So... I have this choice of events to bring a first-time doing-rated horse to. He has schooled with prior owner in MD but I don't know that he actually ran at an event.

We are coming from LI and are planning on staying overnight before the event.

If you had this choice which would you prefer?

Either way we have to go up to school before as the choices on LI are pretty limited. The only difference is the date with one being a week later.

Kent. Don't love the footing for the dressage rings and stadium at EW--it's quite deep. Bring bug spray for Kent though and an ear bonnet for your horse.

I have never competed at EW but Kent is an excellent first go at a BN event. The toughest part is the trailer ride up the hills of CT ;) The stadium and XC and are very inviting at the BN level. My wee TB that did not really like XC, would jump around at Kent. Practice your dressage on a slight hill with grass footing prior to the event.

Have fun!!!

Kent has a really nice BN course. Very inviting, fairly flat, no ditch, no water. Simple, straightforward fences, and a small step up and down. Have fun!
