View Full Version : Good online sources to find/demo a used dressage saddle?

May. 27, 2011, 03:22 PM
I'm in desperate need of a dressage saddle as mine no longer fits my mare which is a good thing due to her getting some nice muscles. My local tack shop doesn't have many consignment choices, so I have to spread my search area to include places that will ship a saddle and allow me to try it for a week.

I found Trumbell Mountain Tack Shop but the saddle I am interested in is out on a trial. Can anyone recommend other online resources they have been happy with?

Thank you!

In addition to Trumbull, www.hastilowusa.com, pelham-saddlery.com, http://store.skylandssaddlery.com/ (their used saddles are on ebay, but allow a trial), www.classicsaddlery.com, http://www.middleburgtack.com/index.cfm?action=inventory&pCategoryID=D2DF6F93-C291-660C-4A72FCF258CF0594&name=Close%20Contact

I was shocked to see Pelham Saddlery's web site's domain is expired!

Trumbull Mountain is the best! Big selection and great customer service. Sorry I can't say the same for most other places. St. Croix is okay, but the selection is not always great.

Wow, thanks everyone! It's a good thing I have a 3 day weekend because this will keep me busy for sure.

Might want to try www.pinnaclesaddlery.com. Location is colorado and they have a 3 day trial period on their saddles.

What a shock about Pelham! Hopefully it is just an oversight. I did get an email from them a couple of days ago advertising demos for 50-70% off. They have a youtube page which looks like it has consignment saddles listed. Their number is 877-7PELHAM. I bought both my Albions at the store and always enjoyed stopping in when I was in the area.

They are also advertising free shipping over $75 and $6.95 below that. Doesn't include saddles.

Kate at Dutchess Bridle & Saddle gives GREAT service and they might have something for you if you give them a call.
Her website is not so awesome (although they will be upgrading shortly) but don't let it deter you- just call and talk to her so she can tell you what she may have on the truck for you.

They are in NY, so it's a ways away from you, but since you were willing to give Trumbull a call NY didn't seem too much of a stretch.
