We're looking at a nice used Sundowner step-up trailer and I can't remember the measurement from ground into the trailer for the horse. I think it was 20" which is higher than the Featherlite we presently use. We have a pony so the height is an issue.

I can try to remember to measure when I get home tonight.
I have a small pony I've trailered in it and he has no problem getting in, but he came to us as a good loader.

I don't have a Sundowner step up, mine has ramps, but wanted to post a heads up. I HATE this trailer. Very poorly made. The posts still stay in place but none of the breast bars and butt bars work consistently, they have loosened over time and the spring connections aren't long enough anymore, so they have to be tied in place. The ramps are not great, one is really unusable because it is to steep. Compared to my Hart and Trailette, this trailer is really poor. Can't wait to replace it with something well made..................
