Fairfield at all? I'm trying to remember some of the old gang. I know Fiona Stowe has a farm in Easton & just sold me a lovely young horse, Chase Rodgers' children now ride at the hunt club..and Robin Pavone is there again and of course Lucy and Libby are still in the thick of things.
At the old garden, when I was about 7, my pony came down the ramp and Em screamed "This pony's tail isn't braided"!! We waited together while the rest of the ponies and crew disappeared up the long dark entrance ramp.. He then grabbed me by the lapels and said "Short stuff..don't EVER tell anyone you saw this"..and proceeded to kneel down on the 7th Avenue sidewalk and braid a magnificent tail!! I think it's safe to divulge that story now..but knowing Emerson he'll find a way to come back and give me hell!!! LOL

I still have my canvas leggings (the half-chaps of the time) - and does anybody remember going to the Garden (Nat'l Horse Show) in the 50's and watching people school for the jumpers out on the side street, with stable men holding a pole to be jumped? (Not to speak of poling). And wandering around in the underground stabling (you could get in the show free if you rode in on the train in riding clothes and sneaked in the horse entrance on the side street) where somebody would holler "Ware horse!" or just Track! and a pro would come tearing doown the aisle between the stalls & jump some makeshift schooling pole on hay bales, people scattering in all directions?!

Wow, I just sort of "strolled" in to this wonderful thread and I can't believe I just read about the Hulicks. I'm not quite old enough to have the photographs shown here, but I did ride with the Hulicks at their summer camp for two summers in Sterling, Massachusetts in the early 1980s. I can't believe James is dead. He was one of our instructors. That's so wierd -- kind of like a time warp. I stopped riding in the mid 80s and just got back into it about two years ago. I wondered whatever became of the Hulicks. I looked up Marion and read about her "incarceration," and well, let's just say I had very little sympathy.

mbdobbs, I went to the Hulicks' camp too. Except that I went in 1965. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif At that point, James (then known as Jamie) was a twelve year old boy that all the campers had a crush on. That was the summer he got his large pony, West Wind. I thought she was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.

Diamond Slew, my experience at the old Garden was a little different than yours. We were stabled in a tent in a parking lot about a block away (the air in the basement was terrible and our trainer thought the horses would be healthier outside.) Saturday morning, I came riding down the block dressed to show, wearing a number, and on my pony and the guard stopped me and didn't want to let me in the back entrance because I didn't have my exhibitor's pass. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

This is so weird. I keep loosing my replies when I am searching for more to quote to add to my reply, so I'm gonna make it quicker this time. I have to go back in the next few days and read everything from the past 5 or so days, as I have been super busy with the ranch/riding/house/dogs and forget about my needs. My paper pile is higher than I will admit to.

Anyhow, I was a SRRC camper in 1968 & 1970. James and I have an interesting history. I had forgotten about the "no puddle" policy. How about your memory? Remember having to DUST the main barn TWICE a day and having to rake between the main barn, down the hill to the indoors before lunch AND dinner & being late for meals??? I will NEVER forget. I hated the hill back up to the camp and was amazed a few years ago when I went to pay my respects to James, that the hill was nothing of a hill. Why did we bitch so much about it. Possibly since we were worked so hard, were hungry and were smaller, so things just looked bigger. That hill is no big deal.

For some unknown reason, I get summer camp blues EVERY year. I was nuts enough to go back in 1976(?) and ran the kitchen for the summer. I did love going to the vegi stand every day to get Marion fresh strawberries & tomatoes. Loved heading out every day to buy the food for the campers. Brain fade. What was the name of the "heavy set" cook that I picked up and dropped off every day in Worchester?

I have photos of camp that are stored away, that I took a few years ago. Should I try to find them and post a few? I think that I have a photo of the HUGE tree growing out of the middle of the swimming pool. What a weird shape pool that was to begin with. I also have very dark photos of the cabin I spent 2 of 3 summers in. Second time around was cool, as there were just two of us in there (workers) & I took off the upper, made it really homey and always kept a gallon of red wine underneath. It was the middle one of the front three.

That was the summer when I met Sally Hinkle (she was a camper) and we have been great friends ever since. Sally just got married and is now Sally Russell. So who else out there is a SRRC x-camper? More later ladies.............

Okay, someone asked earlier what did I learn at SRRC? Wow, I was there much later than you guys, in 1982 and 1983. Then I stopped riding in 1984, and, well, started again in 2002, and I paid NO attention to horses in the meantime. Now that I'm riding seriously again, I'm amazed at how much I DIDN'T learn while there -- we never paid enough attention to transitions ... It's hard to remember, really. It sounds like they still live on all that property (?) It's certainly a beautiful location, though the winters must be unbearable. I have TONS of pictures from when I was there, but I have no idea where any of them are. And yes, that pool was a very strange shape.

So how did James die? Anyone know? It's a shame. He was a talented horseman. Oh, and when I was there, he was 27 and 28, or something like that. It's soooo wierd to be in touch with people who went there.

Sally didn't want me to go in, but I had to go over to where my beds were to see if I could find something that I wrote. Nope, nothing there, but it was also 30+ years before. This is somewhat off subject.... goes back to the last thread on the "good old days".... I saw Anne Huberth the other day and asked her the question about the ASPCA finals and whether she won the first finals or not. She told me that she was "not that old!!!!" However she did win the finals and she won the first finals held after they took a break for the war. She was surprised that there was not a list available and said she would put daughter Annie to work on trying to find a listing of all of the past winners.
This is a great thread! Fun to see and read! Keep it going.

VERY good news Parminch. It's funny how as a rerider I would refer to the ASPCA medal finals and people would answer "the what?".

As I keep saying, we need an Equestrian 101 course for those under the age of 40 it seems.

I just looked in a few of my old Garden programs to see if the past winners were listed. No, they aren't, but there is a photo of the engraved trophy. The writting is really small and most is unreadable, but I can try scanning it, sending it to photoshop & see if I can get a few names off of it if needed.

Party Rose, if anyone has an old AHSA rule book, the winners of the ASPCA were in there. They used to put them in the front. Somehow, it went poof and disappeared. Have been rumaging, no luck yet..

My heels have always gone there--I think I must have double jointed ankles or something. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif The thing that always strikes me about that photo is how far my foot is shoved into the stirrup. I had brand new Vogel boots that had been made for me and because I was a child and still growing, the man who did the measuring (Mr. Vogel?) made the feet a size too big. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif The only way I could get my foot in the right place was by ignoring the first two inches of the boot. By the way, my feet never grew any bigger and the boots never fit. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

---Coming up for air, mid Olympics ---

Hey, how 'bout them Silver medal winners tonight!

I have only read a couple of pages of this thread, so aplogies if I have missed stuff from mid thread...

Equitation Lane, we already know we overlap -- Nancy Candib and Fleet Sailor and Lucy Coleman and Ilse. Also Brooke Hodgson and [Spindletop] Scotch Tweed -- remember Treeyews Zakona? Carol Walker and welcome Abord? Lisa Joy Rosen and her full brother/sister: one was a pony and one was a hony? And, of course, Kip Rosenthal and the wonderful Goodboy Dee. BUT -- who owned him before Kip? http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

We all remember Jerry. Do you also remember Chicken from the Cedar Lodge days?

Party Rose -- I believe Jimmy spelled his last name Arnot. He and I had quite the history when he came out to California as a trainer. Very sad when he died.

Cindy Ferguson was one of the nicest people in the world. And so was her mom. Always smiling and happy.

[Gulping air before disappearing again until next Monday when the Olympic flame goes out for another four years. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif ]

Sorry ladies for not playing much in the past few days. I'm hurting pretty badly & typing doesn't help. Lupus started kicking in today too, so hopefully soon I'll be back.

James died of MS. He had a long hard battle with it. Born December 5, 1953, died June 23, 1999. James won the AHSA (USEF) Medal Finals in 1970 and was second in the ASPCA Medal finals that same year. He lived in the house across the street, where he passed away.

I just posted a photo of the main barn. Not sure if it was taken in 1968, 1970, 1976 or 2002. http://community.webshots.com/photo/175962533/179365583qPiwhw

Thanks to ebay, I have a few hundred paper matte covered ones. I have a few duplicates, some that are not in great shape though, but they're waiting under a HUGE pile, under my dining room table, waiting for me to relist them on ebay when I get the motivation.

Dear Party Rose-

I am a computer moron and I tried to send you a private message but I could not . So everyone bear with me here.

When I saw my sister for the first time in three years I was so upset. I thought her boy friend had given her black eyes. She was wearing the butterfly mask because her health insurance had run out. When my brother explained to me what was happening we both made sure my sister got the correct meds.

I have so much respect for you Party Rose you do not know!!! Please keep riding and posting. I check on your posts often. I understand personally why you get tired but some of the posters may not. Please explain to them why you do and how much it takes just for you to post and ride.

To all of you lurkers and board members Party Rose is one he$$ of a person to do what she does!!! I do not think I could do what she does!!

I hope you have a better day tomorrow.

Somebody has mentioned the Hulicks - I remember them as little kids on little ponies winning a lot of ribbons. George Morris was my age as well as Victor Hugo-Vidal - with whom my best friend had a blind date one time, not successful. and a friend of mine dated Ronnie Mutch in college. Anybody remember Round Hill Stables & Teddy Wahl? Old fashioned hunter seat, but a great horseman who took loads of kids to the Garden in the 40's and 50's and often won. The jumper riders were mostly wild and wolly pros, until Betty Bosley came along with a big chestnut called The Clown and a beautiful equitation forward seat, and beat them all with a controlled approach to jumps and a snaffle instead of galloping sideways with 3 different martingales & big curbs & flinging over, rider a mile out of the tack. Back when a neck-leaning "release" was what beginners did before they got balance & a leg. If my company ever leaves I'll dig iin the attic for some 50's photos - and maybe get out my first now pale purple blue ribbon from Laddin Rock Stables in Old Greenwich, 1946!

OLD A/O -Aaaahhhhhhhhh. Talk about a HUGE pat on the back. Thanks so much. I still haven't touched the paper pile, but did get some outside plant watering done today & hope to get back on a horse in the morning or Friday. I'll just have to see. It's all just a fine balance. I'll explain everything in the next few days, as it will take time, LOTS of energy & many ups & downs from the desk. My elbows are REALLY ugly from propping my back up on my desk as I type.

PT/PM'ing is pretty easy, IF you know where to go. I have mine set up so that I do not have to go check them on the COTH board. They come directly to me through my Outlook/regular email with my server. More on that later, as that is lesson #3.

Lesson #1:
To view sent and received (in & outcoming) private messages:
Go to "Go" on the tool bar
Then "My Space"
Then "Private Messaging"

Lesson #2:
To post a private message
Click on the persons name (like mine on the upper left of this post) that you want to send a message to
The click on "Invite so & so to a private topic"
Type in your subject
Type in your message
Click "post now"

The message will be sent to only that person and is for their eyes only. Send me a test PT/PM. I hope this helps.

Now to see if you have you passed lessons 1 & 2 with flying colors. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Well I finally did it. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I found a few rolls of film that I took in the summer of 2001 at SRRC that I am going to scan and put in my Web Shots album. I'll let you all know when they are posted. I'll post them to the Victor, James & Gail album.

What I'm wondering though, is if I should keep the subject in this thread (it is relevant) or should we start a SRRC thread? Should we have a SRRC Cyber Reunion via COTH BB? I need your input.

Party Rose
Aug. 30, 2004, 12:29 AM
They are scanned and entered under the "Summer Camps" album. I think that I got all in that I wanted too, but I'll have to check tomorrow. Also, I tried putting one of James's house in & I had lots of difficulty. Either it won't be there, be there once or possibly twice. I'll have to check it in them morning.

Also....Should I open up a "Saddle River Riding Camp Cyber Reunion" thread?

Bummer. It took many 1 inch Hershey's almond bars to get me through this project. Oh well. I think that you old campers will appreciate these photos. Have fun....Enjoy...........

Very funny story speaking of Mother Superior and a nunnery. I got a letter from my boyfriend the first summer I was there and left it on my bed when I went out for the afternoon. Someone looked at it and very quickly the Mother Superior was having a chat with me. It appears that word of mouth to mouth to mouth got the contents changed as you can imagine. Saul was telling me that his camp counselor's girlfriend was pregnant. So the whole camp thought that it was actually me. 15 & pregnant in the Nunnery for the summer. http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/lol.gif

I have no idea. http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/lol.gif http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/lol.gif

That was a looong time ago. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Here's the layout I remember. If you were standing with your back to the pool, then the arts and crafts cabin would have been on your left, as well as another cabin that campers used. In front of you would have been three (ack! maybe four?) cabins that each slept seven campers and a counselor. "My" cabin was the farthest left of that line of cabins as you stood up the slope looking down at them.

Does that sound even remotely right? http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/lol.gif http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif http://chronicleforums.com/images/custom_smilies/lol.gif

LaurieB Yep, I can't remember if there were three, but I think that it was four larger. Was the one you were in the one that the youngest campers were in? I really don't know why you can't see my photos? Can you see other peoples Webshots? Possibly it's your computer. I don't think that anyone else has had problems accessing my pictures. Try copying the link & pasting it to a google search. That might do the trick.
