I know we've been talking about cooling vest alot lately and I think I found one I like. Now, I need to know what color. Ive heard terrible reviews on the white vests and not being able to get them clean without destroying the vest, so white is out. My other options are tan and black.

The rules state:

Cooling vests may be worn underneath a riding jacket. If coats are waived, a solid-colored cooling or lightweight vest may be worn over a riding shirt as specified in DR120.7.

So, either color sounds legal. What colors have you seen at rated shows? Or have you seen people showing in cooling vests at all?

Here is the vest Im looking at.

I've seen plenty in vests and cooling vests. I've seen lots of black, as well as some grey and a dark tan/taupe. Personally, I like the grey and taupe the best... Black just doesn't look that great on many people, too harsh IMO.

I have the tan/taupe. I figured it was the best bet with the carolina red clay we have at many venues. Black can show dirt almost as easily as white, so I went with a brown tone, LOL.

I love my vest, even here in the humid south. I keep it moistened (dunk quickly and wring out) and then in a plastic bag in the cooler until I get on. It's a bit wet, but honestly makes me feel better even if there is no true evaporative cooling.

I agree with these choices but only because black absorbs heat so I would guess it would speed up the warming up of the vest contents.

Tan is not a good color for me to wear anywhere near my face, too much silver/gray doesn't look good on my horse, and I feel like the black would attract too much sun, so I would probably go for the blue.

Last summer I scribed at a nationally recognized show in NC In July and there were lots of all colors, including black. The black looks the sharpest, to me.

I think the silver is sharp. Maybe it kind of depends on what color your horse is?

These phase change ones work A LOT better to keep you cool. They are heavier and pricier, but if heat is really an issue for you they could be worth it.
