AKiko reports the "By popular demand and after consulting with Willy and Steffen, we declare "Gaspard de la Nuit" as the baby's name. There were 10 entries as such so we will have 10 winners of the photo montage. Gaspard de la Nuit is a piano solo piece composed by Ravel. It has three movements, each based on a poem by Aloysius Bertrand. The name "Gaspard" itself means "Man in charge of royal treasures."

I think I didn't suggest that, though I considered it!

I kind of thought it was ugly compared to other "G" music-related terms...

I did!!!!! Yay!!!! :D

I'm a classical pianist as well as a dressage rider, and I LOVE Ravel's solo works (as well as his orchestration of "Pictures at an Exhibition," but that didn't work for this situation!). I couldn't resist suggesting it (and, apparently, 10 other people couldn't either!), and I'm happy they chose it!

Sorry, but I think it's an awful name. If they wanted to name the baby after one of Ravel's works....why not Bolero? I just hate the name they chose. Oh well. My opinion counts for sh_t anyway. Hope the baby does well and is as wonderful as Dad. Love Ravel.

Registry required that the name started with G.

I don't believe the music lends itself to a freestyle, does it?
