I have a 10 year old outdoor arena with sand and rubber. The sand had broken down to almost dust. When the arena is wet the footing is great. When it's dry the horses can't get any purchase in the footing-nothing to push off against as there is too much give (think beach sand). I don't know that replacing the footing is an option ($$). A watering system is probably not an option as the arena is at the top of a hill. Anyone else have a similar situation? How did you improve your footing? I am trying to avoid any injuries. Thanks!
