I am in SE Michigan and about a week or so ago, we got close to 6 inches of rain in one night. Well, there must have been generations of mosquitoes waiting for a 500-year storm, because I can't go outside now without inhaling them. The poor horses are getting eaten alive despite soaking them with flyspray - I even sprayed some DEET on them last night. I just went out to feed the chickens in long sleeves and long pants and got bitten twice on the neck and twice on the face (charming). Ugh. I'm ready for fall.
Has anyone found anything particularly effective against mosquitoes on horses? I've been leaving the flysheets off because it's been so hot and my pasture doesn't have much shade outside of the shed.

Deep woods off. Good luck.
