It's free, and it's really quite wonderful.

Almost everything about racing (flat and jumps), race meets, horses, people, and on and on that one could ever want to know. They cover the US Triple Crown races.

The Grand Steeplechase de Paris will be May 29th at Auteuil.

Mid Dancer, winner in 2007, has just won the Grand Steeplechase de Paris, in a cracking finish, holding off a challenge from Rubi Ball.
This brings his career earnings to somewhere in the $3.5m range.

With Mid Dancer, you have the beginnings of the Mr. P/Northern Dancer cross in French chasing. Tail male Mr. P/Miswaki; dam's tail male Northern Dancer/Pink (FR) who, I would guess, was imported in utero. Pink's dam is Pink Valley by Never Bend. Rest of the bottom is classic French.

Rubi Ball is registered SFAA, and he's only six. Tail female goes to a mare with unknown breeding. He appears to be at least 15/16ths TB. This horse wouldn't have been allowed to start in the US, thanks to some really stupid rules.

Interesting that Mid Dancer could win when he was six (2001 model) and come back and win again when he's ten.

Here is the replay of today's Grand Steeplechase de Paris (http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xizetj_prix-gras-savoye-grand-steeple-chase-de-paris-2011-mid-dancer-s-dehez_sport). Unfortunately part of the screen is clipped, so you miss part of the exciting run it.
It was a very warm day in Paris today.

Rubi Ball is an AQPS (http://www.aqps.fr/en/aqps-stud-book) horse.

Thank you for the replay.

When I said he was an SFAA, that's what he's called on his pedigree page on French Galop. If he's actually registered with AQPS, it didn't show.

Well technically he is not in the AQPS studbook, as the studbook wasn't founded until 2006, a year after he was foaled. Prior to that these horses were registered as SF or not registered at all, but the term "Autre Que Pur Sang" has been used to describe these horses for decades. He would be a classic example of such a horse.

I wonder where they are going to put the part-bred TB crosses now, since they've made AQPS a term of art--a separate breeding registry. Do they have the equivalent of Weatherbys NTR? Don't all EU horses have to be registered/ID'd somewhere?
