The owner of Native Khan, 3rd in the 2000 Guineas and scheduled to run in the Derby at Epsom on Sat, has gone to court to try to prevent Kieren Fallon from riding in the Derby.

Fallon, who rode Native Khan in the Guineas, had been scheduled to ride him in the Derby, but a week or ten days ago agreed to ride one of the Coolmore horses, Recital. What's bizarre, is that Native Khan's owners then lined up Johnny Murtagh for the ride (no slouch there), so the only outcome of this courtcase would have been to prevent Fallon from riding at all. While I can see where the owner might be miffed, to take it this far smacks of being a spoilt brat and is downright unsporting.

As an aside for those interest in Epsom, HRTV is airing Epson live right now.
