wandering over from endurance land...

Cleaning out my tack trunk, I found my Tipperary vest from my eventing days. I was thinking of taking it over to the local pony club's consignment shop, but I don't want a child to be wearing it if it's no longer safe.

Anyone know what the useful lifespan of a vest is? Does the foam start to break down at some point? I only used it for about a year and never had a fall in it, but that was about 15 years ago. Since then, it's been stored in a cool, dry place.

Should I just trash it?

If it's over 15 years old I'd throw it out, even though you've not worn it. They do have a finite lifespan, not sure what happens, but they do loose their ability to protect you in a fall...
