Posting here on the Event forum because I know you guys use these girths. I am riding my 4 year old dressage prospect in an AP saddle and am using a wintec girth. I want a double elastic end girth with fleece as I think it would be more comfortable for her. What do you use and why do you like it? Are they easy to clean? Thanks in advance!

I find that they are all pretty much the same...Same price range (mostly), same wear and tear. I wash mine ALL the time (this time of year it can be every day). They are doing great.

I do really like the Lettia CoolMax ones, though. They are a little different with a CoolMax lining instead of all fleece. Supposed to keep them from sweating so much or wick sweat away or something...I don't know how true that is, but I have world class sweaters.

Cheap. Easy to clean - just throw them in the washer. Been using them for years and the horses seem to like them.

I've had several different brands and they all seem pretty comparable as far as care/ durability. The one I have now as a show one is from Big D and is not quite as fluffy as my everyday Dover one, which is nice.

I do find after a while the sheepskin doesn't get super white anymore, at least right below the saddle. That's why I have two :)

Anybody have a problem with the buckles on your girth rusting after you wash them? I have two of the Dover ones that I've had to throw away, because the buckles rusted so badly, you couldn't open them...

I coughed up the extra cash for a Toklat Woolback lined girth. One, it was one of the few I could find that was black with white fleece; and two, you can get stainless steel buckles on it. It also has really nice, tough elastic and I could get a 56" (he has well sprung ribs!)

That said, I also really like the Lettia CoolMax girths. We have a lot in our barn and the store I work at carries them. Very nice and they hold up well. The newer ones even have the little spring-loaded buckles.

Most cheaper fleece girths don't have stainless steel buckles, the old Passport girth I have is pretty much unusable due to rusty cheap buckles. Also the elastic stretched out really badly.

Toklat. Hands down. The best ever, ten times better than any other fleece lined girth I have ever had. Worth the money.

SmartPak. The brown is a darker color which I like, the buckles are stainless, it is inexpensive and washes well.

Do any of these that have been mentioned use 3-ply elastic? The 2-ply just ain't cuttin' it.

I love these girths- especially if we go to the beach or through water- so nice to just throw them in the machine and out pops nice clean girth!!! Horsey seems to like them too!

Have I mentioned Toby sweats like a pig? I wash mine almost every day (and just realized I didn't throw his in the washer tonight! Crap!). After our hard dressage lesson today I realized I REALLY need to get a couple more in his size (I have big ones but not anymore 50s), he took a big deep breath when I hopped off....and basically wrung the sweat out his girth!! He had a big puddle under him!! Gross!!:dead:

Yes, but I need it for my jumping saddle, which is chestnut and has short billets! I did find somewhere online that you could order the Toklat girth with brown fleece--but it would have been like $80, and I decided I'd rather have multiple girths with the white fleece.

Another Lettia CoolMax user here. I have their dressage girths and think I'll get a long one as well -- they hold up GREAT to my double-horse abuse and wash up beautifully in the washing machine with no special care at all.
