View Full Version : Where do you look for used saddles?

I have a really nice, well maintained dressage saddle I would very much like to sell. I have advertised it locally here and there but haven't had any luck. Where would you go to look for used tack? Maybe I'm missing out on a good resource to help get this sold. I have used bits & Bridles.com with no luck aside from scam emails. What do you guys think?

I am watching ebay for a used County eventer, but I know exactly what I want. When I wasn't sure I shopped www.fineusedsaddles.com (http://www.fineusedsaddles.com). Patricia allows trials, the one I tried was as described but not what I needed, return was easy

Those will all take a commission. If you don't want to pay a commission, aside from ebay and craigslist, I would recommend your local USDF site (if they have one), local dressage GMO boards (dvcta.org, http://www.cdcts.org/classifieds.html etc), and consider the area sites for eventing www.usea2.net, www.usea3.org

I just bought my Kieffer off Ebay, 3rd saddle I have purchased this way, looked on every site first. Pelham Saddlery had a few good consignments also, for buying or selling.

I sell quite a few used saddles for people. I have had the best response from Ebay, Tacktrader.com, Craigslist (people search nationally), Horseclicks, equinenow.
I search the Saddle Wanted ads on Bits n Barter. The market is tougher now than it has been in the past but I usually sell them within 30 days.

I also just google the type of saddle I want and end up finding all kinds of more local ads

What kind of saddle are you selling?? I'm looking for a used saddle and I have been to all the websites everyone listed! First, I just Googled the name of the saddle I was looking for, that brings up quite a bit. One of my first looks was also on EBay. I think Equine.com and Equinenow.com has some options for free listings for tack as well. Also an idea, make a video of the pictures you take of the saddle and put it on YouTube. Just so you know ... coming from a buyer! :)
