View Full Version : Jumper Derby Scoring?

I have started eventing this year and have been loving it! I went to a Jumper Derby recently, which had a dressage test with the usual scoring, and a jumping portion which was a mix between show jump rails and xc jumps. I know normally in eventing, your dressage score is usually what determines your placing as long as both stadium and xc are within the time limit and have no refusals/knockdowns/falls.

However, in the jumper derby, I received a technical score sheet with a bunch of 9's and 10's for the jumping portion, and it lowered our score by a few placings. We had a clear round within time and no faults. Not all the spaces on the sheet were filled in, so I am not sure how these scores were decided on. Anyone have any ideas? Do derbys always score the jumping portion on position, speed, and form like a hunter show?
