View Full Version : Which size boot?

Hey all, I read here often but post little. :)

I am buying cavallo sport boots for my gelding, as I heard they fit a more narrow hoof and I'm looking for something simple to use. We won't be going through mud or any kind of extreme trails or for any serious mileage, so I think they will work well. Problem is, my horse is right between sizes and I'm not sure what to pick.

The length right after a trim of his hooves was 5.25 inches. Size 3 boot is 4 15/16th - 5 3/16. Size 4 ia 5 1/4 - 5 1/2. I want to use pads... will they take up enough of the space to make size 4 useable? (Pads are 6mm thick.)

Thanks so much in advance!

When I ordered the cavallo sport boot I used my exact measurements and choose the size their guide suggested and they were right on the money, no wiggle room at all.
If your horses hoof is 5.25 (5-1/4") I would think the size 4 boot would work.

The other day we crossed a somewhat boggy swamp and the sport boots did not get sucked off, I was impressed.
