I'm going to be moving out there sometime next year and I was just curious if anyone had suggestions and or experiences in that general area.

I've read a few not so great things about Rising Star Farms but then again, who knows. It was the one barn that really interested me. I'd probably scope it out personally before I go on hearsay.

Suggestions, recommendations?

There are many PNW COTHers -- hopefully they will be chiming in soon. Here are some past threads that might help in the meantime:

Oregon Dressage Society has a Facebook page and website.

Check out Flying Changes too - great classifieds. Online and print.

Best wishes.

Lovely woman who I've known for years. Her barn is in the greater Eugene area - she teaches dressage and also has some H/J folks. Definitely worth talking with her! If her program doesn't fit your needs, she'll be able to make some great suggestions. She grew up in the Eugene area and is well-connected in the dressage community.

Second the recommendation for Katie -- she is my current trainer and she is awesome. Are you looking for somewhere to board? Katie works out of Triple Crown Farm in Pleasant Hill, which is where I am currently boarding.

It is a pretty big barn (60+ stalls). If you are looking for something smaller I can also recommend my former trainer, Sarah Kress (Eskay Equestrians). She is great and takes terrific care of the horses. I only moved my horse because he was lame for a long time and Sarah's place is a training barn, and because Triple Crown is much closer to my house.
