The worst case of being sidelined well into the Summer luckily did not occur. Rosie returns aboard the Kelly Breen trained runner at Monmouth this weekend.

Grade 3, $200,000 Pegasus Stakes - Race 10 (http://equibase.com/static/entry/MTH061811USA-EQB.html#RACE10) @ 5:28 PM EST. TVG will air the race live.

Pants On Fire figures to have company out front in Pegasus Stakes (http://www.drf.com/news/monmouth-park-pants-fire-figures-have-company-out-front-pegasus-stakes)

Pants On Fire faces five opponents in a return to action sooner than expected in the 1 1/16-mile Pegasus.

Pants On Fire was well positioned for most of the run at Churchill Downs and was still in the mix rounding the final turn. He faded in the lane, running ninth while bleeding, despite running on Lasix.

“He bled a lot,” Breen said.

It looked like Pants On Fire would be sidelined until later this summer. But back at hisMonmouth home base, Pants On Fire came around quickly. So fast, that he is able to make this race.

Pants On Fire, with Rosie Napravnik aboard, figures to fire right into the pace. So should Rush Now, the dominant pacesetting winner of the Spend a Buck Stakes, the Pegasus prep; Harlan’s Hello who was under consideration for the Belmont Stakes by owner-trainer Doodnauth Shivmangal; and Turbo Compressor, a first-level winner by 13 1/2 lengths here on the opening weekend.

The abundance of speed could set the table for trainer Justin Sallusto to scoop up another Grade 3 win with a closer.

It sets him up quite nicely for a solid run at the Haskell Invitational July 31st.

And maybe no Rosie-Pants combo for the $1M Haskell Invitational due to injury

July 6, 2011 "Napravnik hurt in spill at DelPark" (http://www.drf.com/news/delaware-park-napravnik-hurt-spill)

Jockey Rosie Napravnik was taken to a local hospital and was being evaluated for a possible broken left arm after being involved in a spill during the running of Wednesday's eighth race at Delaware Park, according to her agent.

"She's in the hospital," Mark Mace said. "It's her left arm. It may be broken, it may not be."

Napravnik, 23, was aboard Naseeb, the 5-2 second choice in a five-furlong turf race, when that 5-year-old mare broke down about a quarter-mile into the race. Napravnik was unseated and hit the firm turf course hard. Naseeb suffered a broken bone between her shoulder and elbow, according to her trainer, Dale Capuano, and was euthanized.

Napravnik had won two races on Wednesday's program - including the race immediately preceding the spill - giving her a meet-leading 36 victories from 146 mounts. Earlier this year, Napravnik became the first female jockey to win the Fair Grounds riding title.

Pants On Fire, with Napravnik up, ... was being pointed to the $1 million Haskell Invitational at Monmouth on July 31.

The last update from Wed eve July 6, 2011 (http://www.drf.com/news/jockey-rosie-napravnik-out-indefinitely-after-breaking-wrist-spill) - a broken left wrist:

Napravnik was admitted to Christiana Hospital near the track and was scheduled to undergo surgery Thursday morning, Mace said.

"She’ll be out for a while," said Mace, who didn’t want to speculate on exactly how long.

Worth pointing out as it seems to be lost if not scarcely promoted ....

The DRF actually retracted/corrected their story - it was not the wrist but her arm which was broken.

That said the outlook of being off the shelf is sadly looking to be all summer.

BloodHorse - July 9, 2011 - Napravnik Has Second Surgery on Broken Arm (http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/63937/napravnik-has-second-surgery-on-broken-arm)

Jockey Rosie Napravnik had to undergo a second surgery July 8 on her broken left arm, according to her publicist Kelly Wietsma of Equisponse. Napravnik broke her arm during a spill July 6 at Delaware Park.

“The original surgery was very complicated in that a plate that was put in to repair a break she sustained four years ago had to be removed and replaced with a larger plate,” reported Wietsma on Facebook. “It was a very difficult procedure and as a result there was a great deal of swelling, which caused numbness and tingling in her fingers.”

The second surgery reportedly lasted three hours. Doctors used a vacuum drainage tube to help alleviate fluids and reduce swelling. Napravnik, 23, is at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Del.

“Although she’s in quite a bit of pain she is feeling relief from the surgery and she’s resting comfortably,” Wietsma said. Napravnik’s recovery time has been estimated at two to three months.

Was so sorry to hear about this. Was hoping she might show up at Saratoga. Bet she is fit to be tied! Hope she has a speedy recovery and we see her soon. She is one tough cookie, and a great rider.

She is now having a third surgery... but making wedding plans!
