I have used a cresent on a large mare that crossed her jaw. It worked like a charm on her, it got so that I would put it on her as a reminder every few weeks and she would straighten up, then she would test the drop that she also went in, put the cresent on, good again for a bit. We did show in it, had a few questions from bit check, but just showed them the picture in the USEF rules on my smartphone and all was good.

I used a cresent with a gelding that crossed his jaw and put his toungue out. It worked great and was legal-but you need to make sure you have a cresent (I am sure you already know that), not a kincaid-they are very similar looking, but the kincaid is not legal, and is way easier to find.
