Hi,
I've been recommended to come onto COTH and use the collective horse person power here to get some feedback about the horse scene outside Georgia State University.

I'm looking at facilities (private and public) that aren't exorbitantly priced and are within an hour commute of GSU downtown. I'm also looking at the Alpharetta campus, but will probably be spending most of my classroom time downtown.

I'm enjoying the forums and look forward to whatever responses I may get on this thread.

I believe HighPoint Farm is in that area, they have excellent dressage instruction, as well as jumping. Although their main facility is top notch they do have "lesser" options they use for kids lessons, so it would be worth it to see if they fit your criteria.

High Point is a nice facility but it is located at least a hour away from Georgia State. Watkinsville is just outside of Athens/University of Georgia.

Alpharetta is definitely the best choice for horses, but alas there is very little horse stuff around downtown Atlanta. I think Little Creek is about the closest but I don't know their rates. http://www.littlecreekfarmconservancy.org/LCFC/Home.html

GSU has an equestrian club;

Equestrian Club
The Equestrian Club (http://www.facebook.com/gsuequestrian)at Georgia State provides students with an opportunity to ride, travel, and compete in horseshows through The Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA). All levels of riders are encouraged to participate. Contact Marcela Brock at mbrock5@student.gsu.edu for more information.
