DIETS! I see by my New Year's Resolution thread, that a lot of us plan to lose some weight. I've put all the names of those joined in and said weight loss was a goal, in my P.T. contact list. Anyone who wants to, is more than welcome to join in, and get and give support. You can P.T. me, or just says so on this thread. Let's see if we can stick it out to achieve our goals, and not give up after a week or two.
less hard work, more fine dining.

I started early, at the beginning of December and have lost about 5 lbs so far. I am not by any means overweight but I want to get back to where I used to be, and would like to lose another 5-10 lbs.
I am just doing portion control and trying to really stay away from sugars. It is hard this time of year, since our house is FULL of cookies/chocolate/etc but I find the less I eat it, the less I want it. I am also makign sure I dont eat more than about 1200 calories a day depending on how much activity I do.
I am also trying to wait as long as possible before eating, and "bear" being hungry, and then only eating enough to stop the hunger pangs. That has helped a lot.
Other than that, I have started doing some pilates. I only do it for a few minutes every day or every other day. It seems to be working, or at least its making me feel better!

Meh, count me in. http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I'm not overweight but I would like to lose 10lbs. (I also need to get into better shape... I'm OK riding-wise, but when I'm breathing a little after running up and down the stairs... LOL http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif I blame school. There's no time for anything but studying (that piled on top of an x-mas break filled with cookies and cakes and other refined carbs certainly doesn't help...)
Perhaps actually writing it down will help me put my 'get in shape' plan into action. (I swear for the past week I've been saying "This is the last day for sitting around and eating cookies", and inevitably, the following day becomes the new 'final day', and then the next, etc.) (COTH is helpful for so many things http://chronicleforums.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif )

I think GM should do an exercise video for equestrians. Then he could berate us about our weight in the privacy of our own homes and at the same time motivate us in exercise by explaining how being more fit will improve our riding.

As soon as I get over the flu, it's back to the gym. But somehow, when I can't breathe or walk from the couch to the bathroom without feeling dizzy, I'm betting the folks at my gym won't mind if I start my New Year's resolution a little later.

Good morning, everyone. i'n trying to start a private topic, but so far I can only Pt one person at a time. Does anyone know how to do a group PT? There are, at last count, 49 of us, including me. i got on the scale this morning, it isn't pretty. So, good bye 25 pounds. I did 20 minutes of "Falun Dafa" because I found a video tape at the library, in their free to good home stack. It's a lot like yoga, but apparantly it was banned in China, because of it's political association! My small stallion will apprecitate it when I lose all this extra baggage, because I'm starting to break him, and I'm just that much too big for him.
Someone mentioned something about a link to their own site, to do this group thing, maybe that's an option.

Hi, Kerby, MSN Groups sounds good, how does it work? Maybe a weekly check in here would be good, too, so that anyone who isn't in the group can be helpful and supportive, as well.
I've been doing some yoga every morning, and I am starting to feel a little more flexible. I have really tight muscles from all the barn chores, but I don't do anything that really stretches my arms, back and legs. And this afternoon, I'm off to the chiropractor, with an hour long massage, to follow.
I have to be really good today, because tomorrow is my mom's birthday (77) and there will be cake.
How's everyone else doing? Any special secrets/tips to share?

Please, please, please, I am a techno moron but count me in too....
I have gained 30+ pounds in the past 3 years...the last 20 have been gained since Christmas 2002....
What I really need is someone to do my grocery shopping on a regular basis...I don't mind cooking if the stuff is already in the fridge, but it is too easy to come home after 14 hours at the barn and drive through the "Fast Food" or microwave crappy hi fat prep food instead of grocery shopping and cooking....
I did take the first step by purchasing the "South Beach Diet" book on sale at Sam's Club.....now I just have to read, understand, and do it....

dancing lawn: MSN groups only require a person to 'log on' using an email address (of which they can provide you with one, there are free hotmail accounts if you want.) The only problem is that MSN and macitosh computers don't like each other. I can set up a rough group for people to look at and see how it is, before we agree or disagree to have it. They even have a group 'chat room' if people want to talk one on one real time to people. The easiest thing to do is make one, then show you.

Just wanted to add, that along with getting my hair done ( resolution #1) I went to the chiropractor this afternoon, for a complete overhaul, and followed it immediately with an hour long massage. I feel like a whole new person. Why do I not treat myself like this more often? I always put off the things that make ME feel better, but not anymore. The next appointment is booked for the first of March.

Checking in. I have been busy dealing with my father-in-law's trip to the hospital and all. Diet was not a priorty as I ate when I could and what was available, need I say more. I am just going to try to just exercise more (at home since cold and bad footing have put riding on hold) and really try to limit the "bad" foods (cookies, donuts, etc..)for now to at least prevent more pounds from packing on for now. When things are better settled I will be able to really think of a pound trimming plan.

peace........the article read:
"The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the
things you've started." So I looked around the house
to see all the things I started and hadn't
finished....and before coming to work this morning I
finished off a bottle of red wine, a bottle of white, the
Bailey's, Kahlua and Tia Maria, my Prozac, some
valium, my cigarettes and a box of chocolates. You have no idea
how freakin good I feel.... You may pass this on to
those you feel are in need of Inner Peace...

I have just discovered that I have 5! Presidents Choice chocolate bars in my cupboard. Also, 3 Terry's chocolate oranges. I am so in trouble. That means I have nearly 10 pounds of chocolate in the house. Plus, there's a frozen apple pie. But I will be good. I won't eat everything at once. i won't.
