Hey, I was just looking for some input on my 2year old (birthday 5/17) homebred filly. She is a 'family' pony and will stay that way so if she ends up too ugly to have a job she still has a home! haha She is out of a 15.2h TB mare who was bred at Virginia Tech's sporthorse breeding program (the mare evented Novice and did a bunch of Pony Club stuff with me when I was in high school) she is by 13.3h Welsh stallion Benlea Rambler (http://www.aurigafarm.com/BenleaWelshPonies.html).

She is a total love bug, so at least she has a good personality going for her! Her favorite past times include yanking on the cross ties from her stall when the other horses are tied in them, pulling my sisters and I around by our pony tails if we don't give her love, and lastly she enjoys grabbing onto the zipper of peoples jackets and zipping and unzipping them repeatedly. She is quite smart and a good escape artist! Contrary to what the above may imply she has pretty good ground manners (esp. for a 2yo). Today was the first time she has seem clippers since she was a newborn foal and had to have a minor vet procedure done. She could have cared less.

Anyhow, enough of my rambling... we are hoping that she will be a good all around pony for a kid..eventing, hunters, foxhunting, pony club, trail riding etc...But obviously we will see what she is suited to as she gets older and is started under saddle next year.

Now for the good stuff-Pictures!

Thanks for any input!

(crossposted from eventing bc I think she may end up falling more in line with the 'hunter' discipline)

I think your filly is quite cute. Many gorgeous horses look like yaks at 2, so I think you're ahead of the game.

I had a lovely mare by the same stallion. She was sweet, typey and a lovely little jumper. Only issue was she was a hard measure to keep her as a medium. I sold her to a pony place that changed her name, showed her a bit, bred her and sold her again. Last heard, she'd found her way to the west coast and was doing quite well in the Children's ponies out there. I would buy another one by Benlea Rambler any day, based on my positive experiences with my girl. I bought her at 5yo, so no exerience with the "young horse fuglies" but I have no doubt your lovely filly will mature into a stunner.

She's going to be a looker! Lovely legs. But do yourself a favor. Remember that photos on the internet are forever, and don't post the 'yak' pix. If she's not standing pretty, don't waste band width! :D

I think she's really cute! She should fill out to be really nice! She has a very feminine head.
