“Fire” and “Ice” Run for ReRun in the Haskell Invitational

If there aren’t already enough reasons to root for hometown heroes, Pegasus (G3) winner Pants on Fire and Belmont Stakes (G1) winner Ruler on Ice, at this Sunday’s Haskell Invitational, you can add charity to the list. This dynamic duo, owned by George & Lori Hall, will be running to benefit retired racehorses at ReRun, the Thoroughbred adoption organization and aftercare program for Monmouth Park.

Running for ReRun is a fundraising initiative of the organization’s in which owners donate a portion of their horse’s race earnings to ReRun. “It is a great way for owners to give back to the horses in the industry and help support the horses currently awaiting adoption in our program,” said Felice Busto, Vice President of ReRun, “and we are very grateful to the Halls for generously offering to have both horses Run for ReRun in the Haskell.”

Ms. Busto hopes that the Hall’s participation in the Running for ReRun initiative will encourage other racehorse owners to join in. “We depend on financial support from owners, breeders, fans and the racing industry to be able to give ex-racehorses a second chance when their racing careers have ended.”
