Anyone ordered from sheepskindeals.com? Comments on price and quality?

I just had a saddle fitter out who adjusted the flocking in my saddle. My saddle will now accomodate a sheepskin pad. I have a Mattes half pad, but am thinking about getting some all-in-one pads to avoid stacking pads or using the half pad alone, like this:

The contoured pad is appealing because it's hard to find saddle pads that don't look like nightgowns on my gelding.

I recently bought a Stephens sheepskin girth from this vendor on Ebay, and they also have sheepskin pads. I really like this brand- real sheepskin, super high quality and affordable.

Me too.

Yes, those are Engel pads.
They wash and wear very well. Plus the shaped pads look great on my elegant TB ;)

Thanks, good to know. I know lots of folks here love the Engel pads.

They don't have a channel down the middle, do they? I like the channel so I can pull the pad up into the gullet over the withers. I can't see why I couldn't just take my clippers and shear a channel down the middle. Would this be a bad idea for reasons that I can't foresee right now?

My horse seems to be going so much better now that his saddle has been adjusted. I put the Mattes pad under a cotton saddle pad (which is a little unwieldy) and he seemed much more relaxed and willing to stretch. I thought he was just working through Arab high head/tight back stuff but I guess he actually thought his saddle was not comfortable. It used to fit him better, but his shoulders have really muscled up and there were pressure points behind his withers that have been relieved now. The sheepskin must feel so much better too.

I believe on the Engel site you can find shaped pads w/cut-outs along the channel.
My pads are fully fleece'd but at my saddlefitter's suggestion I did exactly what you mention.
When you clip along the channel, make sure not to go in so deep as to tear the hide or fabric. I have 6 pads – all shorn down the middle – no problem whatsoever.
