View Full Version : Anybody have one of the Toulouse monoflaps?

I'm talking either the eventing/XC one (Marielle) or the Verona dressage one.

I sat in a couple and liked them, and my friend's seemed to fit Potential New Horse pretty well when we popped it on him yesterday.

The consignment County dressage that I found for a SONG, alas, did not fit--too "curvy" for his flatter back. :(

This horse wears "wides" and I will have to (*choke*) buy two new saddles if he vets. Hence my searching in the "inexpensive saddles" category. I haven't got the patience, honestly, for endless back-and-forths with used saddles and ebay. I would need these saddles soon and don't want to murder what's left of my budget with expensive saddles. Down the road that's do-able, perhaps, but not this summer!

I have a monoflap dressage saddle now and haven't met a monoflap jumping saddle I didn't like. So anyone have either of these and care to share their opinion?

Check the panels very carefully on the Toulouse. Make sure they were pulled up straight and that they are even and straight the length of the tree. I saw a nightmare Toulouse dressage that was brand new.

The older county profit I have has much less curvy panels, more like this:

Haven't forgotten your Pro-Fit, scubed! :D I may ask you for a test-ride if this critter vets. After I put on the addition to my tack room.

I did not like any of the Toulouse saddles I sat in (many). I do love the stirrup leathers.

You might check at Classic if you haven't already about the New Extra Forward Pariani Florina or whether any of the Phillip Fontaine saddles or Meyerstone saddles might work. They know and carry the Toulouse as well, so could give you comparisons.

I have a Phillipe Fontaine for Bonnie and like it a lot. Unfortunately their widest wide is more like a generous medium. :(

Wintec for something to ride in until the perfect saddle comes along?

Albion K2? They seem to fit wide well.
