I do enjoy how clustered the rides are. 3 points separate the top 8 rides? This is competition.

Diablo lame.

GS way overscored IMHO. good for USA, not so good for dressage.

sorry, Dablino hit himself in the warm up according to Astrid

Steffen: beautiful ride 77%. three judges placed him first, two second but he ended up second so far. too bad, thought he had a better ride than Isabel on El Santo.

Toto to come...

Agreed...Ravel looked great. The canter lengthening blew me away. I thought it was a better ride than Werth...but, I'm not an FEI judge. ;)

Darn it...I miss Laura's ride on Hojris. Must have been beautiful; she had the lead for a bit. Now Toto is in the lead with an 82.

Laura's ride was nice IMO but definitely not the best I've seen from them. Alf was a bit reactive to the atmosphere today and it seemed to me that Laura rode conservatively as a result. Nice to see a better test from Rath/Toto as well - can't complain much about the scoring this time.

. Nice to see a better test from Rath/Toto as well - can't complain much about the scoring this time.

Scoring was consistent..except for this blip on the 5 half passes:
Judge at E: 6
H: 8.5
C: 8
M: 8.50
B: 6.5

He also got a 10 from C for something (passage perhaps), but that was lowered before scores were finalized.

Must have been something that you could see from the side, but not the front

Mardi
Jul. 14, 2011, 10:27 AM
Yes.
And another one, this one for Parzival.
Extended Canter
Judge at E: 4
H: 6
C: 4
M: 4
B: 9

All other scores consistent.

That was a BIG spread on the Parzival scoring! Haven't watched, so wonder what the B judge thought he/she saw that no one else saw?

Oberon13
Jul. 14, 2011, 12:35 PM
I'll bet the judge at B didn't see the bobble at the end (early lead change, counter-bent...possibly spooking in the corner as they began the transition down to collected).

So are you all premium members, or did the site just think I was special in telling me I couldn't watch because I needed a premium membership?

If I knew it would buffer then play on my slow connection (hello boonies with only one satellite internet option, no DSL) I would be willing to pay, but since I can't find out, it wasn't something I was about to do.

No need for a premium membership, but I think it sometimes puts that warning up during the breaks. I did have to refresh the screen a few times when it got stuck, but that was all.

I just tried to load it at all. It farted at me during Steffen's ride, then wouldn't load at all.

Most likely it was due to our internet connection, then. The problems with living on an old cattle ranch!

Why, lookey there - Matthias won the class.

Such a shame about Dablino, though - I would love to have seen how he stacked up in this company.

Edited to add that I found the answer to my question about the Nations Cup. It is decided based on the GP. First place to Germany, 2nd place to Great Britain, 3rd place to the Netherlands.

Thanks. I wasn't clear - I meant just as in only, not just as in at that moment. Oops.

But yeah, during the broadcast it wouldn't broadcast for me. I only tried to load it, didn't try for full screen. And it farted at me. :)

I stumbled early out of bed straight to the computer this morning fully expecting to catch some of the Grand Prix Special, when what before my eyes does appear (), but a mean, lean, rangy Thoroughbred exiting the ring.

I'm OK now. I usual enjoy the momentary, heart-stopping-transfixtion of life's WTF moments, but preferably not within the first minute of waking up.

Nice analysis here from Astrid: http://www.eurodressage.com/equestrian/2011/07/15/rath-controls-ring-cdio-grand-prix-2011-cdio-aachen

I like the point that Mistral Hjoris might have beat Totilas if mistake free... tomorrow should be fun.

A close 2nd to Totilas is phenomenal.

Some of Steffen's artistic scores were higher than T.'s

Congratulations to Steffen on his success at Aachen and to the owners !

Winner: PSG
Winner: Intermediare
Top 5: GP and GPS
2nd: GP Freestyle

I'd say they had a good show ! :)

Did anyone else get the impression that Totilas looked royally pissed off through the whole free style? Rath didn't even smile at the end.

I thought he looked tired and a bit sluggish - seems Rath was working to keep him in front of his leg. Also, they do not yet know this freestyle very well. Isn't it just the second time they have performed it in competition?

The horse looked as spectacular as always, but the rider made some mistakes. (no I couldn't do better, it's jmho) I didn't see any of the other rides, kind of surprised he won after watching the video.

Gestalt, some of the other top rides are on that same site, under the unfortunate spelling of Aken. Warning: they do have adds, sometimes in the middle of a ride, but the ride takes up again where interrupted.

I know I will never ride at that level and if I do it will only be in my dreams but there were times I wanted to scream at his hands. There was a portion coming out of the temps that Toto's nose was on his neck literally. He also seems quiet a bit leaner then before. After watching Ravel's test vs Toto's I really am surprised Toto won. He can't keep winning based on who he used to be forever.:no:

I thought Steffen Peters had a better performance in the KUR. Loved his music. Gosh his horse is so expressive in the half pass, passage and piaffe.

Totilas always looked happy with Gal, with Mathias not so much. Totilas and Gal, to me at least, always seemed to present such a feeling of lightness and joy. That seems to be gone with the new rider. Totilas is still a very, very nice horse but he's far from the horse that he was before.

Don't know where he ended up in the standings, but Fuego also had a nice freestyle.
